Centrica Starts Buying Cheniere LNG

British multinational energy and services company Centrica has loaded its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the fifth LNG train at the Sabine Pass liquefaction plant in Louisiana under the agreement signed in 2013 with Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P.The gas was loaded onto the GasLog Ltd chartered Skagen vessel over the weekend and will be transiting the Atlantic to land in Europe in early October.Commenting on the first cargo, Jonathan Westby, Co-Managing Director of Centrica Energy Marketing & Trading and Global Head of LNG, said:  â€śThis cargo represents a significant milestone in Centrica’s involvement with LNG, which goes…

UK Shadow Energy Minister Visits Centrica, Bibby Offshore

Integrated energy company Centrica Energy and Bibby Offshore, an oil and gas industry subsea services provider, today hosted Tom Greatrex MP, the UK's Shadow Energy Minister, as part of an oil and gas industry fact-finding initiative. Weston Appointed Manager at Survival Craft

David Weston

Survival Craft Inspectorate (SCI), a global provider of emergency marine systems and support services, said it has made a key appointment as it targets further growth in 2014. David Weston has been appointed training and competence operations manager at the business, which recently opened its 12th office in Rotterdam. As well as his company-wide auditing role, David – who served in the RAF for 22 years – heads up the new Survival Craft Inspectorate Training Academy in Stonehaven.

Centrica Energy Awarded Barents Sea License

Centrica Energy in Norway was awarded a 50% operating share in the Scarecrow licence, its first  in the Barents Sea. The Norwegian government on June 12 awarded the licences that form part of the 22nd round on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Centrica Energy was awarded an operatorship and 50% ownership in the Scarecrow licence, block 719. This block opens up a new area for Centrica, and marks the beginning of a new venture for the Norwegian upstream business as it looks to grow its business further in Norway.

Bifab Contracted to Build GDF SUEZ Platform

The Rt Hon Edward Davey MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, joined GDF SUEZ E&P U.K. in Aberdeen yesterday to witness the signing of another major contract with the U.K. supply chain for the Cygnus project. The deal with Burntisland Fabrication Ltd (BiFab) to construct the accommodation platform of the GDF SUEZ operated Cygnus development is one of several partnerships helping to deliver more investment and new jobs for U.K. companies. Cygnus Begins Jacket Fabrication

The ceremonial first cut of steel for the construction of the jackets on the Cygnus gas field project was celebrated today by operator GDF SUEZ E&P U.K. and partners Centrica Energy and Bayerngas at Burntisland Fabrication’s (BiFab) Methil yard in Fife, Scotland. This latest project milestone involves BiFab’s manufacturing facilities at Methil, Burntisland and Arnish and is expected to create 100 new jobs at Methil and 15 apprentice positions will be created at Methil and Burntisland.

East Coast UK Wind Farm: Final Turbine Installed

The 75th and final turbine has been installed at the Lincs Offshore Wind Farm. The installation marks a major milestone in the development of the 270MW project, which will be capable of producing enough energy to meet the annual power needs of more than 200,000 households – equivalent to two thirds of the homes in Lincolnshire, reports the Lincolnshire Echo. Construction of the project, located eight kilometres (five miles) off the coast of Skegness, started in 2010 with full commissioning expected later this year. Lincs is a joint venture between leading UK energy company Centrica Energy, DONG Energy and Siemens Project Ventures. When complete it will be managed from Centrica’s new operations and maintenance base in Grimsby, which was opened last year as a major new hub for the business.

Gas production has begun from the Rhyl gas field in Morecambe Bay, helping to secure the future of 400 North West jobs and boost energy security for the U.K. The Rhyl field, located 39km off the coast of Barrow, was first discovered in 2009 and is wholly owned and operated by Centrica Energy. Aker Kvaerner Wins Centrica Contract

Centrica has awarded Aker Kvaerner's Engineering Services a contract for the recertification of pressure safety valves for its operations based out of Morecambe Bay. The contract covers the offshore facilities, which consist of nine offshore platforms, two onshore gas processing terminals at Barrow (North Morecambe and South Morecambe terminals), and the Barrow Condensate Storage Facility. The contract is for a period of five years, with extension options of 2 one year periods. The Morecambe Field is an offshore, hydrocarbon gas reservoir divided into two sections (North and South). Gas is produced through offshore facilities, which are located approximately 25 miles west of Blackpool, Lancashire.
