Nippon Paint Marine Upgrades Its Hull Monitoring Solution

Nippon Paint Marine said it has enhanced its existing hull condition monitoring software by adding the XSHIP Performance tool to its established KP Analysis fuel saving system.While Nippon Paint Marineā€™s in-house KP Analysis Teamā€™s service has been offered to verify the fuel and power saving of its low-friction LF-Sea antifouling range since 2006, the introduction of the ISO 19030 standard in 2016 has been widely accepted by the industry as a means of verifying the performance of hull coatings.According to the coatings manufacturerā€¦

BHGE Deploys VitalyX for Topaz

Offshore marine logistics company, Topaz Energy and Marine has entered into a long-term agreement with the GE company Baker Hughes (BHGE) for its proprietary lubricant condition monitoring system, VitalyX.The two firms will collaborate on boosting the maintenance and upkeep of Topazā€™s fleet of vessels and increase the field time for each vessel.VitalyX is expected to be deployed on the entire module carrying vessel (MCV) fleet for Topaz in late 2019 and is the largest single collaboration with the technology since being first unveiled at BHGEā€™s Annual Meeting in January.Utilising the Internet of Things (IoT) by combining the latest sensor hardware with condition monitoring softwareā€¦

Stolt Tankers Chooses Mimic Condition Monitoring Software

New Condition Monitoring Guidance from ABS

ABS has published two documents to help industry with condition monitoring. The new ABS Guidance Notes on Condition Monitoring Techniques helps owners choose appropriate monitoring techniques, and the ABS Guide for Surveys Based on Machinery Reliability and Maintenance Techniques provides updated methodologies for achieving classification notations applied to machinery reliability and maintenance management programs. The newly issued Guidance Notes include a summary of condition-monitoring techniques, guidance for selecting the appropriate technique based on expectations and needs, information on measurement frequency, personnel skill requirements, company resources and approaches to risk assessment.

Noon Fuel Reports Don't Cut It Says NAPA

NAPA asserts that traditional noon reports donā€™t give the quantity or quality of data needed by owners in modern shipping. NAPA, a maritime software house for ship design and operations point out that bunker fuel readings for most international vessels are taken as daily ā€˜noon reportsā€™ - collected onboard and send to the shipowner on a daily basis during a vesselā€™s voyage. Mimic Shipping Classification Report

Martin Briddon MBE from James Fisher Mimic, provider of engineering and condition monitoring services and part of the James Fisher Group, will launch the Mimic Shipping Classification Report at the Lloyds List Condition Monitoring in Shipping conference. Generated from within the Mimic Condition Monitoring software, the report will combine condition monitoring and vibration data together with information from AMOS Maintenance & Purchase and present it in electronic or hardcopy versions to a visiting Class Surveyor. Created in conjunction with Lloyds Register, this report will allow ship operators to present machinery information required for class survey.
