LR Grants AIP for Ammonia FSRU

Mayer Brown Advises on HK FSRU Project

Law firm Mayer Brown advised CLP Power Hong Kong on the Hong Kong offshore LNG terminal project, which involves the use of floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) technology for the first time in Hong Kong. The FSRU will receive, store, and regasify LNG into two separate subsea gas pipelines to supply natural gas to Castle Peak Power Company Limited and Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd., generating power for Hong Kong residents.Mayer Brown advised CLP Power Hong Kong Limited on the FSRU charter and regasification agreements and operation and maintenance services to be provided to the offshore LNG terminal with Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), one of the world's largest shipping operators.

ExxonMobil Signs LNG Tie-up Pact with Uniper

German utility Uniper SE signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe Limited in respect of a long-term booking of a substantial share of regasification capacity in Uniper’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project Wilhelmshaven for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG).According to a press release, the parties will continue their discussions in the coming months with the goal to enter into binding agreements soon.Keith Martin, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper SE, says: “The Heads of Agreement is an important step towards the realization of the Wilhelmshaven FSRU project. The FSRU will provide LNG companies from the US, but also other countries from around the world with the opportunity to deliver LNG into the German and European market.

Uniper, Mitsui OSK Lines Press Ahead German FSRU

German energy group Uniper and Japanese shipping group Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) have agreed to intensify efforts on the Wilhelmshaven FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) project in Germany, which could start up as early as H2 2022.The FSRU has a planned send-out capacity of 10 bcm/a and liquefied natural (LNG) storage capacity of 263,000 m³, said a press release from Uniper, the international energy company with operations in more than 40 countries.The project benefits from the existing site in Wilhelmshaven where required infrastructure is already in place. Wilhelmshaven is the only German deep-water port and can be reached without any tidal constraints.

NextDecade in FSRU Deal with Flex LNG

NextDecade Global Solutions, a subsidiary of NextDecade, LLC, and FLEX LNG have signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) to create a full value chain solution for customers looking to purchase LNG from NextDecade’s Rio Grande LNG export project in Brownsville, TX. Initially, NextDecade and FLEX LNG will develop Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) and dockside solutions for international customers of NextDecade’s, with the LNG supply also provided by NextDecade. The agreement will reunite two pioneers of the floating LNG business, NextDecade Chair and CEO Kathleen Eisbrenner and Jonathan Cook who will become CEO of FLEX LNG early next year.

Opening of Argentina's Second LNG Import Facility

With President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner present to honor the opening of Argentina's second LNG import facility, a joint development between YPF S.A., ENARSA and excelerate Energy, GNL Escobar (GNLE) was officially open for business on June 8, 2011. Located on the Parana River, about 30 miles outside Buenos Aires City, GNLE utilizes Excelerate Energy's GasPort design. As well as providing increased peak capacity for the high-demand winter months, the facility delivers additional natural gas supply and transport capacity to the Buenos Aires region.
