Yanmar Expands in Denmark

Yanmar Europe BV said it has signed an agreement with the Danish independent service provider VMS Group A/S as a new service agent for commercial marine engines and spare parts. Carnival Maritime Partners with Wessels Reederei for LNG Training

AIDAnova is due to usher in a new era at the end of the year when it becomes the first cruise ship that can run on environmentally-friendly liquefied natural gas (LNG). To fully prepare the captains and officers for this technological changeover, a series of practical training sessions at sea started in June. The basis of this training project is a new cooperation between Carnival Maritime and Wessels Reederei, which is providing the LNG-powered container ship WES Amelie for training purposes.The 30-day on-board training sessions on the WES Amelie enable AIDA’s captains and officers to experience at first hand what it is like to control a LNG-powered vessel under real operating conditions.

The company’s adjusted earnings for 2016 of $2.6 billion is the best annual financial performance in its 44-year history. Carnival Corp Reports Strongest Earnings

Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK) announced U.S. GAAP net income of $1.4 billion, or $1.93 diluted EPS, for the third quarter of 2016 compared to U.S. GAAP net income for the third quarter of 2015 of $1.2 billion, or $1.56 diluted EPS. Third quarter 2016 adjusted net income of $1.4 billion, or $1.92 adjusted EPS, was higher than adjusted net income of $1.4 billion, or $1.75 adjusted EPS, for the third quarter of 2015. Adjusted net income excludes unrealized gains and losses on fuel derivatives and other net charges, totaling $7 million in gains for the third quarter 2016 and $149 million of losses for the third quarter 2015. Revenues for the third quarter of 2016 were $5.1 billion, $0.2 billion higher than the $4.9 billion in the prior year.

Carnival Opens High-tech Training Center

Carnival Corporation & plc today announced the official opening of its Arison Maritime Center, a world-class facility dedicated to providing safety training for its bridge and engineering officers responsible for the navigation and operation of the company’s fleet of cruise ships. Located in Almere, Netherlands just outside Amsterdam, the new 75-million-euro facility features some of industry’s most advanced simulators and training equipment to provide annual training to more than 6,500 bridge and engineering officers from Carnival’s 10 global cruise line brands.

Carnival to Open State-of-the-art Training Center

Carnival Corporation & plc announced today that its Arison Maritime Center in the Netherlands will honor the legacy of the Arison family who founded and grew the company into the world’s largest cruise line operation. The company also announced that construction is now well underway for what will be a state-of-the-art campus located in Almere, just outside Amsterdam. Keppel Launches Greenfield Data Centre

Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation Ltd (Keppel T&T) officially opened its Almere Data Centre 2 today, its first greenfield data centre in Europe*. The opening of the facility was attended by Guest-of-Honour Prof. Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Partner, Corporate Responsibility at EY. Also in attendance were Mr John Neary, Ambassador of Ireland to the Netherlands, Mr Ethan Chua, Deputy Chief of Mission & Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Singapore, Mr Mark Pol, Vice Mayor of the City of Almere for Finance, Economic Affairs and Municipal Real Estate and Mr Alexander Van Der Hooft, EVP Operations Business Market at KPN.

Ulstein Implements Organizational Changes

Naming and organizational changes are underway in the Ulstein Group companies in the Netherlands. As of August 1, 2015, the ship design company Ulstein Sea of Solutions has been renamed Ulstein Design & Solutions BV (UDS BV), while the equipment company Ulstein Idea Equipment Solutions has been renamed Ulstein Equipment BV (UE BV). Edwin van Leeuwen and Gilbert Rezette enter positions as managing directors of the respective companies. Furthermore the holding company for the Ulstein Group activities in the Netherlands has been renamed into Ulstein Netherlands in which Sigurd Viseth takes position as managing director. He will also on behalf of Ulstein become Chairman of the Board in the Dutch companies.

Carnival Orders Transas Simulators for CSMART

Transas and the Center for Simulator and Maritime Training (CSMART), the training facility for Carnival Corporation & plc, signed a multimillion euro contract to utilize Transas' simulators at CSMART's new facility, scheduled to open in summer 2016 in Almere, just outside Amsterdam. Carnival Corporation has operated its current CSMART training facility in Almere since 2009. The new CSMART facility will be three times larger than the existing facility, with capacity for providing annual training for 6,500 deck and engineering officers.

Keppel T&T Proposes Listing of Keppel DC REIT

Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation (Keppel T&T) has today issued a circular to Keppel T&T shareholders together with a notice of extraordinary general meeting (EGM). Approval will be sought at the EGM, which will be held on 25 November 2014, for the proposed listing of Keppel DC REIT on the Main Board of Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (the SGX-ST). Keppel T&T will also seek the approval of shareholders on a proposed divestment of Keppel T&T's interests in Keppel Digihub, Keppel Datahub 1, Gore Hill Data Centre and Citadel 100 Data Centre, and their proposed injection into Keppel DC REIT. For over 25 years, “the Enterprise of the Year” award is one of the highest achievements in the municipality of Almere in The Netherlands. MHI Engine Base Renamed "Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine Europe B.V."

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) changed the name of its subsidiary in Almere, the Netherlands, which handles its turbocharger and engine businesses in Europe from the previous "MHI Equipment Europe B.V." to "Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine Europe B.V." In tandem with the changeover, the renamed company will now further accelerate activities to expand its business not only in the European market, where demand is robust, but also in newly emerging markets such as Africa.

Transas Reflects on a Year of Cruise Ship Developments

2012 presented a number of interesting challenges for the Transas ship modeling and hydrodynamics department, not least of which was the high fidelity modeling of more than ten vessels successfully completed for various high-profile members of the global Cruise Industry. Transas reflects upon 2012 as being a successful year of high-fidelity cruise ship modelling for various clients. The year began with the development of several in-service vessels for the Resolve Maritime Academy, in support of their training programs for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL). This included the Celebrity Solstice, Freedom of the Seas, Vision of the Seas and TUI Mein Schiff 1. Each was painstakingly developed and validated to ensure the highest level of realism when compared against the equivalent operational vessel.

W & O Supply Announces Leadership Changes

W&O Supply, a supplier of marine valves, pipe, fittings, engineered products and valve automation systems, announces a change in leadership. David Turner, currently the President and CEO of W&O Supply, has been promoted to the position of Director of Business Development for Pon Power, W&O Supply’s parent company, and Chairman of W&O Supply. In his new role, Turner will be tasked with growing the Pon division on a global basis during the next five years. Additionally, Turner will leverage marketing and growth opportunities in existing markets as well as execute against Pon Power’s global marine business growth goals. Turner’s new position requires his relocation to Holland where he will work out of the Pon Power headquarters in Almere, The Netherlands.
