Elengy Says Received Delivery of LNG Cargo at Fos
French terminal operator Elengy said on Thursday that it had received delivery of a cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its Fos terminal on Wednesday, and expected to receive six more deliveries in February. Elengy said it was the third cargo it had received in the month of January. The delivery could ease supply pressure in southern France where prices hit record highs last week and the spread with prices in the north widened further due to tight supply following a force majeure in Algeria. French southern gas hub contract was at 40.200 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh) on Thursday, down 0.62 percent, sharply lower from its Friday high of 45 euros/MWh. Oil Product Ships Disrupted In French Fos Strike -Port
Strike action at 's state-administered Autonomous Port of Marseille, which encompasses the oil terminals of Fos-Lavera, continued to disrupt activity there, with 19 oil and gas vessels affected, the Tuesday. The Lavera terminal is closed, the port said in a statement, adding the Fos terminal is working, albeit slowly. Five ships are being unloaded at the Fos petroleum terminal, the said. The port said the 24 vessels included 11 tankers of refined petroleum products; seven crude oil tankers; one gas tanker; four ships containing chemicals and one container ship. Workers are organizing the strike action to protest a government privatization plan.
Marseilles Confirms Development Link
A development partnership including the Port of Marseilles Authority (PMA) has outlined plans for further expansion of inland waterways traffic following 60% growth in five years. The latest objectives, focusing on container and dry bulk trades for the period 2008-2012, maintain a co-operation agreement signed in 2002 by the port, waterways authority Voies Navigables de France and the Compagnie Nationale du Rhone (CNR) covering 550km of waterways in the Rhone-Saone corridor. In the first five years of the initiative, total cargo volumes for containers, oil products and dry/liquid bulks rose from 1.8 to 2.7million tonnes, giving the waterways a 5.34% share of hinterland traffic compared with 3.65% in 2002.
