BIMCO Adopts Time Charter Party to Target Emerging CO2 Trade

© BIMCO

BIMCO’s Documentary Committee has adopted a new time charter party which has been developed specifically for the maritime transport of liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO₂). The form, CO2TIME 2026, responds to the rapid development of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects and the need for a standardized contractual framework for maritime transport.CO2TIME 2026 is the first time charter party designed specifically for the carriage of liquefied CO₂. While firmly focused on the emerging CO₂ trade…

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Isometric Partner on Carbon Removal

© Isometric

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Isometric have entered into a strategic partnership under which Isometric will issue scientifically rigorous, transparent carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits to support MOL’s net zero strategy. The partnership—which includes Isometric’s selection as the registry for MOL’s milestone 10,000-ton Enhanced Weathering offtake with Alt Carbon—will provide MOL with access to high-quality carbon removal credits certified under the Isometric Standard.Isometric’s protocols…

New Electrolyzer to Turn Emissions into e-Fuels

Source: ECO2Fuel

An EU-funded project is helping accelerate the adoption of carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) technologies that transform carbon dioxide emissions into valuable resources such as fuels, chemicals, and construction materials.CCU is based on the principle of capturing carbon dioxide and reusing it in various forms, such as e-fuels created by combining captured CO2 with renewable hydrogen. The ECO2Fuel project is pioneering this approach by developing a 1MW low-temperature electrolyzer…

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) have acquired Approval in Principle (AiP) from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) for its jointly developed liquefied CO2 (LCO2) / methanol carrier. AiP acquisition for this type of carrier marks a world's first.Technologies for converting CO2 into fuel or chemical products are attracting attention as a means of utilizing CO2 in CCUS (Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage).
