A clash between trading house Vitol and Azerbaijan's SOCAR over Caspian Sea oil shipments is forcing Turkmenistan to slash exports of crude due to a lack of tankers.Turkmenistan typically exports about 200,000 tonnes of oil per month via the Caspian to world markets, mainly from fields operated by the UAE's ENOC and Italy's Eni, but flows have halved in recent weeks, six traders involved in operations said. That happened after Turkmen producers decided to export oil via Russia with the help of Swiss trader Vitol and ditch the previous Azeri routeā€¦

Russia to Supply Coal, Electricity to Ukraine

Russia has agreed on a new deal to supply coal and electricity to Ukraine, which is struggling with a lack of raw fuel for power plants due to a separatist conflict in the industrial east, Russian officials said on Saturday. The move comes a day after Kiev said it would suspend train and bus services to Crimea, effectively creating a transportation blockade to and from the region annexed by Moscow in March this year. Kiev has briefly cut off electricity to Crimea before. Russia will supply coal and electricity to Kiev without advance payment as a goodwill gesture from President Vladimir Putin, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS news agency. "Putin made a decision to start these supplies due to the critical situation with energy supplies and despite a lack of prepayment," Peskov said.

Pemex Crude Output Lowest In March

Crude oil production from Mexico's state-run oil company Pemex totaled 2.469 million barrels per day (bpd) in March, the company said on Friday, marking the lowest level of output since the 1990s. The level of crude production in March was the lowest level of monthly output since June 1990, according to energy ministry data, excluding a single month in 1995 when output was down by more than 800,000 due to Hurricane Roxanne. Meanwhile, crude oil export volumes in March were down 11 percent at 1.133 million bpd compared to the previous month, Pemex said, which was the lowest level of shipments since June. Since hitting peak production of 3.38 million bpd in 2004, Mexican crude output has slid by a quarter to settle at 2.52 million bpd last year.
