Bollinger Delivers to Beemar Inc.
In April Bollinger Shipyard delivered the first of their 234-ft class of Cummins-powered Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) to Bee Mar Inc. The shipyard started building this series of vessels in 2008 and delivered the first in the series to the newly formed Bee Mar LLC in June of 2009. The Bee Mar newbuild fleet will consist of five 210-ft and three 234-ft American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classed DP‐2 PSV's. Each vessel has high cargo carrying capacities and meets or exceeds the customer requirements and demands for offshore marine support applications.
Roanwell Enters Marine Market: Acquires Bees Manufacturing
US-based Roanwell Corp. purchases Bees Manufacturing LLC gains entry to marine market. Roanwell, a maker of rugged communications equipment and contract manufacturer of high precision close tolerance machined parts, will be able to enter the marine marketplace through the acquisition. Bees Manufacturing, LLC, ("Bees"), est. 1929, of Weymouth, MA, is a contract manufacturer of various alloy and plastic precision machined components for OEMs in the deep sea marine, medical, and industrial markets. Bees manufacturing operations will merge into Roanwell Corporation's Absolute Manufacturing Division, located in Pepperell, MA. The name "Bees" will be discontinued as products will be shipped under the Absolute Manufacturing name.
Bee Mar Set to Enter GOM Market
Former Sea Mar President Van C. DeWitt recently announced details about the newly formed marine transportation company, Bee Mar LLC, which he currently heads as President and CEO. The company is preparing to introduce a fleet of Dynamic Positioning-2 (DP-2) Platform Supply Vessels (PSV’s) for offshore support in the and international markets. The Bee Mar fleet will consist of five 210-ft. and three 234-ft. American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classed DP-2 PSV's. Each vessel has high cargo carrying capacities and meets or exceeds the customer requirements and demands for offshore marine support applications. The 210 X 56 X 18-ft. PSV’s have superior cargo capacity, with 2,700 LT of cargo, a clear deck measuring 150 x 47-ft. 6,300 barrels of liquid mud and 6,000 cu. ft. of dry bulk capacity.
Harvey Gulf Acquires Bee Mar's Assets
Harvey Gulf International Marine’s CEO, Shane Guidry, announced that, on June 4, 2012, Harvey Gulf signed an agreement with Bee Mar, LLC to purchase all of Bee Mar’s vessels and assets. The purchase will include 10 Offshore Supply Vessels, which will increase Harvey Gulf’s fleet to a total of 32 vessels – with 24 deepwater, new generation Offshore Support Vessels and 8 deepwater towing vessels. Upon closing, Harvey Gulf will have operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, Mozambique Africa, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Cummins Auxiliaries for New Offshore Vessel
Reliable auxiliary power is as important to a modern offshore vessel as are the main propulsion engines. Ample and reliable electrical power is essential to the basic support systems from the galley appliances to the wheelhouse navigational devices. The Ms. Charlotte, recently delivered to Edison Chouest by Bollinger Shipyards of Lockport, Louisiana, is a powerful demonstration of this. Designated a 300 Class Deep Water Support Vessel, the ship has a pair of GE 3,125 hp 8L250 main propulsion engines.
Repasa Puts New Stan Tugs to Work
On October 13, Repasa's ASD Tugs assisted the berthing of a LNG tanker with great success. Yesterday the two Damen Stan Tugs 1606, outfitted as line handling boats, sailed to the buoy to receive another tanker for their first mission in Equatorial Guinea. For Repasa, this is a successful start of its new joint venture with P&O Maritime. The Damen Stan Tugs 1606, Red Ant and Red Bee, are the first Damen builds in Repasa’s fleet of workboats which also includes AHT and ASD tugs.
Harvey Gulf Buys 9 Bee Mar OSV's & to Stretch 5
Harvey Gulf International Marine closes its asset purchase purchase deal with Bee Mar LLC. The purchase price for the all-cash sale of Bee Mar's nine Offshore Supply Vessels was US$243-million. Harvey Gulf immediately renamed the vessels consistent with other Harvey Gulf vessels and began seeking bids to stretch 5 of the new vessels to meet 250’ OSV class specifications. Harvey Gulf also announced that it has exercised 2 of its 4 options to construct additional LNG OSV's at TY Offshore and added 2 additional options, which will eventually bring Harvey's new build LNG OSV's fleet to 10 vessels.
Original Stealth Ship Sold for Scrap
The $2.5 million bid from Bay Ship & Yacht Co. won the federal government auction. The firm was interested not so much in the space-age stealth ship but the barge that houses it, which will be converted into a drydock, reports 'The Sacramento Bee'. Sea Shadow was built in 1985 by Lockheed Martin in Redwood City, under contract with the U.S. Navy, for a price of $50 million. The goal was to test whether radar-evading technology proven in fighter aircraft could also be applied to ships. The experiment was a success.
Drilling to Start in Iran’s Caspian Blocks
Three-dimensional seismological operations at Iranian blocks in Caspian Sea in preparation for spudding two wells are underway and drilling operations are to begin on February 1, according to PIN. Deputy minister of oil for Caspian Sea oil and gas affairs told Petroenergy Information Network that a bid is underway for choosing a foreign contractor with experience in working at deep waters and the results will be announced in two weeks. After drilling test well, exploration wells would be drilled at a depth of 800 m from the sea level and will continue up to 6,000 m below the seabed?. Company to Pay $9.5 Mln for Actions Leading to US Gulf Explosion
Wood Group PSN Inc., a Nevada corporation headquartered in Houston, was ordered to pay $9.5 million in two separate cases involving its conduct in the Gulf of Mexico. EnerGulf Update Block 1711 Offshore Namibia
EnerGulf Resources Inc. announced that the Operating Committee for Block 1711 met in Windhoek, Namibia and has approved a "Work Program" for Year 1 of the Exploration License renewal. Coatings & Corrosion Control: Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC)
Recently, the use of certain environmental-friendly waxes or "semi-hard coatings", used by barge fabricators to protect the internal void walls and floors of marine double-hulled steel barges from corrosion, have fallen under scrutiny by some barge owners/operators. It is believed that certain paraffin wax coatings act as a food source for certain living corrosive microorganisms. These single-celled organisms are associated with a phenomenon known as Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) that can cause localized pitting and eventually leaks in steel barge voids. This following examines the biological and chemical research that has recently been performed on the Jotun Paints, Inc, "beeswax" coating by two independent laboratories.
Contracts Awarded: Response Boat–Small Replacement Project
On February 4, 2011, the U.S. Coast Guard awarded two fixed price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts to begin replacement of the current Response Boat-Small (RB-S) fleet, which is nearing the end of its ten-year service life. The contracts were awarded to Metal Shark Aluminum Boats of Jeanerette, La., and SAFE Boats International of Port Orchard, Wash. Under the terms of the contract, each builder will produce a minimum of one boat, based on a proven hull design, to be delivered in June of this year. The Coast Guard will test and validate each boat this summer.

Developed by Security Identification Systems Corporation (SISCO), A-Pass (Automated Personnel Assisted Security Screening), provides a picture of each guest – even before boarding the ship – via a kiosk that stores each passengers photo upon insertion of their boarding card.
