Abu Dhabi Ports Acquires Damen Tug Boats for Khalifa Port

Abu Dhabi Marine Services “Safeen”, the marine services subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, announces the purchase of two new state-of-the-art tugboats from Damen Shipyards Group aimed at supporting the AED 10 billion] expansion of Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi Ports’ flagship deep-water port.The purchase of the DAMEN ASD 2411 tugboats was announced at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show 2018. Damen to Supply Two Tugs to Safeen

Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with Abu Dhabi Ports and its subsidiary Abu Dhabi Marine Services (Safeen) for the supply of two new Damen ASD Tugs 2411.The contract was signed by Captain Adil Ahmed Banihammad, the Acting Chief Marine Services Officer at Safeen, and Pascal Slingerland, Regional Sales Director for Damen Shipyards Group. Delivery of both vessels is due within three months.Abu Dhabi Ports owns and operates 11 ports and managing over 55,000 vessel calls each year. The ASD Tugs 2411 will bring additional vessel handling capabilities to the group. Damen Delivers Shoalbuster 2609 for SAFEEN

SAFEEN, the subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports formerly known as Abu Dhabi Marine Services, has taken delivery of a Damen Shoalbuster 2609 named Maqtaa to join its existing fleet. The delivery comes just two months after the order was placed by SAFEEN. Like all the vessels in Damen’s Shoalbuster range, the new vessel is a multipurpose, shallow draught workboat capable of undertaking a range of roles including towing, mooring, pushing, anchor handling, dredge support, supplying and other support activities. Maqtaa’s primary role is providing towage and berthing assistance in the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi Ports Marine Subsidiary Rebranded as SAFEEN

Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad) in the Emirate, has renamed its subsidiary, Abu Dhabi Marine Services, as ‘SAFEEN’ –meaning ships in Arabic- in a bid to rebrand itself. The announcement was followed closely by the brand winning the prestigious International Safety Management (ISM) certification from the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Further, as part of expanding its fleet and improving services, SAFEEN  has added a new tug boat named ‘MAQTAA’ to its existing fleet of five tugs, five pilot boats, six  speed boats, one buoy maintenance boat and two oil spill response boats. The company plans to acquire three more tug boats by the end of 2016.
