DMCA Showcases Local Maritime Leadership

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) showcased Dubai's global maritime leadership in the presence of a high-level delegation from City of Glasgow College who commended the manner in which the outstanding experiences of the UAE maritime sector has transformed it into an internationally renowned maritime community. This was done during a visit by an academic delegation from the UK College to the DMCA head office in Dubai to promote collaboration in the vital fields of maritime training, research and studies. Amer Ali, Executive Director of the DMCA, accompanied the guests on a tour of Drydocks World which has been instrumental in achieving the ambitious aspiration of developing Dubai into one of the global Top Ten in terms of maritime efficiency, attractiveness, and competitiveness.

Latest DofD Navy Contracts

BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Alabama LLC, Mobile, Ala., is being awarded a $32,946,457 firm-fixed-price contract for the regular maintenance and overhaul of USNS Supply (T-AOE 6). This contract includes two additional options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the contract to $42,499,988. Work will be performed in Mobile, Ala., and is expected to be completed by October 2014. Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $23,124,445 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-12-C-2313) to exercise options for DDG 51 class lead yard services.

HII Wins U.S. Navy Support Services Contract

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (NYSE:HII) said its AMSEC LLC subsidiary has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy for functions related to integrated logistics support for Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) technical data development, maintenance and management services. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract contains a base period with two one-year option periods which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the contract to approximately $22m. "AMSEC has more than 30 years of experience delivering complete logistics and HM&E services to the U.S. fleet," said Harris Leonard, HII vice president and president of AMSEC operations.

New Navy Contract

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $6,862,387 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2303) to exercise an option for additional systems engineering and class logistics services associated with the detail design and construction of the DDG 1000 Zumwalt Class destroyer. Systems engineering efforts include detail design excursions, shock qualification, production process prototype manufacturing, and life cycle support services prior to post shakedown availability. Class logistics efforts provide for the continued development of integrated logistics support for the DDG 1000 class, including development of training curriculum, supply support documentation, maintenance analyses, and configuration status accounting.

BIW Wins $49m Navy Deal

Bath Iron Works Corporation (a General Dynamics Company), Bath Maine, is being awarded $49,383,758 cost-plus-award-fee modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2307) to exercise an option for accomplishment of the Lead Yard Class Services for the DDG 51 Class AEGIS destroyer program. This work will provide technical assistance to the Follow Yard in the interpretation and application of the detailed design developed by BIW Corp., the Lead Yard contractor.DDG 51 Class services include: Liaison for follow ship construction, general class services, class logistics services, class design agent services and class change design services for follow ships. Work will be performed in Bath, Maine, and is expected to be completed July 2008.

Crowley, Triunfo To Establish Joint Venture

Crowley Marine Services and Triunfo Operadora Portuaria Ltd., intend to form a joint venture to operate a deepwater logistics base in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. GAIA Comercial Exterior will participate as Crowley's Brazilian representative for energy logistics services. The partners announced the joint venture during a signing ceremony at Rio's prestigious Naval Club. The deepwater logistics base will be located at Triunfo's marine terminal on Guanabara Bay and will manage the complex logistics and transportation required to support deepwater exploration and production in the Campos and Santos basins of Brazil. The base will feature over 300 m of dedicated dock space with 7.5 m draft, as well as significant open and covered warehousing, cranes, and material handling equipment.
