Adani Buys 75% Stake in Krishnapatnam Port

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest private sector port operator, has agreed to buy a 75% stake in Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd (KPCL) at an enterprise value of INR 13,572 crore (US $1.9 billion). KPCL is located in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh, the state with the second largest coastline of in India, and is a multi-cargo facility which handled 54 MMT in FY19.This acquisition will accelerate APSEZ’s stride towards 400 MMT by 2025.Acquisition value of KPCL is approximately Rs.13,500 cr. The purchase consideration will be funded through internal accruals and existing cash balance.The credit metrics of APSEZ consolidated are not expected to change with this transaction. The net debt to EBIDTA of consolidated APSEZ Ltd.

Foundation of New Krishnapatnam Port Terminal Laid

Santosh Gangwar - Minister of State for Finance, GoI laid the foundation stone of a project intended to offer convenience to transporters CHAs and FFs of the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India – Krishnapatnam Port. Krishnapatnam Port, Maersk Launches Mainline Service for China

Krishnapatnam, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has marked another milestone towards operational excellence as it launched its weekly mainline service from China to Krishnapatnam Port. The service to be operated by Maersk line in partnership with Hanjin Shipping of Korea will provide the fastest and most competitive service to the exporters and importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of China, Far East Asia and South East Asia. The current transit time for bulk cargo like furniture, office and hotel interiors which take 40-45 days to reach the consignee will be straight halved with the launch of the new service through Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal.

Paradip Port Cargo Volume Looks Up

Among five major ports on the east coast Paradip Port topped the list with 28.65 million tonnes of cargo for the first four months, followed by Chennai Port 17.42 million tonnes, V.O.C Port 13.07 million tonnes, Krishnapatnam Port 11.57 million tonnes and Kamarajar Port close to 9 million tonnes. The five ports have collectively handled about 80 million tonnes of cargo during the first four months of the current fiscal year, fuelled by imports of coal and petroleum, oil and lubricant (POL) products. Paradip Port handled a record throughput of 8.06 MMT in a single month - July,2016 - surpassing the earlier highest record handling of 7.61 MMT cargo in the month of March, 2016.

Krishnapatnam Port Inaugurates Maersk Salalah Service

Krishnapatnam Port inaugurated yesterday the maiden call of “M V Maersk Bentonville” as part of the direct weekly service from Krishpatnam to Salalah (Oman). The first voyage of Maersk Bentonville discharged 551 TEU’s and loaded 770 TEU’s of exports. The weekly service is expected to provide fastest and most competitive service to the exporters and importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of US East Coast, Mediterranean, Europe and Africa. Maersk to Link Salalah to Krishnapatnam Port

Maersk Line India a unit of Danish conglomerate A P Moller Maersk Group, has launched a new service from Salalah, Oman to the Krishnapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh. The weekly service to be started from April 17 will connect customers in the areas of AP, Northern Tamil Nadu and Eastern Karnataka directly to Oman and nearby region. Krishnapatnam Port is a privately built and owned all weather, deep water port on the east coast of India, located in the Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. Maersk Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th

Maersk starts its Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th and Kattupalli on April 19th, 2016. Both these calls are strategic and are aimed at supporting the growth of local businesses in the hinterland covering Andhra Pradesh, Northern Tamil Nadu and Eastern Karnataka. Containership Sets Sail on India-Bangladesh Trade

Krishnapatnam Port, an all-weather; deepwater port on India’s east-coast, earmarked a historic moment for India’s bilateral trade and commerce as the first direct container vessel, part of coastal shipping agreement to facilitate trade between India and Bangladesh, set sail from the port on March 28, 2016. The trade agreements which were signed during the reign of the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1974 were revived back after a period of four decades during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka last year.

Hanjin's First Service Call at Krishnapatnam Port

Hanjin Shipping India Pvt Ltd, the South Korean shipping conglomerate, made its maiden call at KPCT on 1st February, 2016. Vessel MV Hanjin Florida had exchanged 553 TEU out of which 109 TEU are imports and 444 TEU are exports. Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal, whose volume during Apr’15 - Jan’16 has already surpassed FY 2014-15 container volume, offers immense opportunities for new service calls to tap its huge hinterland. Krishnapatnam Port now Fully Operational

The Hyderabad-based CVR group led Krishnapatnam Port Company addressed as the ‘cape hub’ of India becomes home for Capes once again as it resumes normal operations on 20th January 2016 within a record span of 50 days after its operations were adversely affected due to siltation. The port suffered severe rainfall and floods, during November ‘2015 which caused siltation and adversely affected the operations. However, the port which is equipped with its in-house dredgers with the help of its trained and dedicated staff, achieved the draft of 18 meters in a record span of 50 days which demonstrates its infrastructural prowess and commitment to work in the best interest of its customers thereby assuring a continued and seamless business experience.

Petrogas to Establish LNG terminal in Andhra

Petrogas Private Limited, a joint venture company between Isomeric Holdings Bhd from Malaysia and LEPL Ventures Pvt Ltd (LEPL) from Vijayawada, has signed a facilitation MoU with Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd (KPCL) and Andhra Pradesh government for setting up a regasification and floating storage Terminal at Krishnapatnam Port. Krishnapatnam Port Led Consortium to set Up LNG Terminal

Krishnapatnam Port Company inks agreement with Government of Andhra Pradesh and Petrogas Pvt. Ltd. LNG Bharat to Roll Out FLNG Terminal

LNG Bharat Private Ltd is setting up a floating LNG Floating Storage Unit (FSU) with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum at Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district the Hindu Businessline reports quoting J. Murthy, the Managing Director. The company had taken 120 acres of land from the port and leased a berth for setting up the terminal and a pipeline would also be laid from Krishnapatnam to Ennore in Tamil Nadu, via Sullurupeta and Sri City. The total project cost, including the terminal and the pipeline, would be Rs. 1400 crores, he said. If the construction commences in May 2016 (as planned), the terminal is expected to be commissioned by December 2017.

ACS Calls Krishnapatnam Port

HYUNDAI MERCHANT MARINE (HMM), the Korean conglomerate operating its ASIA CHENNAI SERVICE (ACS) made an ad hoc call at Krishnapatnam Port on November 26, 2015. ACS service which was launched in 2007 is a direct service ex Chennai to Port Kelang, Singapore, Shanghai, Busan, Ulsan, Hong Kong and Yantian. MV Hyundai Vladivostok Voyage 602E after sailing from Chennai on its east bound route called Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) on the 26th and sailed the same day carrying 498 export laden containers. This direct service to South East Asia and China will open up more destinations on East Bound Traffic for EXIM players in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana hinterland apart from Karnataka Western Region.

Railway Links Krishnapatnam Port to WFD

A new efficient train service commenced its first journey from Krishnapatnam Port to ICD WFD on 19th June 2015, thereby marking a new milestone on the service offerings by the port. The first rake was a full load of import laden containers belonging to the business houses in and around Bengaluru city. This weekly rail service in association with CONCOR provides the fastest transit from ICD WFD to the closest gateway port and given an impetus to the importers & exporters around Bengaluru, Hosur, Chittoor, etc. The train service has a maximum carrying capacity of 90 TEUeach way and reduces the transportation time from 24-36 hours taken by road to just 18 hours. In addition, it also helps customers to save between US$100 – US$150 on each container.

KPCT Launches New Gulf Service

Containerized volumes are steadily increasing on the East Coast of India. Keeping pace with the growth, Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd. (KPCT) now offers a new service to the Gulf sector. Simatechin association with Evergreen Line recently launched a joint CCG Service.The first sailing of this weekly service commenced at KPCT by the maiden call of M.V. Taroko on May 21, 2015. This 28 day service will utilize four container ships of around 2,000 TEU each; three operated by Simatech and one by Evergreen Line.The service provides direct connectivity from Krishnapatnam Port (India) to Colombo (Sri Lanka), Cochin (India), Jebel Ali (UAE) andSohar (Oman) ports.

Kamarajar Port Posts 10.7% Growth, Plans Free Trade Warehousing Zone

Throughput at Ennore-based Kamarajar Port Ltd increased 10.6 per cent in 2014-15 to 30.25 million tonne as against 27.34 mt registered during the previous year. The port has posted a 5 percent growth in pre-tax profit to Rs 421.47 ($70 million). Operating income was up 12.3 per cent to Rs 563.64 crore for the period as compared with Rs 501.93 crore. The major share of the throughput was imports of coal by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). The port located at Ennore to the north of Chennai now primarily handles coal import and car export. "We have posted over 12 per cent increase in operating income and over 5 per cent in profit. We were not expecting a major jump, since there were no more new terminals coming into operation.

Berthing Delays for Heavy Lift Vessels at Indian Ports

Heavy Lift vessels visiting Indian ports are in for berthing delays at various ports. * In Mumbai Port, berthing delays of approx 10 days for vessel opting for BPS & BPX berths and for Harbour wall berth it is 8 days. For priority vessel it is approx 4 to 5 days. No delays inside Indira docks. * Waiting time in Nhava Sheva shallow water berth is  NIL to 1 day and depends further on the performance of ships at berth and cement vessel calling in near future. * Kandla port - berthing delays in normal import  is 8 to 9 days & normal export group is approx 2 to 3 days, and in 24 hrs group it is expected to be between 24 hrs to 36 hrs. * Mundra port is presently free from congestion. * Adani Hazira port - situation is normal. * Waiting period at Adani Dahej port is approx min 8 to 10 days.

Heavy Lift & Project vessels calling at Indian ports are experiencing congestion, which according to the trade is an artifically created situation. They point out that unlike other vessels, Heavy Lift vessels turnaround time may extends to two to three days or even more.
