Knutsen Orders Four ME-GI Engines

Norwegian operator Knutsen OAS Shipping has ordered four MAN B&W 5G70ME-GI engines with EGR systems in connection with the construction of two 180,000 m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker newbuildings. Upon delivery in 2020, the vessels will transport cargoes worldwide for two Spanish utility companies. According to the engine’s manufacturer MAN Diesel & Turbo, the order follows the increasingly popular path initiated by Gas Natural Fenosa, the multinational Spanish group that was the pioneer in adopting ME-GI technology in an order for four LNG tankers in 2013.

Dredging Contract Awarded for Corpus Christi LNG Terminal

U.S. dredging services provider Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation announced it was awarded a contract for work on an export terminal under the development of Corpus Christi Liquefaction, LLC (CCL). CCL, a subsidiary of Cheniere Energy, Inc., is developing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal at a site located on the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay in San Patricio and Nueces Counties, Texas. Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation’s portion of the LNG project involves the dredging and slope protection of two LNG carrier ship berths, dredging of a material offloading and tug mooring basin and expansion of an existing La Quinta Channel turning basin.

Cheniere to Sell LNG from Corpus Christi to Portugal

Cheniere Energy, Inc announced today that its subsidiary, Corpus Christi Liquefaction, LLC  has entered into a liquefied natural gas ("LNG") sale and purchase agreement ("SPA") with EDP Energias de Portugal S.A. ("EDP") under which EDP has agreed to purchase approximately 0.77 million tonnes per annum ("mtpa") of LNG upon the commencement of operations of Train 3 of the LNG export facility being developed near Corpus Christi, Texas (the "Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project"). The Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project is being designed and permitted for up to three trains, with aggregate design production capacity of approximately 13.5 mtpa of LNG.
