Wärtsilä to Supply Methanol-fueled Engines for Van Oord's Offshore Wind Installation Vessel

Five Wärtsilä 32 engines capable of operating with methanol will power a new Offshore Wind Installation Vessel (WIV) being built for Dutch contracting company Van Oord at Yantai CIMC Raffles shipyard in China, in what is the first such order for the Finland-based marine engine and equipment maker.Dutch marine and offshore services company Van Oord in October 2021 ordered the jack-up for offshore wind turbine installation. The vessel will be able to install next-generation wind turbines of up to 20MW.

Europort Brings Offshore Shipbuilding into Focus

Keppel’s Secure Contracts Worth S$160 Million

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd's (Keppel O&M) subsidiaries, Keppel Subic Shipyard, Inc. (Keppel Subic Shipyard) in the Philippines and Keppel Verolme BV (Keppel Verolme) in the Netherlands, have secured contracts totalling S$160 million. Keppel Subic Shipyard has been awarded a contract from Shell Philippines Exploration BV (SPEX) to build a Depletion Compression Platform (DCP) to support the recovery of natural gas from the Malampaya gas field near Palawan Island, in the Philippines. When completed, the DCP will be deployed next to an existing shallow water production platform. The DCP is designed to maintain the current availability and deliverability of natural gas from the Malampaya field through regulating the gas export pressure and flow rates.

Linssen Yachts Signs Agreement with Raymarine

One of the Netherlands' oldest and most respected yacht builders, Linssen Yachts, has confirmed an exclusive supply agreement with marine electronics manufacturer Raymarine. The two companies have worked together for a number of years. With the formation of the new Raymarine Nederland subsidiary, Linssen yachts has chosen to sign an exclusive supply agreement stating that it provides additional benefits for both the company and its customers. Linssen Yacht customers are able to personally select from Raymarine’s complete range of marine electronics, from multifunction displays to thermal imaging cameras, autopilots to man overboard safety systems. Yacht owners can now benefit from the new 3-year onboard warranty when the product is registered under Raymarine’s extended warranty scheme.

Keppel German Offshore Wind Newbuild

Keppel Verolme BV (Keppel Verolme) and consortium partner AREVA Energietechnik GmbH, a German subsidiary of French energy company AREVA, have secured an $82.5m contract from Wetfeet Offshore Windenergy GmbH (Wetfeet Offshore) to build a Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB) for a new offshore wind farm in the German Exclusive Economic Zone in the North Sea. This self-erecting floating platform will be deployed at the Global Tech I Wind Farm that is being built and operated by Wetfeet Offshore.

Keppel – 4 Contracts Worth $222.5m

Keppel Offshore & Marine has secured $222.5m dollars worth of contracts through its subsidiaries for the conversion of a floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO), the construction of an internal turret, the refurbishment and outfitting of a semi-submersible multi-service vessel as well as the fabrication, installation and integration of topside process modules for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO). The first contract is for the conversion of a FSO by Keppel Shipyard for M3nergy JDA Sdn Bhd.

Halmatic Celebrates 50 Years

A meeting on the Isle of Wight between Halmatic’s founder Patrick de Laszlo and famous boat designer Uffa Fox led to the manufacture in 1952 of Europe’s first fibreglass boat – a Flying Twenty moulded in a combination of Crystic 189 polyester resin with matted glass fibres which de Laszlo named Deborine after his wife Deborah. This small start developed into a large-scale business as Halmatic were commissioned to mould large numbers of craft by Camper & Nicholson’s, Moody’s and other leading builders of that era. As well as moulding for others Halmatic introduced its own range of commercial and military craft which were supplied either as “ part-assemblies “ for other yards to complete or were fitted-out by Halmatic for its own customers. This tradition continues.

Keppel Verolme Wins $26M Conversion Contract

Keppel Verolme BV, a member of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. of Singapore has secured an agreement with Solitaire Marine Contractors S.A., a subsidiary of Allseas Group S.A. of Switzerland, for the $26 million conversion of the pipelay vessel (PLV), Solitaire. This contract entrenches Keppel Verolme’s position as the provider of choice for the North Sea and West African markets. Said Mr Tong Chong Heong, Managing Director/COO of Keppel Offshore & Marine, "The North Sea holds Europe's largest oil and natural gas reserves and is one of the world's key non-OPEC producing regions. "This contract for the conversion of Solitaire is testament to Keppel Verolme's position as one of the leading yards for the conversion and upgrade of offshore vessels in the North Sea.
