SALEM, N.H., May 5, 2011 – L-3 Klein Associates, Inc. (L-3 Klein) announced today the first deliveries of its HarborGuard Integrated Waterside Security and Surveillance System for a major U.S. security upgrade program. With its ability to provide immediate alerts and updated threat positions, L-3’s HarborGuard System is a key component of new security measures throughout the U.S. that provide continuous coverage and monitoring of all surface activity around dams, with special attention on security zones to protect critical infrastructure. HarborGuard solves the unique challenges of providing security to dams that have dramatic changes in water levels.

L-3 Applied Technologies, a division of L-3 Communications, introduced a backpack concept of its SteraMist decontamination system on March 16 at the 2009 Seatrade Cruise Shipping Miami Conference and Trade Show. SteraMist, originally designed for microbiological disinfection in hospitals, pharmaceutical, tissue bank and other health care facilities, is now available in a mobile unit suited to norovirus decontamination aboard cruise ships. The L-3 Applied Technologies business, based in San Diego, Calif., is focused on advanced technology sterilization, high energy and survivability solutions for both military and commercial applications.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Integrated Coast Guard Systems, and Lockheed Martin completed the final phase of the $20m Command, Control, Computers, Communications Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) simulator at Training Center Petaluma in Petaluma, Calif. The completion of this state-of-the-art training suite represents a milestone in the Coast Guard's $24b, 25-year modernization and recapitalization plan known as Deepwater. As a result of commonality between Coast Guard and Navy C4ISR equipment, the training simulator provides both Coast Guard and Navy crews a safe, high fidelity environment to develop the skills and expertise needed to sail the military's newest, most capable ships into the 21st Century.

Northrop Grumman Corp. named Robert Iorizzo as president of the Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector group, the company's largest business. Iorizzo replaces James Roche, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as secretary of the U.S. Air Force. The change was made effective immediately, Northrop said. Iorizzo previously served as vice president and general manager of the sector's Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Naval Systems division. The sensors and systems business has expanded recently with Northrop's acquisition of Litton Industries Inc. Litton's $1.6 billion advanced electronics businesses was integrated into Northrop's operation and the division is now expected to generate 2001 revenues of $4.5 billion.
