exactEarth Ltd. has been selected by the Fisheries Commission (West Africa Regional Fisheries Programme), an agency of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD) of the Government of Ghana, for the provision of Satellite AIS data services as well as a small vessel tracking solution. The contract value is in a range of $1.0-$2.0 million for a 12 month period and will enable Ghana to acquire the technology necessary to monitor its expansive coastlines and deter illegal fishing in its national waters. Along with a comprehensive Satellite AIS data feed, exactEarth will provide MOFAD with 450 Class B AIS transceivers to be installed on inshore fishing vessels which will be tracked via satellite utilising exactEarth’s exactTrax small vessel tracking technology.

The Maersk Group has reaffirmed its commitment to support the expansion of Ghana’s Port of Tema to the tune of US$1.5 billion. The Group Chief Executive Officer of the multinational transport and energy giant Maersk Group, Nils Smedegaard Andersen, has re-assured of the company’s readiness to inject US$1.5billion to boost the ongoing expansion works at the Tema Port. The Maersk Group’s subsidiary, APM Terminals, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Ghana in November last year to expand the Tema Port. Andersen said funding arrangements for the project have been secured pending the signing of a concession agreement between Maersk’s key partner Meridian Ports Services (MPS) and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

Port operator APM Terminals, a unit of shipping and oil conglomerate A.P. Moller-Maersk , said on Thursday it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Ghana to expand its Tema Port. APM Terminals said the agreement included a "private investment" in excess of $1 billion by Meridian Port Services of which APM Terminals controls 35 percent. "Both in the short- and long-term view we see Ghana as a country with great potential," Peder Søndergaard head of Africa and Middle East activities in APM Terminals told Reuters. Meridian Port Services (MPS) is a joint venture between APM Terminals, Bolloré Africa Logistics and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority.

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) has been awarded an engineering services contract to support Tullow Ghana Limited and its partners through the execution phase of the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project, offshore Ghana. WGK will provide subsea, umbilical, risers, flowlines (SURF) engineering services. The Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme oil fields are situated in the Deepwater Tano area, offshore Ghana, approximately 30 kilometres from the existing Jubilee field. The Government of Ghana has signed the Sales and Purchase Agreement, which would finally transfer to Ghana the entire 60 per cent shares of PSC Tema Shipyard, which has been held for over 13 years by Penang Shipbuilding. The Minister for Transport, Alhaji Collins Dauda, together with the transitional team, signed the agreement during a brief ceremony at the premise of the shipyard in Tema to ensure the total ownership of the yard by Ghana. Giving the rationale behind the building and divestiture of the yard some 13 years ago, the minister said the Tema Shipyard and Dry-Dock Corporation was built during the construction of the Tema Harbour as part of the overall infrastructure requirement for the country’s maritime industry and socio-economic development.

Kosmos Energy KOS 0.00% today provided an update on the company's drilling of the Cedrela-1 exploration well offshore the Republic of Ghana. The "Transocean Marianas" semi-submersible drilling rig, under contract to another operator in Ghana, was expected to arrive at the Cedrela-1 well location on the West Cape Three Points Block on or about July 10 to commence drilling Kosmos' Cedrela-1 well near the block's southern boundary. The rig was rendered temporarily inoperable following a reported anchor-handling incident on the Offshore Cape Three Points Block, which is east of the Kosmos-operated West Cape Three Points Block. The incident occurred while preparations were being made to move the rig from the other operator's block to the Cedrela-1 well location.
