National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) has taken delivery of Khurais, a very large crude carrier (VLCC), from Korean Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI). Bahri Adds VLCC 'Lawhah' to its Fleet
The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) received a very large crude carrier (VLCC) named âLawhahâ on Thursday, the company said. "Continuing its strong start to 2018, Bahri accepted the delivery of âLawhah to further cement its market-dominant position in crude oil transportation," said a press release. The vessel, which lifts the total number of the companyâs multipurpose fleet to 90, is the second of five VLCCs to be received this year from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), the worldâs largest shipbuilding company based in South Korea. Bahri took the delivery of Lawhah at a ceremony held at the HSHIâs Mokpo shipyard in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, on February 1, 2018.
Bahri Reinforces Americas Commitment
Reinforcing its three-decade-long presence in North America, transportation and logistics firm Bahri took part in Breakbulk Americas, being held from October 17-19, in Houston. Bulk Carrier Sinks, Crew Rescued
All crew members of the bulk carrier Henry Navigator, en route to Cape Town, were airlifted to safety as the vessel capsized and sank in heavy seas. The 13,000 dwt carrier reportedly sunk about 22 miles off Bok Point.
Bergesen Orders Two More VLCCs From HZ
Bergesen d.y. Group ASA exercised an option to buy two more VLCCs from Japan's Hitachi Zosen Corp. The total option price for the 296,000 dwt vessels is about $131.7 million. The two vessels will be delivered in March and May, 2001. Bergesen also announced that it has bought oil/ore carrier Grand Phoenix for $23 million. The 291,000-dwt carrier, built in Japan in 1986, will be delivered by the end of March.
