Wison Offshore & Marine (WOM), the upstream oil and gas division of Chinese conglomerate Wison Group Holding, announced the fabrication of Arctic LNG 2 Project (ALNG2 Project) commenced in Zhoushan Yard.The module fabrication contract was awarded by Technip France S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of TechnipFMC.Novatek, client of ALNG2 project, is the largest independent natural gas producer in Russia. Japan Regulator Investigating LNG Shipping Restrictions
Japan's anti-monopoly regulator is investigating whether clauses in liquefied natural gas (LNG) contracts preventing buyers from selling the fuel to third parties hurts competition, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing unidentified sources. The investigation by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) is in the early stages and may be completed by the end of year, the report said. A spokesman for the JFTC would not comment on the issue when contacted by Reuters, including whether any probe is under way.
LOC Appoints Rutler as Group CFO
International marine and engineering consultancy LOC Group has appointed Jerome Rutler to the newly created post of Group Chief Operating Officer, responsible for LOC’s global operations including marine assurance and risk, energy and shipping sectors. Rutler has worked for more than 20 years in the oil and gas, petrochemicals and marine industries for a variety of companies, EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation), consultancy and technical advisory. He also has experience as a company director, with particular expertise in management, operations and strategy. Rutler joins LOC from Bureau Veritas where he has worked for 13 years, most recently as vice president, corporate development for the Marine, Oil and Gas division.
Total Signs Deal to Supply LNG to China's ENN
Total SA has signed an agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to ENN Energy in China, according to a news release on the French energy company's website. The deal is for 0.5 million metric tons of LNG per year for a period of 10 years and will be delivered from the company's facilities. Total didn't specify which projects if would source the product from but it has offtake from Australia's Ichthys project, geographically close to China. The deliveries will be sourced from Total’s global LNG portfolio, and they are expected to begin in 2018 upon completion of ENN’s Zhoushan LNG receiving terminal. “Building partnerships with new LNG buyers, such as ENN in China, allows us to grow our presence in this key LNG market,” said Laurent Vivier, president of Total’s gas division.
The Digital Oilfield Microwave Communication Offshore Brazil
With most offshore wells in Brazil located between 30 and 300 km from the coast, communication with offshore assets has not always been straightforward or reliable. Some operators and service providers still use traditional maritime VSAT services for coverage offshore Brazil, yet the introduction of Microwave radio has led to a much better level of quality and reliability in high-bandwidth voice and data communications. Claudio Paschoa, Maritime Reporter’s correspondent in Brazil had an interesting conversation with Arild Fotland, head of Ceragon’s Oil and Gas Division, about the advantages of Microwave radio communications for offshore operations in Brazil. Fotland joined Ceragon in 1978 and has been stationed all over the world.

Wärtsilä's Propulsion For First CNG Carrier
The world's first ever carrier vessel for compressed natural gas (CNG) is to be powered by an integrated Wärtsilä propulsion system, chosen for its energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The vessel is being built at the Jiangsu Hantong shipyard in China ordered by CIMC ENRIC and designed by CIMC ORIC for end user Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the Indonesian state owned energy company. The order with Wärtsilä was placed during the fourth quarter, 2014. The new vessel will feature a 9-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel main engine operating primarily on gas. Wärtsilä will also supply the controlled pitch propeller and gearbox, all of which will be fully integrated so as to optimise the propulsion efficiency.
Sætre Appointed President & CEO of Statoil
Statoil’s board of directors has appointed Eldar Sætre as the company’s new president and CEO. Sætre, who has 35 years’ experience from Statoil and the oil and gas industry, has been acting as president and CEO since October, and assumes the role with immediate effect. "Eldar Sætre was our first choice. The industry and company are facing demanding challenges. Eldar stands out with his long experience and ability to create change. Those are qualities we need in times like these. I am extra pleased that we were able to recruit the next CEO from within Statoil," said Statoil’s chair of the Board, Svein Rennemo. Statoil’s President & CEO Helge Lund Resigns
Statoil President and CEO Helge Lund has informed the company's board of directors that he will resign. Helge Lund has chosen to leave Statoil to take up the position as CEO of another international oil and gas company. The board of directors has appointed Eldar Sætre as acting president and CEO of Statoil with immediate effect. According to a Reuters report, Statoil's long-serving chief executive will take on the top role at smaller rival BG, where he has been promised a big pay rise if he can turn round the flagging British gas and oil producer.

Siemens Receives Major Order for Russian LNG Project
Siemens will deliver the key components for a power station that is going to supply the future Yamal LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) production plant in Northern Russia with electricity and heat. The Siemens scope of supply comprises the design, manufacture, factory testing, delivery, installation and commissioning of eight SGT-800 industrial gas turbines as well as nine step-up transformers. Four of these turbines will additionally be equipped with waste heat recovery units. The power plant will have an electrical output of 376 megawatts (MWe). The order has been placed by the Russian engineering company Technopromexport (TPE), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rostec State Corporation.
Caterpillar Engines to Power Six Drillships
Caterpillar Global Petroleum to supply diesel generator sets for the drillships to be built in Brazil. The contract has been awarded by Estaleiro Enseada do Paraguaçu (EEP) for six drillships to be built at Estaleiro Enseada do Paraguaçu shipyard in the state of Bahia, Brazil, which has charter contracts with Petrobras for these vessels. Each of the six drillships will be powered by 6 x 16CM32 main diesel generator sets and the emergency power will be provided by 1 x 3516B generator set. Mercator Announces H1 Results
For the half year period ended 30th September, 2011, Mercator Lines Ltd. registered 25% growth in Total Income which stood at Rs.1584 crores (Rs.1268 crores). The Consolidated Net Profit for the period stood at Rs.21.41 crores (Rs.113.22 crores). During the period, the Coal Division contributed 58% revenue while Dry Bulk contributed 22%; Tanker 10%; Dredging 5% and Offshore Division 5%. The coal volumes are expected to further improve in the coming quarters. The recent coal mine acquired in Indonesia would commence commercial operations in the last quarter of FY12. The Oil and Gas Division has successfully commissioned FPU unit in Nigeria and the operations are doing well as per schedule. Exploration activities of two onshore oil blocks in Gujarat are on schedule.

Konsberg Extends Deliveries to OMAN
Spanish engineering contractor, Tecnicas Reunidas (TR), has placed an order for a Dynamic Simulation Study of critical depletion compressors with Kongsberg Maritime's Oil & Gas division Process Simulation & Optimization Business Unit. The USD600M Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract was awarded to TR-Oman by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in 2006 with completion anticipated for Q2 2009. The scope of supply includes a series of compressors designed to increase output of gas and to ensure a more stable flow. Kongsberg Maritime, using its proprietary dynamic simulation tool ASSETT, will model a section of the plant.
Rolls-Royce Acquires VT Controls
Rolls-Royce has acquired marine electrical systems company VT Controls Ltd for £11 million, continuing its growth strategy in the marine market. VT Controls Ltd, acquired from the VT Group, will be incorporated into the Rolls-Royce Marine Electrical Systems business set up earlier this year. The acquisition is an important addition to the new business's capability, as it ramps up to support marine projects involving major electrical systems. Based in Portsmouth, VT Controls Ltd has provided power or automation systems on all front line UK naval platforms in the last decade and is involved in current naval programmes both in the UK and abroad. The company has an impressive pedigree that stretches as far back as the early 1970s when it supplied controls for Brazil's Mk 10 frigates.
