Kevin Short Named CEO of Mintra

Norwegian maritime and offshore training software firm Mintra said it has appointed Kevin Short as CEO. Short, who has been chief commercial officer since 2018, takes over the leadership role from Scott Kerr following his decision to join the firm’s board of directors.“In these post-Covid times and as we slowly return to a world that can be considered more normal, there are tremendous prospects for both digital learning and human capital management software. Aker/DNV GL Ink Frame Agreement

Aker BP has awarded a new frame agreement to DNV GL, covering a wide range of safety, verification, inspection and classification services across its installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The five-year contract, which includes options for extension, will see DNV GL experts integrated into Aker BP’s organization to provide decision-making support and stand-alone assessments. “This contract represents an important step forward in DNV GL’s long relationship with BP Norway and Det norske oljeselskap, as the companies merge to form Aker BP,” said Kjell Eriksson, regional manager, Norway, DNV GL – Oil & Gas. BP Norway, Maersk Extend Drilling Rig Contract

BP Norway has extended the contract for the jackup Maersk Reacher by two years from September 2014 to September 2016, for an estimated value of $222 million. BP Norway has additional options to prolong the contract by up to four more years until September 2020.   Kosmos Energy has arranged a rig-share with BP and Maersk Drilling for the semisubmersible Maersk Discoverer.   The rig is expected to start drilling the FA-1 exploration well on the Foum Assaka block offshore Morocco during the first half of this year. The well is estimated to take around three months to complete.   According to partner Fastnet, the Foum Assaka concession could hold 360 MMboe of Pmean resources.

Maersk Drilling Order Ultra-harsh Jack-up Rig

The new ultra harsh environment jack-up rig, 'XL Enhanced 4', is to be built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea with delivery scheduled for mid-2016. The total project cost for the rig is USD 650m including a turnkey contract with the yard, owner furnished equipment, project management and capitalised interest. Major BP Upstream North Sea Project Starts Production

BP and partners start production of oil/gas from the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea, one of a series of new major upstream projects. “The start-up of Skarv is a key operational milestone for BP, adding new production from one of our core higher-margin areas,” said Bob Dudley, BP group chief executive. The Skarv field is approximately 210 kilometres west of the Norwegian coast in water depths of approximately 350-450 metres. Discovered in 1998, the field has an estimated ultimate recovery of around 100 million barrels of oil and condensate and over 1.5 trillion cubic feet of rich gas. New Contract for Aker Solutions and BP Norway

Aker Solutions secures maintenance and modifications contract with BP Norway. BP has decided to extend the maintenance and modification contract with Aker Solutions, exercising an option in the existing agreement for the Ula, Valhall, Skarv, Hod and Tambar fields. Scope of work under the contract includes maintenance support services and brownfield modification projects covering engineering, procurement, fabrication and offshore installation. The contract currently employs approximately 200 people in Stavanger, 20 in Egersund and 300 in offshore rotation. Maintenance and modifications work will help to increase oil recovery rate and extend the life of BP's fields.

BP Extends Contract With Aker Solutions

BP has decided to extend the maintenance and modification contract with Aker Solutions, exercising a one year option in the existing agreement for the Ula, Valhall, Hod and Tambar fields. Work under the new option will last until April 2012. The contract value is estimated to be NOK 2-300 MNOK. The original maintenance and modification contract was signed in 2005. OTC 2011 Distinguished Achievement Awards

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will present its 2011 Distinguished Achievement Awards on May 1 to Cortis (Cort) Cooper for his pioneering work in metocean research, and to BP Norway for the Life of Field seismic reservoir surveillance project. ExxonMobil Development Company will receive a special citation for its deepwater project implementation in Angola. The awards will be presented at the Annual OTC Dinner, a new signature event on Sunday evening that will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The dinner will kick off the world’s largest conference for offshore development, which will be held 2-5 May at Reliant Park in Houston.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Contract

BP Norway has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for tow and installation of a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO). The FPSO will be installed at the Skarv field in the North Sea. The total contract value is approximately NOK 300 million. The scope of work includes pre-installation of the 15 leg mooring system, tow from South Korea to Norway and transportation and installation of the FPSO. The work will be executed by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Marine Contractors. The new-built offshore construction vessel BOA SUB C, on long term charter for Aker Marine Contractors, will be used for the mooring pre-installation.

Kongsberg Inks Simulator Deal with BP

Kongsberg Maritime won two contracts for the delivery of ASSETT Engineering and Operator Training Simulators for the Valhall and Ula-Tambar fields in Norway. The simulators will be delivered in 2006. will be integrated with the ABB Safety and Automation System. "ASSETT enables our customers to optimize their production and train their operators for these conditions," said Sales Manager for Process Simulation in Norway, Chris Ruigrok of Kongsberg.
