Shearwater in 'Pioneering' Seismic Survey Project Offshore Norway

Offshore seismic survey specialist Shearwater on Friday announced a new project with the Austrian oil firm OMV for a "pioneering" towed streamer survey with Ocean Bottom Nodes over the Berling gas and condensate discovery in the Norwegian Sea. Mossel Bay Port Ready to Serve Total

President Energy's Update on Lapacho Well

President Energy gave a mid-November update on the progress of the Lapacho well, Chaco Region, Paraguay. The well has been drilled to 4,490m since setting casing at 4,125m. President has previously announced that a light oil/condensate discovery had been made higher up the well in the Icla Formation and that drilling would continue to penetrate the main Santa Rosa target. Total Sells Its 10% Interest In Shah Deniz To TPAO

Total today signed an agreement to sell its 10% interest in the Shah Deniz field and the South Caucasus Pipeline to TPAO, the Turkish state-owned E&P company. The transaction is valued at $1.5 billion and is subject to customary approvals. “The sale of our interest in Shah Deniz is in line with Total’s active portfolio management and the focus of its investment capability on more strategic assets,” said Michael Borrell, Senior Vice-President Continental Europe and Central Asia at Total’s Exploration and Production. “This sale is another step forward in achieving our asset sale program. In Azerbaidjan, Total remains operator of the Absheron offshore field with a 40% share.

Statoil Posts 2013 Third Quarter Results

Statoil's third quarter 2013 net operating income was NOK 39.3 billion. Adjusted earnings were NOK 40.4 billion. "Statoil delivered strong strategic progress in the third quarter. We added high-value barrels through the Bay du Nord discovery offshore Canada, the world's largest oil discovery this year. We also announced a major divestment to capture value created through asset development and unlock capital for investment in high return projects. Our operational performance is good and we delivered solid earnings in the period," said Helge Lund, Statoil's president and CEO. Statoil's net operating income of NOK 39.3 billion in the third quarter was positively impacted by gain from sale of assets. Refinery impairments and commercial provisions impacted the financial result negatively.

EPC Offshore Signs Deal with Total on Edradour

Aberdeen-based project management and development engineering specialist EPC Offshore has signed an agreement with Total E&P UK Ltd. (TEP UK) to provide support services at its natural gas and condensate discovery in the Atlantic. Edradour, located in Block 206/4 of the U.K. Continental Shelf, is expected to start pumping in 2016, will be linked to the $3.3 billion Laggan/Tormore development west of the Shetland Islands. EPC Offshore will provide project management services for the development as part of a six month contract worth in excess of £260,000.

GDF Suez E&P Awards North Sea Austen Field Contract

GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd awards a £1.4 million joint study to Xodus Group and Atkins for Concept Select work for the Austen (formerly Jacqui) field in the Central North Sea, with a further option to proceed into the Concept Definition phase. The studies will identify development and export options for the field. Aberdeen-based Xodus and Atkins will start work immediately with completion scheduled for Q1 2014. The contract follows the successful drilling of an appraisal well by GDF SUEZ E&P UK in 2012 and was bid against competition from other UK and European contractors. It is the start of several workscopes currently being planned by GDF SUEZ E&P UK to support its Central North Sea development portfolio.

Significant Gas and Condensate Discovery in the North Sea

Statoil has made a significant gas and condensate discovery in the King Lear prospect in the southern part of the Norwegian North Sea along with its partner Total E&P Norge. Exploration well 2/4-21 drilled by the jack-up rig Maersk Gallant in production licences 146 and 333, has proven a 48-metre gas/condensate column in the main bore 2/4-21 and an additional 70-metre gas/condensate column in the side-track 2/4-21A. Statoil estimates the total volumes in King Lear to be between 70 and 200 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent (o.e.).

Production Begins at Tyrihans

StatoilHydro has begun production from the Tyrihans oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea. The new field comprises Tyrihans South, an oil field with a gas cap, and Tyrihans North, a gas and condensate discovery with a thin oil zone. The recoverable volumes in the reservoirs are 186 million barrels of oil and condensate, and 41.5 million standard cubic m of gas. Its proximity to other fields on the Halten Bank allows Tyrihans to use existing infrastructure.
