General Dynamics Awarded 'Zumwalt-class' Superstructure Contract

US Defense Department, Navy, has awarded General Dynamics Corp. -- Bath Iron Works Corp., Bath, Maine, a $212,000,000 fixed-price incentive (firm target) contract for the design and construction of a steel superstructure (deckhouse and hangar) plus construction of an aft peripheral vertical launching system for the Zumwalt-class destroyer (DDG 1002). New Navy Contract

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $33,066,885 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2307) to exercise options for the accomplishment of Lead Yard Class Services for the DDG 51 Class AEGIS destroyer program. This work will provide technical assistance to the Follow Yard in the interpretation and application of the detailed design developed by Bath Iron Works Corp., the Lead Yard contractor. DDG 51 class services include:  liaison for follow ship construction, general class services, class logistic services, class design agent services and class change design services for follow ships. Work will be performed in Bath, Maine, and is expected to be completed by July 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Bath Iron Works Corp., (a General Dynamics Company), Bath, Maine is being awarded a $20,753,902 modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2307) to exercise an option for 233,426 man-hours for Lead Yard Class Services for the DDG 51 Class AEGIS Destroyer Program. Bath Iron Works Corp., (subsidiary of General Dynamics), Bath, Maine, was awarded a $10,232,700 modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-02-C-2303) for structural assemblies for the DDG 51 Class ship building program. DDG 51 Class structural assemblies constitute the forward deckhouse of the ship. This procurement will assist in the recovery from fire sustained during construction aboard DDG 103 (USS Truxtun).
