Offshore Charging Station for Electrified Offshore Vessels Being Developed in UK

A project has been launched in the UK to explore the viability of developing an offshore charging facility for vessels as part of the industry’s efforts to decarbonize its vessel operations. Funded by the first phase of the UK Government’s Sustainable Innovation Fund, the project - led by Turbulent Simulations, alongside Aluminium Marine Consultants, the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, MJR Power & Automation, Tidal Transit and Bibby Marine Services - will look into the design of a permanently stationed Offshore Charging Vessel.

SCHOTTEL Propulsion for Bibby WaveMaster Horizon

The newly built Service Operation Vessel (SOV) “Bibby WaveMaster Horizon” is equipped with propulsion units from SCHOTTEL. Ordered by the British company Bibby Marine Services Ltd. and built at Damen Shipyards Galati, the vessel is driven by three rudderpropellers and two bow thrusters from the German propulsion expert. Second ASV Delivered to Bibby

The second of Damen’s Accommodation Support Vessel (ASV) 9020 has been delivered to Bibby Marine Services at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania. U.S. Offshore Wind: RMG, Bibby Sign MOU

As the prospects for offshore wind energy continue to grow in and around the United States, so too do the business potential and parnterships. The latest announcement comes from south Florida where Resolve Marine Group and Bibby Marine Services, a U.K. based dedicated “Walk to Work” vessel company (W2W) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to  develop Jones Act compliant vessel solutions for the U.S. offshore wind sector. A second service operations vessel for Bibby Marine Services has been launched and christened during a ceremony at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania, the shipbuilder announced Friday.The new vessel, Bibby WaveMaster Horizon, will begin maintenance work on two EnBW and Enbridge-owned wind farms in the German North Sea – Hohe See and Albatros – for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and EnBW, upon delivery later this year.Damen said it developed the SOV 9020 vessel design through close consultation with the offshore renewables industry.

Keel Laid for Second Bibby Wavemaster

Total E&P Charters Bibby WaveMaster 1

Bibby Marine Services said it has signed a contract with Total E&P Netherland to charter the new Damen designed and built walk-to-work’(W2W) service operationvVessel Bibby WaveMaster1 from April 2018 through to October 2018, with options to extend up to three years. Total E&P Nederland will use the Bibby WaveMaster 1 to replace jack ups and helicopters and to provide access to gas platforms in the southern North Sea. The vessel will provide accommodation for up to 90 pax including crew.

Shepherd Joins Bibby Offshore's Renewables Team

Bibby Offshore, a subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry, has appointed Dorothy Shepherd as general manager, renewables. Shepherd joins Bibby Offshore with more than 15 years’ experience in the energy industry. Having spent a significant time at The Crown Estate - a key player in supporting the delivery of energy supply for the U.K. - Shepherd brings with her a wealth of offshore renewables knowledge, including the delivery of new developments and supporting infrastructure. In her new role, Shepherd will be instrumental in the delivery of new business in the renewables sector.

Pronomar Equips Bibby WaveMaster 1

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem built the walk-to-work services operations vessel Bibby WaveMaster 1, and Pronomar provided drying systems for workwear to the turbine maintenance personnel. Damen Shipyards Gorinchem is the headquarters of the Damen Shipyards Group and delivers up to 180 vessels each year and has built more than 6,000 ships since 1969. This custom-designed vessel was deployed for U.K.-based Bibby Marine Services. It is designed to operate with maximum efficiency, while providing a high level of comfort for the crew.

Damen, Ampelmann Team up for Marine Access Demonstration

Damen Shipyards Group has teamed up with the global leader in motion compensation access solutions, Ampelmann, to conduct tests with Ampelmann’s L-Type system on board a Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 5009. Damen is developing its marine access solutions in order to guarantee increased safety, reduced costs and efficiency in the global crew transfer market. As part of this mission, Damen has recently increased its cooperation with a number of access suppliers. On this occasion, the process has resulted in a live demonstration of a combined Ampelmann and Damen solution at a North Sea gas production platform. Teaming up with Ampelmann for a number of tests was a natural route says Damen Business Development Manager David Stibbe.

Bibby Steers to Offshore Cable Installation

Bibby Offshore announced its decision to move into the offshore wind array cable installation market. The company has purchased a power cable lay carousel from Ecosse Subsea Systems (ESS), which will enable Bibby Offshore to lay power cables for offshore wind projects from its vessels. Bibby Offshore and ESS have also entered into strategic alliance by way of a framework agreement. Under this alliance, Bibby Offshore will provide commercial expertise supported by subsea project management and engineering experience, while ESS will provide innovation and in depth sector competence through its trenching expertise. Both companies will collaborate to develop other technologies and working methods which will benefit clients by reducing risk and lowering project costs.

First Steel Cut for Bibby WaveMaster

Following the recent contract signing for the first ever Damen Service Operations Vessel (SOV) with walk-to-work capability, the first steel was cut this week at Damen Shipyards Galati, marking the beginning of construction for U.K.-based client Bibby Marine Services. The new vessel will be named Bibby WaveMaster 1 and deployed in the North Sea to support forthcoming offshore wind construction and O&M projects. Damen Sr. Project Manager René Hooijman said, “This is a significant moment for this vessel and for both Damen and Bibby Marine Services. The beginning of the physical construction process is a cause for celebration after years of planning and development.
