Aker BP has awarded a new frame agreement to DNV GL, covering a wide range of safety, verification, inspection and classification services across its installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The five-year contract, which includes options for extension, will see DNV GL experts integrated into Aker BP’s organization to provide decision-making support and stand-alone assessments. “This contract represents an important step forward in DNV GL’s long relationship with BP Norway and Det norske oljeselskap, as the companies merge to form Aker BP,” said Kjell Eriksson, regional manager, Norway, DNV GL – Oil & Gas. Global Maritime Deep Sea Mooring, a provider of offshore mooring services in Norway, has signed a contract with Norwegian operator Det norske oljeselskap to support Prosafe’s semi-submersible Safe Zephyrus accommodation rig in the Ivar Aasen North Sea field. Customer-case shows potential for a 40% reduction in engineering hours on subsea paperwork, and up to 80% less documentation. A cross-industry project led by DNV GL to halt the boom in subsea documentation shows that implementing a standardized approach can significantly reduce engineering hours. The two-year collaboration led by DNV GL has concluded in a publicly available Recommended Practice which can reduce the amount of subsea documentation and enable documentation reuse in a typical subsea field development project. DNVGL-RP-O101 ‘Technical documentation for subsea projects’ details a required minimum set of documentation transferred between E&P companies, operators and contractors for the construction, procurement and operation of a field.

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has been awarded a contract by Samsung Heavy Industries for the transportation of the three topside modules of the riser platform and the topside of the processing platform for the Johan Sverdrup project offshore Norway. The contract carries a value of approximately USD 40 million. The modules will be transported by Dockwise in three journeys. A Dockwise type I heavy transport vessel will transport two topside modules of the riser platform with a total weight of more than 20,000 MT and a Dockwise type II vessel will transport the third 6,000 MT module in the first half of 2018. The modules will be transported from the yard in Geoje, South Korea to the project site offshore Norway where they will be offloaded.

Aker Solutions will deliver a concept study on a new processing platform for future phases of the Statoil-operated Johan Sverdrup North Sea field, Norway's largest oil find in three decades. The study includes design solutions for a tie-in of the platform and future satellites to the field center that is being developed in the project's first phase. The work will be carried out by Aker Solutions in Oslo and Stavanger and will be delivered in the summer. "Johan Sverdrup is of major importance to Norway's oil industry and we're very pleased to expand our involvement through work on future phases," said Valborg Lundegaard, head of engineering at Aker Solutions. The study is being carried out under the framework engineering agreement awarded to Aker Solutions for Johan Sverdrup in 2013.

Statoil, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup license, has awarded Samsung the contract for decks for both the process and riser platforms. The total contract value is NOK 7 billion. The contract is a fabrication contract (FC) of decks for the process and riser platforms. Aker Solutions has previously been awarded engineering work and purchase of equipment packages for the two aforementioned decks. The function of the process platform, which weighs approx. 26,000 tonnes, is to ensure stabilisation of the oil and processing into rich gas. The riser platform, which weighs approx. 22,000 tonnes, will serve oil and gas exports, water and gas injection, as well as any future connections.

Statoil, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup licence, has awarded two contracts at a total value of more than NOK 4.35 billion to Odfjell Drilling for drilling wells on the Johan Sverdrup field. Odfjell Drilling has been awarded contracts both for the Deepsea Atlantic semi-submersible rig and for drilling services on the fixed drilling unit to be installed on the Johan Sverdup field. The rig contract includes the charter of the Deepsea Atlantic rig for three years, starting from March 2016. In addition there are six 6-months options. The rig contract has a value of slightly more than NOK 2.5 billion. “This contract is an important milestone for the Johan Sverdrup project.

Statoil has, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup partnership, awarded a contract to ABB for land-based power supply to phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field. The contract value is around NOK 1.1 billion, and covers delivery of electrical equipment for a converter station by the Kårstø processing complex at Haugsneset in the municipality of Tysvær, and a power module on the riser platform at the Johan Sverdrup field centre. The total cost of the power supply to phase 1 has been estimated at around NOK 6 billion (2015 value). Statoil, on behalf of the Johan Sverdrup partnership, will sign a contract with Aibel today for the construction of the deck for the drilling platform on the field. The contract is worth in excess of NOK 8 billion. The contract includes engineering work, procurement and construction (EPC) of the drilling platform deck. The platform deck will be built at the Aibel’s yard in Thailand and Haugesund, and at Nymo’s yard in Grimstad. Assembly and mechanical completion of the deck will be carried out at the Aibel’s yard in Haugesund with delivery in 2018. Keppel FELS Limited has delivered the ultra-harsh jackup rig, Maersk Integrator, to Maersk Drilling, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, thirty days ahead of schedule, on budget and with a perfect safety record. The rig was named at a ceremony today in Keppel FELS by Ms Margareth Øvrum, Executive Vice President, Technology, Projects and Drilling, Statoil. Maersk Integrator is an XL Enhanced (XLE) harsh environment jackup rig and the third in the XLE series delivered to Maersk Drilling. It has been customised for operations in the North Sea and has been chartered on a four year term by Statoil for development drilling in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The AVEVA solution allows Det norske to benefit from improved information quality within its projects and to reduce the time it takes to access key technical information. AVEVA’s Progressive Handover Solution is made possible by AVEVA’s industry leading Digital Information Hub technology enabling Det norske to accept data from various sources, regardless of software system. Operator Statoil has together with PL272 partners made a gas discovery in the Askja West prospect and an oil discovery in the Askja East prospect in the North Sea. The exploration wells  30/11-9 S and 30/11-9 A, drilled by the drilling rig Ocean Vanguard, are located between the Oseberg and Frigg fields and about 13 km southeast of the Statoil-operated Krafla/Krafla West discoveries. Main wellbore 30/11-9 S tested the Askja West prospect and proved a net gas column of 90 metres in Late and Middle Jurassic rocks.

The platform supply vessel Blue Guardian was delivered from Ulstein to Blue Ship Invest on June 28, 2013. The vessel is contracted to work in the North Sea. Blue Guardian is the fifth in a series of six platform supply vessels (PSV) of the PX121 design from Ulstein Verft, and the vessel is under the management of Remøy Shipping. From mid-July, the ship has been contracted by Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA and Repsol Exploration respectively, to support the jack-up rig Maersk Giant in its work on two subsea wells on the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea.

Ulstein’s yno 298, Blue Guardian, a platform supply vessel of the Ulstein PX121 design, has been contracted to support the jack-up rig Maersk Giant in its work on two subsea wells on the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea. The contracts with Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA and Repsol Exploration, respectively, have an estimated total duration of four months. Blue Guardian is in her final phase of construction, and is scheduled for delivery from Ulstein Verft at the turn of this month. The estimated start-up of the contractual work is in mid-July.

Maersk Drilling receives two-year term extension for newbuild jack-up rig 'XL Enhanced 2'. Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) has on behalf of the partners in the Ivar Aasen project, exercised its contractual right to extend the contract for the newbuild ultra harsh environment jack-up, XL Enhanced 2, by two years. Consequently, the duration of the firm contract is now five years. The estimated value of the two-year contract extension is approximately USD 280 million, bringing the total estimated contract value to approximately USD 700 million. Det norske has options to extend the contract up to a total of seven years. The rig is currently under construction at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore.

EMAS AMC, the subsea services division of EMAS, a global offshore contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas industry, was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract, valued at approximately US$165 million, from Det norske oljeselskap ASA, an exploration and drilling operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The contract is for rigid pipe-lay and related subsea work, in the Ivar Aasen field in the Norwegian North Sea.

Sembcorp Marine subsidiary SMOE secures a Letter of Intent for an EPC Contract to build an offshore platform integrated topside. The contract worth about S$900 million, is from Det norske oljeselskap ASA, Norway, for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the process, drilling and quarters Platform (pdQ) topsides to be installed at a water depth of 112 metres for the Ivar Aasen development in the North Sea. The Ivar Aasen project is situated west of the Johan Sverdrup-field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, 180km west of Stavanger, containing approximately 150 million barrels of oil equivalents. Statoil has completed another appraisal well in PL265 in the Johan Sverdrup discovery together with partners Petoro, Det norske oljeselskap and Lundin Petroleum. "We are satisfied with the results of our appraisal program in PL265 part of Johan Sverdrup in 2012. We have proven new volumes to Johan Sverdrup in the Geitungen segment, and drilled two important appraisal wells in the central and southern parts of the licence”, says Gro Haatvedt, senior vice president Exploration Norway.
