Australia, New Zealand Navies Intercepts Drugs off Africa
A combined Australian and New Zealand operation 260 km off the coast of Africa has seized more than 5.6 metric tons of cannabis resin worth an estimated $280 million (AUD). The five day operation involved Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Toowoomba and a Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K2 Orion which was called to assist in bad weather. During an exhaustive search this week, the Australian boarding party discovered cannabis resin in hessian bags stowed in a hidden compartment on the dhow.
The Landing School Names Schuhmann President
The Landing School’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that it has named the 4th President of the Landing School. Richard J. Schuhmann, Ph.D., a former student at The Landing School and currently a Senior Lecturer and Program Manager at MIT, will begin as The Landing School’s next President on September 1, 2014. After an exhaustive search, Dr. Schuhmann was appointed on the unanimous recommendation of the Board of Trustees. Body of Missing Boater Found in Lake Michigan
The search for a missing man in Lake Michigan ended Tuesday afternoon as search crews from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police located the body of the man on the shore of Lake Michigan in northern Muskegon County, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) said in a press announcement this afternoon. The search commenced Monday night after a watchstander at Coast Guard Station Ludington, Michigan, received a phone call from the man’s friend reporting that the man had not reached his destination. The missing man left Whitehall Marina in Whitehall, Michigan, at 1 p.m. and told his friend that he was going to sail 39 miles north in Lake Michigan to Snug Harbor in Pentwater Lake. When the man had not reached Snug Harbor by 7 p.m., his friend called Coast Guard Station Ludington.
