Survitec Completes Blue Anchor Acquisition

VIKING, NK Group Join Forces

Leading Danish marine and fire safety equipment and servicing provider VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has signed a multi-year global servicing agreement with NK Group, a major Korean supplier of firefighting systems and related equipment, laying the foundations for a strong business alliance between the two companies. According to the agreement, VIKING will become NK’s preferred service provider, carrying out marine fire servicing and sourcing original spare parts for the Korean company’s customers around the world. VIKING’s technicians have been specially trained in NK Group’s systems, in accordance with the IMO’s MSC.1/Circ.1432 revised guidelines, and have gained access to support and technical data directly from the new alliance partner.

Viking Acquires Hook Retrofit leader

Leading marine and fire safety equipment and servicing provider VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S has today announced the acquisition of Nadiro A/S, a company owned by maritime and energy conglomerate Maersk Group and SH Group. Established in 2009, Svendborg, Denmark-based Nadiro manufactures high-quality lifeboat and rescue craft systems, developing and promoting its Drop-in-BallTM technology to help ensure crew safety. VIKING has had the status of Preferred Distributor and Service Provider, supplying the company’s LRRSs (lifeboat release and retrieval systems) to enable the world’s shipowners to comply with new SOLAS regulations by or before 2019. Hook retrofitting is necessary to prevent serious accidents resulting from unsafe lifeboat deployment systems.

Viking to Upgrade, Service Topaz Life Rafts

Topaz Energy and Marine, an offshore support vessel (OSV) company, and marine and fire safety equipment company VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has jointly announced the signing of a multimillion dollar, 10-year life-raft servicing agreement. Under the terms of the contract, Viking will upgrade all of Topaz’s current life rafts and manage the ongoing servicing and certification of Topaz’s life raft fleet. “This agreement significantly enhances our ability to operate safely which is a top priority for Topaz and for our clients” says Topaz CEO, René Kofod-Olsen.

VIKING continues its march forward in Europe and Asia with four new, well-equipped servicing stations opening in November. Marine and fire safety equipment manufacturer VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has announced it is opening four servicing stations at Brest (France), Split (Croatia), Kaohsiung (Taiwan) and Port Klang (Malaysia). The new ports further expand the company’s already dense network of stations in Europe and Asia. The new facility at Split, on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, is the first VIKING-owned station in Croatia.

BV Launches New Rules for Yachts, Megayachts

Bureau Veritas is launching a fully updated set of classification rules for yachts and megayachts. The Rules cover design approval, material and equipment certification and construction surveillance at the yard for single yacht building or for production in large series following an alternative survey scheme. Motor and sailing yachts of mono or multi hull type, built in steel, aluminium alloys or composite materials are covered. A major addition to the new Rules is a set of standards applicable to very large charter yachts and yachts with over 12 passengers. These standards bridge the gap between international conventions applying to passenger ships and yacht industry standards.
