Future of the Fjords: New Zero Emission Passenger Vessel

The Fjords DA has confirmed that is building a sister ship to the diesel-electric plug-in hybrid Vision of the Fjords, launched in 2016. However, unlike its predecessor, this 42m long carbon fibre vessel will be all electric and completely emission free. The Future of the Fjords is slated for launch in April 2018. Currently under construction at specialist shipbuilder Brødrene Aa, the new vessel retains Vision of the Fjords’ eye-catching ‘mountain path’ design and environmentally friendly build, with a hull that minimizes wake and reduces shoreline impact erosion.

Vision of The Fjords, a futuristic carbon fiber tourist vessel operated by The Fjords DA, has won the Ship of the Year 2016 accolade at SMM in Hamburg. The 40-meter-long, 399-passenger-capacity hybrid craft, which was completed by Brødrene Aa this summer, scooped the award for its unique approach to sustainable, sensitive and high quality operations in the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Nærøyfjord. Vision of The Fjords looks, and operates, like nothing else on the water. Designed with lines that resemble the zigzagging mountain paths of the Western Norwegian fjords it traverses…

Passenger Vessel Spotlight: Vision of The Fjords

The Fjords DA, operator of seven tourist ships in the Western Norwegian fjords, has revealed the name of the latest addition to its fleet. To be christened Vision of The Fjords, the 40m long hybrid craft is designed to push the possibilities of green technology and passenger experience. The 400-passenger capacity Vision of The Fjords, to be launched in June, is built from carbon fiber and has been designed with lines that resemble a twisting mountain path, complementing the scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Nærøyfjord it will voyage along.
