Total Makes Major Offshore UK Gas Discovery

French oil and energy group Total said on Monday it had made a major gas discovery on the Glendronach prospect, located off the coast of the Shetland islands in the North Sea.Total said preliminary tests on the new gas discovery confirmed good reservoir quality, permeability and well production deliverability, with recoverable resources estimated at about one trillion cubic feet (1 tcf).It said Glendronach, located near its Edradour field, will be tied back to the existing infrastructure…

Total Pact with Stena Drilling for Laggan Well

Aberdeen-based Stena Drilling has announced that it has signed a deal with French oil giant Total to drill one well at the west of Shetland, Laggan field.A press release from Stena Drilling said: "We have signed a contract with Total E&P UK Ltd. for the Stena Don in 2019 to drill one well on the Laggan field located west of the Shetland Islands in water depths of up to 650m."The Stena Don is currently working for Total E&P UK on an Exploration well which is also located west of the Shetland Islands. The duration of the contract is around 90 days with potential options and will commence as early as mid-March 2019. Stena Drilling is extremely pleased to continue its successful relationship with Total E&P UK Ltd on this campaign.

Total Puts Prime North Sea Field on the Block

French oil major Total is selling its stake in the North Sea Laggan-Tormore oil and gas field as it seeks to shed assets after a steep fall in the oil price, banking sources said. Total is hoping to get up to $1.5 billion for its 80 percent operating stake in the field, located approximately 125 km north-west of the Shetland Islands in Britain's North Sea, the sources said. The company aims to complete the deal in June, according to the banking sources. Many oil companies are trying to sell assets in the ageing and high-cost North Sea oil province. However, the Laggan-Tormore is considered a high-quality asset as it is planned to start production at the end of this year.

EPC Offshore Signs Deal with Total on Edradour

Aberdeen-based project management and development engineering specialist EPC Offshore has signed an agreement with Total E&P UK Ltd. (TEP UK) to provide support services at its natural gas and condensate discovery in the Atlantic. Edradour, located in Block 206/4 of the U.K. Continental Shelf, is expected to start pumping in 2016, will be linked to the $3.3 billion Laggan/Tormore development west of the Shetland Islands. EPC Offshore will provide project management services for the development as part of a six month contract worth in excess of £260,000.

Aker Solutions Secures Contract with Total E&P UK Ltd

Aker Solutions has secured a three year contract to provide operations and maintenance services to Total E&P UK Ltd and its joint venture partner DONG E&P (UK) Ltd at the new Shetland Gas Plant (SGP). The agreement includes provision of operations, maintenance and services support personnel for Total E&P UK at the new gas plant, which will receive gas from the Laggan and Tormore fields, west of Shetland. The contract is valid for three and a half years with an optional two year extension. It will see the creation of up to 150 positions in support of the contract, both on-site at SGP and onshore in Aberdeen. Contract value is undisclosed. Aker Solutions has worked with Total E&P UK since 1989 continually developing the joint relationship and overall service provision.

Ecosse Subsea Completes Total E&P Project

Ecosse Subsea Systems has completed a major seabed clearance project on the Laggan-Tormore project west of Shetland on behalf of Total E&P Ltd and its partner Dong E&P (UK) Ltd. The Aberdeen subsea technology company deployed its SCAR1 trenching tool to remove up to 1000 boulders which were delaying progress on cable laying and umbilical installation work. The SCAR1 cut a 10 metre wide swathe over a 67km route, displacing boulders up to two metres in diameter and removing soil to leave a flat seabed for pipe laying to commence.

Jumbo Offshore to Install Protection Structures

In June 2011, Jumbo’s DP2 Offshore Heavy Lift Vessel Fairplayer will install 4 subsea protection structures for production flowlines at 600 m water depth in the Laggan & Tormore fields. These gas condensate fields, owned by Total and Dong Energy, are located 125 km north-west of the Shetland Islands. This region contains approx. 17% of the remaining UK oil and gas reserves. The subcontract, commissioned by client Allseas, will combine transport and installation, Jumbo Offshore’s hallmark.

Subsea 7 Wins $60m Contract

Subsea 7 won an exclusive five year contract by Total E&P UK Ltd (TEP UK) for Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) works in the Northern and Central sectors of the North Sea. The contract is valued at approximately $60 million. Subsea 7 is to provide a complete range of IRM services to TEP UK, which includes onshore support comprising project management, engineering and general support for underwater operations through to post-job reporting. Offshore services will include diving, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and associated support activities. The work, to commence immediately, covers the Alwyn, Dunbar, Otter, Forvie, Nuggets, Frigg, Ellon, Grant, Jura and Elgin / Franklin fields with the potential to extend to Laggan, West of Shetland.
