Qatargas Delivers First Q-Flex LNG Cargo

The world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) has delivered the first LNG cargo onboard a Q-Flex vessel to Greece’s Revithoussa LNG terminal.Doha-based global energy operator said in a press release that  this is for the first time that a Q-Flex LNG vessel has called at the terminal ever since it underwent an expansion drive late last year.The cargo, which was loaded at the Ras Laffan Terminal in Qatar on 3rd July 2019, arrived at the Revithoussa Terminal on board the Q-Flex vessel, 'Al Gharrafa', on 20th July 2019.The Q-Flex cargo is part of yet another multi-port delivery executed by Qatargas.

First LNG Cargo Aboard Q-Flex Carrier in Turkey

Qatargas, the world's largest liquefied natural gas company, has announced the safe delivery of the largest single cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Marmara LNG Terminal in Turkey.The super-chilled LNG was delivered on board the Q-Flex vessel ‘Al Sheehaniya’, which enters the record books as the first ever Q-Flex vessel to call at the recently expanded Marmara LNG Terminal.A press release from the Qatar-based global energy operator quoted Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer, Qatargas as sayig: “The recent expansion of Marmara LNG Terminal allows Qatargas to send the world's largest LNG vessels to yet another LNG terminal in Turkey.""With 14 LNG trains and a total annual production capacity of 77 million tonnes…

Qatargas, EGAT Exploring LNG Collaboration

Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaborative efforts in the LNG business. Under the terms of the MoU, the parties will jointly identify and evaluate best practices in the LNG industry, particularly in the sharing of knowledge and expertise inprocurement of LNG, LNG transportation, and floating storage and regasification units (FSRU). In addition, the MoU includes a scope for the possible supply of LNG to the Kingdom of Thailand. Qatargas-RasGas Merger

The integration of RasGas with Qatargas will enable the world’s largest LNG exporter to save QR2bn ($550 million) a year, Qatar Petroleum (QP), the state-owned energy giant, announced. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum made the announcement in a press conference held at QP headquarters in the presence of representatives of ExxonMobil, Total, ConocoPhillips, and Shell - the main international shareholders in both companies. Al-Kaabi said “Our aim was to integrate the two companies’ resources and capabilities to create a truly unique global energy operator in terms of size, service and reliability. We also aimed to create higher value for our stakeholders, and enhance the competitive position of the Qatari gas industry.

Qatar Merges State-Owned LNG Producers

Qatar, the world’s largest liquified natural gas producer, announced it is to merge state-owned Qatargas and RasGas to create a “truly unique global energy operator”, says an AP report. The country is merging its two government-controlled LNG companies to streamline distribution of the fuel as the OPEC nation grapples with a slump in energy prices. The announcement was made at a press conference held at QP headquarters in the presence of representatives of the main international shareholders in both companies including ExxonMobil, Total, ConocoPhillips, and Shell, and the CEOs of Qatargas and RasGas. Al-Kaabi said the move would save “hundreds of millions of dollars”, without elaborating over what timeframe this would be achieved.

Qatargas' Beach Clean-up Day at Al Ghariya

A large number of Qatargas employees participated in the third annual Qatargas beach clean-up held on Saturday (23rd April) at Al Ghariya beach, 85 kilometers North of Doha. Qatargas launched the annual beach clean-up day initiative in 2013 in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, as part of the Company’s continued commitment towards promoting environmental protection and preserving the natural beauty of the State of Qatar for generations to come. Viking O&M Secures Rig Contract from a Chinese Firm

Viking Offshore & Marine has secured a 48-month charter for a second land drilling rig system for US$31 million ($41.8 million). Viking’s subsidiary Viking LR2 will charter the 1,500-bhp train-type land rig and related drilling equipment system to a Chinese land rig specialist. It will be immediately deployed on a North African oilfield concession jointly owned by a South Asian energy operator and the local energy authority. The first land rig was acquired from and leased back to the same charterer in September 2014 which used it to uncover natural gas. After positive assessment of hydrocarbon potential in the locality, the second rig was chartered to accelerate drilling activities.

Oil Production gets Disrupted in Iraqi Kurdistan

Oil companies in Iraqi Kurdistan began withdrawing more staff on Friday in the siege of militants from the Islamic State to the capital of the region, with Afren became the first to announce that he was reducing their production. Shares in London-listed oil and operating in northern Iraq fell for a second day because the closure and evacuation of personnel at other sites became more likely in a region hitherto considered relatively safe compared to rest of the country. The United Islamic group considered non-Muslims and adherents of Shia Islam as apostates and in many cities that has taken control made a tough proposition: become, escape or die.

Viking Wins $32m Charter Contract for Drilling System

Viking Offshore & Marine Limited (Viking) which is building a portfolio of mainstream offshore, marine and drilling assets, said today that it has secured a 50-month bareboat charter for a land rig system worth approximately US $32 million. Under the contract, SGX-listed Viking’s wholly owned subsidiary Viking Asset  a Chinese land rig specialist from September 2014. The Chinese rig builder, which specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of land rigs, has secured a contract with a major South-Asian energy operator, which will deploy the rig in North-Africa. Drilling will commence immediately on oil exploration sites licensed to the joint venture of the South-Asian energy operator and the local energy authorities.

New Safer Vessel Transfer System

Scira Offshore Energy, operator of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, will utilise a new UK-designed vessel transfer system to provide its wind farm technicians with safe and reliable access to wind turbines in a range of weather conditions. The safe transfer of wind farm technicians from vessels to the turbines is a key challenge for the industry. This new transfer system, known as MaXcess and produced by Northumberland-based OSBIT Power Limited, has been chosen for Sheringham Shoal following extensive trials, including at Statoil’s Hywind demonstration floating wind turbine in Norway.

J. Ray McDermott Awarded Australian Project

McDermott International subsidiary J. Ray McDermott, S.A. won a $77 million contract by Woodside Energy Ltd., operator of the North West Shelf Venture's LNG Phase V Expansion project in Australia. Under the contract, J. Ray will undertake construction engineering, procurement, fabrication, assembly and erection of 75 pre-assembled module and pipe rack units totaling nearly 22,000 short tons. Completed modules and pipe racks will be shipped from J. Ray's Batam Island, Indonesian fabrication facility to Western Australia, and transported to the Venture's LNG facilities on the Barrup Peninsula where the new LNG "Train V" is being constructed.
