First of 10 Newbuilds Delivered for FureBear JV

The first vessel in a series of 10 newbuilds has been delivered to FureBear, a 50/50 joint venture between Sweden's Furetank and Canada's Algoma Central Corporation.Fure Vanguard is a dual-fuel ice class 1A 17,999 DWT product tanker built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China.The FureBear JV was formed in 2022 with an initial order for four ships. Later that year, the partners placed an order for four additional vessels, and in 2023 they ordered two more ships.

Furetank Orders Two More Vessels

Furetank adds another two Vinga vessels to the order line. Upon delivery, Furetank’s fleet will consist entirely of environmentally proven, top standard vessels with an average age of two years, the company said."We did our homework. Furetank and Algoma JV Orders Two More Vessels

Furetank and Algoma Central Corporation announced further expansion of their FureBear joint venture with orders for two additional vessels. The two ships will be constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China, with delivery expected in second and third quarters of 2026.The new order for Vinga series vessels grows the FureBear joint venture to a total of 10 intermediate product tankers under construction, with the first vessel slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2024.

FureBear Acquires Tanker with Larsson Shipping

FureBear, a joint venture between Swedish shipping company Furetank and Canadian shipping company Algoma, together with U.K.-based Larsson Shipping, has taken over the ownership of Algoma’s product tanker Algonorth.The 2008-built, 6,958 dwt double hull product oil tanker has arrived from Canada to trade in Northern Europe under the new name Fure Skagen.Owned by FureBear and Larsson Shipping and flying the Faroe Island flag, Fure Skagen will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance.Furetank and Algoma formed the FureBear joint venture in 2022…

Furetank and Algoma Order Four More Ships for FureBear JV

Swedish Furetank and Canadian Algoma Central Corporation expand the FureBear joint venture to include eight climate-friendly, dual-fuel product tankers to trade in Northern Europe.The 50/50 owned joint venture was announced in August and is now extended with four additional 17,999 DWT tankers, bringing the total investment to eight vessels.Like the initial four vessel order, the additional four ships will be constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China. Algoma and Furetank Establish Product Tanker Joint Venture

Canadian shipping company Algoma Central Corporation announced it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Furetank AB of Sweden to construct four dual-fuel ice class 1A 17,999 DWT climate friendly product tankers to trade in Northern Europe. The 50/50 joint venture will be named FureBear.The tankers will be constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China, with delivery expected between 2023 and 2025. Upon completion, all four vessels will be entered into the Gothia Tanker Alliance, and will be operated by Furetank out of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Thun Tankers Adds New Tanker to Gothia

Swedish shipping company Thun Tankers has taken delivery of the third of five L-class product tankers from China’s Avic Dingheng. Just like her sister ships, Thun Lidkoping and Thun London, the new vessel Thun Liverpool will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.Thun Tankers took delivery of the 18,650-dead-weight product tanker on Wednesday (November 13).The L-class series have been designed and developed in-house, using the Erik Thun group’s long experience of building sustainable, high quality vessels.Focus on environmental care, new regulations and customers’ needs has been key in the design and building process of this vessel type.The new tanker will enter into the Gothia Tanker Alliance network with crewing and technical management done by MF Shipping Group.

Ramelia Begins Maiden Voyage

The LNG tanker Ramelia has been delivered to the chemical tankers in Northern Europe Rederi AB Älvtank, becoming the sixth of eight vessels ordered in the Gothia Tanker Alliance series.The vessels are built on a design where FKAB Marine design, in great cooperation with the owners Furetank, Älvtank and Thun Tankers and together with Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Co. GTA Names Sixth LNG-Fueled Tanker

Thun Tankers Takes Delivery of Two Vessels

The Swedish tanker operator Thun Tankers takes delivery of first L-Class and second E-Class on the same day. Both vessels will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.On May 9th, Thun Tankers took delivery of the 18,650 deadweight product tanker “Thun Lidkoping”. This L-Class vessel is the first in a series of five resource efficient, high quality tankers built by Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd in China.On the same day, the 8,000 deadweight “Thun Evolve” was delivered to Thun Tankers by Ferus Smit BV in the Netherlands. The dual fuelled vessel, that will use natural gas or biogas as fuel, is the second in a series of four ordered E-Class tankers.

Nauticor Supplies LNG via STS

On April 15th, 2019, a large bunker supply vessel (BSV) for liquefied natural gas (LNG) “Kairos” provided LNG in a ship-to-ship bunker operation to a product tanker. “Fure Valö”, a vessel of the tanker pool managed by the Gothia Tanker Alliance, received LNG at the anchorage area of Sandhamn, near the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Gothia Tanker Alliance Delivers Fure Valö

Europe's leading network for smaller and intermediate size tankers Gothia Tanker Alliance announced the delivery of the fourth vessel LNG-fueled vessel  Fure Valö.The vessel was named on the 17th of November and delivered to owners Furetank on November 27, the company tweeted. Fure Valö has been delivered at the Chinese Avic Dingheng shipyard.Fure Valö is vessel number four in a the serie of six climate smart, high quality new buildings that will join the Gothia Tanker Alliance.It is a part of the six-vessel series ordered by the Gothia Tanker Alliance members Furetank, Älvtank and Erik Thun, Gothia Tanker Alliance said.Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Thun Tankers BV are building six intermediate size tankers at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd.

Skangas Inks LNG Bunker Deal with Gothia Tanker Alliance

Skangas entered into an agreement with parts of the Gothia Tanker Alliance to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.The new agreement comprises current as well as new vessels with LNG propulsion soon to come, said a press release from the supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Nordic markets.The main Swedish shipping companies that will get the advantage of the supply agreement with Skangas are Furetank Rederi AB, Erik Thun AB and Rederi AB Älvtank. These shipping companies have invested in total six new LNG fueled vessels and together with the existing Fure West they are all jointly operated by the Gothia Tanker Alliance.The Swedish Shipowners’ Association is actively contributing to reduce any negative environmental impact of the shipping industry.

Furetank Fleet Adds LNG-fuelled Fure Vinga

Swedish shipping company Furetank Rederi AB, a part of the Gothia Tanker Alliance, has taken delivery of its latest vessel, Fure Vinga, the first in a series of six 17.999 DWT product tankers with LNG operation. "We welcome Fure Vinga to our alliance! We wish the ship and her crew fair winds and good fortune!," said Gothia Tanker Alliance in a Twitter message. The vessel has been transferred to Furetank following successful sea trials and started its trip from the shipyard of Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding in China, sailing to Europe. Featuring a length of 149.9 meters and a beam of 22.8 meters, the newbuilding was delivered by China’s shipbuilder Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding. The tanker will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance.

Thun Tankers Orders another Newbuild

Furetank and Älvtank Extend LNG Tanker Order

Furetank and Älvtank extend the order with two more of next generation Intermediate Product/Chemical Tankers with LNG propulsion. Furetank Rederi AB and Rederi AB Älvtank have added the previous order with two more newbuildings. Last year a contract signed by the constellation Furetank, Älvtank and Thun Tankers to let build four chemical/product tanker in the intermediate segment of the Chinese shipyard Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding. The vessels will be built with special focus on minimal impact on the environment, with close to 50 percent reduction of CO2 emissions.

Wartsila Wins Deal for Four LNG Tankers

Wärtsilä has been awarded a contract covering four newbuild tanker vessels. The ships are to be built at the Avic Dingheng shipyard in China, on behalf of three Swedish owners; Furetank (two vessels), Älvtank, and Thun Tankers, a fully owned subsidiary of Thunbolagen. The vessels will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance. The contracts were signed in the second quarter of 2016. Swedish cargo transporter Gothia Tanker Alliance has ordered four newbuilding intermediate product/chemical tankers with LNG propulsion. The vessels will be built to a design, developed by FKAB and Furetank, with close to 50 % reduction of CO2 emissions.
