HJSC Receives LR AIP for 7,700 TEU LNG-fueled Containership

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has awarded approval in principle (AIP) to HJ Shipbuilding and Construction Co. Ltd (HJSC) – formerly Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction – for its 7,700 TEU liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled containership.The AIP follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and joint development project (JDP) agreement between the two companies signed on November 24, 2021. McDermott Names Flagship Pipelayer in Singapore

McDermott International, Inc. formally named its flagship Derrick Lay Vessel 2000 (DLV 2000) during a ceremony at the Keppel Singmarine Shipyard in Singapore. Brenda Cuthbertson, wife of 38-year McDermott employee and Asia Area Vice President Hugh Cuthbertson, served as the vessel’s godmother and named the DLV 2000 with the traditional breaking of champagne during the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by invited guests, McDermott and Keppel executives and employees and was followed by guided tours and lunch on the vessel.

Darley Named LR Americas Regional Marine Manager

Mark Darley recently assumed the role of Americas Regional Marine Manager and President of Lloyd’s Register North America (LRNA). In these positions, he leads LR’s Marine business for the Americas region, overseeing commercial and business planning and developing strategy to improve the company’s competitive position within the region. He coordinates with the Marine Group in London and is responsible for achieving operational goals for safety, quality and financial performance in the Americas.

LR Issues Guide to Shipbuilding in South Asia

As shipbuilding nations in South Asia mature, Lloyd's Register's new guide provides an overview of over 80 shipyards and 18 ship designers in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Biggest Ship Ever Built in Vietnam: 'Nissaki' Named

The 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier was recently named in Vietnam's Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard (HVS). Nissaki is built for St Michael Shipping of Greece, marking a significant milestone in the development of the shipbuilding capability of Vietnam, being the biggest ship built to date in the country to Lloyd's Register class. The vessel was built at the joint venture yard, Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard (HVS), located in Khanh Hoa province. Lincoln Battle Group Deploys with NAVSEA Technologies

A variety of Naval Sea Systems Command programs will make their debut with the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Battle Group, which recently departed for a six-month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
