Carnival Launches New Online Embarkation Portal

Carnival is launching a new online embarkation portal which will go into effect on December 15. To comply with the new data-gathering requirements by the U.S. cruise. Carnival Miracle to Operate Diverse Schedule

Carnival Takes Delivery of Carnival Miracle

Carnival Cruise Lines has taken delivery of its 20th Fun Ship, the 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle. Kvaerner Masa-Yards has delivered the $375 million, 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle, to Carnival Cruise Lines - its 20th Fun Ship - in the traditional handover ceremonies in Helsinki. For anyone who has ever had the privilege to attend such a delivery, seeing a new cruise ship rolled out in the middle of the Finnish winter is truly an awe-inspiring, if not one of the most ironic, sights. However, it is a testament to accrued cruise industry expertise and a stable infrastructure of equipment and system suppliers that keeps the shipyard at the forefront. Carnival Miracle is the sixth cruise ship in the Spirit class series of new Panamax-size cruise ships for Carnival Cruise Lines (four ships) and Costa Crociere (two ships).

Carnival Repositions Carnival Legend

Carnival Cruise Lines' new 2,124-passenger Carnival Legend will operate a series of eight-day "exotic" Caribbean voyages from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Nov. 10, 2002 - April 19, 2003, marking the first time the line has deployed a brand new ship to that port. Originally, this program was scheduled to operate from Miami. Carnival Legend's new Fort Lauderdale-based schedule is the line's first long-term cruise program from that port in more than a decade. Eight-day southern Caribbean cruises will visit St. City, Belize; Limon, Costa Rica; and Colon, Panama. Carnival Spirit, in November 2001. vessels to visit exciting destinations previously available only on longer length voyages.

Carnival Paradise Still Laid Up At NNS

Carnival Cruise Lines has canceled the August 13, 2000, voyage of its cruise ship Paradise while repairs to the vessel's damaged starboard Azipod propulsion unit continue at Newport News Shipbuilding. The ship is now expected to re-enter service on Aug. 20. The technical problem occurred shortly after the Paradise departed from the Port of Miami for a seven-day cruise on July 16. Carnival Corp., parent company of Carnival Cruise Lines, had previously announced an estimated $.03 per share reduction to third quarter earnings as a result of the incident and that estimate remains unchanged with the additional canceled voyage. Guests who were scheduled to sail on the Aug. 13 cruise will receive a full refund as well as a 50 percent discount on a future three to seven-day cruise.

Carnival To Cancel Two Voyages On Elation For Preventative Maintenance

Carnival Cruise Lines said that it will cancel two seven-day voyages of its cruise ship Elation departing October 29 and November 5, 2000, to perform preventative maintenance on the ship's two Azipod propulsion units. As a result, the company estimates that fourth quarter 2000 earnings will be reduced by approximately $.01 per share. The Elation, which sails every Sunday from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera, is one of two ships in the Carnival fleet that features Azipod propulsion. The other vessel, Paradise, experienced a problem with the system in July, which forced the cancellation of five week-long cruises while the ship underwent emergency repairs at Newport News Shipbuilding.

Carnival's Dickinson to Retire

Bob Dickinson, president and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines, will retire at the end of the year. He will remain on the company's board of directors. Gerry Cahill, executive vice president and CFO of Carnival Corporation & plc, will assume Dickinson's responsibilities as president and CEO effective immediately so that there is an ample transition period. David Bernstein, Carnival Corporation & plc's vice president and treasurer, will become the company's CFO, also effective immediately. "I have been blessed to have had a long, fun-filled career helping to build Carnival and the cruise industry. I'm still having fun so giving all of that up has been a very difficult decision but I'll be 65 next month and have been pondering this with my family for some time," Dickinson said.

Boggs Named Carnival Conquest Godmother

Corrine "Lindy" Clairborne Boggs, former U.S. representative from Louisiana, is to serve as godmother of Carnival Cruise Lines' newest ship, Carnival Conquest, at the official naming ceremony slated for November 19, 2002, in New Orleans. The Carnival Conquest will be the line's first vessel inaugurated at the Port of New Orleans, where the ship will be based year-round. Carnival Cruise Lines To Raise $1.5 Million For American Red Cross Relief Efforts

Carnival Cruise Lines will donate $50 for each stateroom sold over the next 30 days to the American Red Cross to aid in relief efforts associated with the recent terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. The $50 per cabin donation is expected to generate approximately $1.5 million for the American Red Cross, continuing Carnival's decade-long association with the world's foremost relief organization. Carnival, like other companies throughout the world, wanted to help the victims of the tragedy, while providing its guests and travel agent partners an opportunity to share in the relief efforts, according to Carnival president Bob Dickinson. Carnival Cruise Ship Stricken Again

In what has become an all too familiar scenario, another Carnival cruise ship reported engine problems and ended floating aimlessly while passengers onboard no doubt fumed. The latest in a string of high-profile mishaps for the world’s largest cruise company involved its ship Destiny, carrying more than 4,000 passengers and crew. By Wednesday afternoon, technicians had reportedly restored partial power, but only after it had drifted for 27 hours in the Atlantic off the Turks and Caicos Islands. Power to the two electric propulsion motors of the cruise liner Destiny was lost about 1:40 a.m. EST (0640 GMT) Tuesday, leaving the ship adrift about 60 miles (97 km) east of Grand Turk, one of the Atlantic islands that make up the British colony north of Hispaniola, the company said.

Carnival Charters Ships to Aid Relief Efforts

Carnival Cruise Lines has chartered three of its cruise ships to the Military Sealift Command (MSC) on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for six months as part of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The three cruise ships are the Ecstasy, Sensation and Holiday. The federal government will pay Miami-based Carnival Corp. $192 million for providing temporary housing to evacuees from hurricane Katrina on three luxury cruise liners. The Ecstasy, normally homeported at Galveston, Texas, operating four- and five-day cruises, and Sensation, normally homeported in New Orleans operating four- and five-day voyages, will be pulled from service effective Monday, Sept. 5. Initial plans are for both vessels to be docked in Galveston.

Carnival Legend Earns Perfect Scores

The new 88,500-ton Carnival Legend scored perfect 100s from both the U.S. Department of Public Health and Canadian Public Health Service during inspections in Baltimore and Halifax, Nova Scotia, earlier this month.
