Netherlands Shipyard to Build Ship for China

IHC Merwede says it has been successful in securing orders worth € 350 million for a wide range of dredging and offshore vessels and equipment, including a large trailing suction dredger for a Chinese customer. The company's Dredging division has confirmed new contracts for the delivery of a large custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger, with units that will be supplied by IHC Beaver Dredgers as well as a cutter suction dredger training simulator. IHC Merwede Wins Dredging and Offshore Orders

IHC Merwede has secured orders worth €350 million for a wide range of dredging and offshore vessels and equipment. The company’s Dredging division has confirmed new contracts for the delivery of a large custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger, 13 units that will be supplied by IHC Beaver Dredgers and a cutter suction dredger training simulator. The Offshore division has also announced orders for the construction of a 300-metric-ton pipelaying vessel, as well as a J-Lay pipelaying system and a tandem mooring system.

IHC Merwede Secures New Orders

IHC Merwede announced that it has recently secured orders to the value of €125 million for a wide range of new cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) and related equipment. The latest sales agreements confirmed by the company include a new custom-built CSD and a further 12 units that will be supplied by IHC Beaver Dredgers. The contract for the custom-built CSD has been entrusted to IHC Merwede by Huta Marine Works for the design, engineering and construction of an innovative self-propelled vessel.

IHC Merwede Sells First IHC Beaver 65 DDSP

Following the launch of the IHC Beaver 65 DDSP in February, the first vessel has been sold to Advanced Construction Company, a member of the Al Geithy Group, based in Saudi Arabia. Testing was successful completed at IHC Merwede’s shipyard in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands, in early March and delivery to Jeddah will be organized in the second quarter of this year. After delivery the dredger will begin work in the Red Sea. The new vessel succeeds the highly successful IHC Beaver 6518 and belongs to the renowned IHC Beaver  series of standard cutter suction dredgers.

Dredger Builder Delivers Workboats Too

IHC Beaver Dredgers, known for standard cutter suction vessels, continues to deliver workboats to complement its dredgers. For example, the company has supplied another Delta Multi Craft (DMC) 1050 to support an IHC Beaver® 1200 for its operations in Nigeria. The workboat was supplied from stock to ensure a minimum lead time and it has now formed the perfect working partnership with the dredger. The versatile DMC 1050 will assist the dredger in its daily operations. These include pushing/pulling, buoy handling, and the ferrying of personnel and goods, such as fuel, oil and water.

IHC Merwede Rents Out First IHC Beaver Dredger

IHC Merwede has entered the international rental market with its standard IHC Beaver dredgers and DMC work boats. The company has identified a demand in the market for vessels and equipment that may only be used for a relatively short period of time. In August, the first dredger – an IHC Beaver® 40 – was rented out to a contractor in Europe. The dredger was easily loaded on to trucks and transported to the dredging site, where it was quickly deployed by a team of IHC Merwede engineers. This vessel will be used for the deepening of a river in order to increase its capacity.

$43 Million Contract Awarded Of New Backhoe Dredge

PANAMA CITY, Panama, April 27, 2011 - The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has awarded a $43 million contract to Dutch company IHC Engineering Business Ltd., a part of IHC Merwede Group, for the design and construction of a new backhoe dredge. The addition of this new dredge to the ACP’s existing fleet in December 2012 will increase the ACP’s ability to effectively dredge as part of the Expansion Program and future maintenance projects. IHC Engineering Business Ltd. will be responsible for the design, construction, tests and delivery of the hydraulic backhoe dredge.

Moving forward with its equipment upgrades for the Expansion Program, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) officially awarded the contract to design and build a new, more powerful cutter suction dredge to IHC Beaver Dredgers B.V. on March 14, 2008. The new 12,000KW dredge will replace "Mindi," which has been in service at the Canal since 1942 and has only a 9,000KW capacity. With an expected delivery date of May 2011, the new dredge will have the modern equipment, systems and components required for efficient operation.
