Corvus Energy Systems Get More Scandline Hybrid Ferry Orders

Corvus Energy informs it has again been selected as the Energy Storage System (ESS) of choice by Scandlines for their next three hybrid ferries. Based on successful operation of Scandline’s first hybrid, the 'MF Prinsesse Benedikte', the next 3 hybrids will use a 2.7MWh ESS consisting of Corvus Energy AT6500 advanced lithium polymer batteries integrated with Siemens drive systems. Maersk Training Appoint Stuart Cameron UK Managing Director

Stuart Cameron, who was previously managing Maersk Training in Newcastle, will now oversee both UK training centres in Aberdeen and Newcastle, and will be responsible for driving further the company’s expansion plans in the growing UK Oil & Gas, Maritime and Offshore Wind sectors. Prior to joining Maersk Training, Cameron was head of global sales and marketing at Romax Technology, a leading provider of advanced simulation technologies, design expertise and consulting services for gearbox and driveline systems.

Corvus Batteries to Power Hybrid Ferry Conversion

Corvus Energy to provide world’s largest ever hybrid propulsion marine battery pack for a Scandline diesel-electric ferry conversion. Corvus will provide Scandline with a 2.7MWh power pack consisting of an AT6500 advanced lithium polymer battery system for a conversion in an existing diesel electric ferry that delivers significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved maintenance costs and optimized engine performance. The ferry will be the first of its size and represents an early example of a change to greener transportation methods in the marine sector.

Elbe & Sohn, Incorporated will exhibit its full range of drive shafts, universal joints, power transmission yokes and more in Booth Number 674 at The International Workboat Show, December 3-5, 2003 in New Orleans. The Elbe & Sohn staff of sales and application engineers will be on hand to provide driveline systems and solutions to OEM’s and end-users alike. Elbe can now match output flanges for most marine transmissions, and the DIN style flange is standard on many jet drives and reduction gears. Elbe shafts are also available in wing style and SAE sizes, for drive shafts up to 24,000 Nm capacities, including 3 available sizes of constant velocity joints and 3 sizes of direct connect flanges for ZF® marine transmissions, designed specifically for the commercial marine industry.
