Wilmington Wharf Fire: Port of LA Update

With the wharf fire in Wilmington now more than 90 percent contained, terminals at the Port of Los Angeles plan to resume full operations Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. informs the Port. Only the Pasha terminal at Berth 177, the location of the fire, will remain closed. Moore Begins as Port of L.A. Interim Director

Gary Lee Moore, who has served as Los Angeles City Engineer and General Manager of the city’s Bureau of Engineering for the past decade, has started his duties as interim executive director of the Port of Los Angeles. “Gary is a trusted public servant, with a 28-year track record with the City,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who appointed Moore to the position last month. “The port is a critical economic engine for the city and region,” said Moore. Moose Boats Deliver LAPD Police Boat

San Francisco Bay area-based Moose Boats recently delivered a new M1-46 Catamaran Dive Boat to Los Angeles Police Department. At 46 feet in length, the M1-46 is the largest vessel of the Moose Boats fleet to date. The M1-46 all aluminum catamaran, with a maximum speed of 38 knots, is powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton 322 water-jets and Hamilton Blue Arrow Controls. Moose Boats Awarded Contract For LAPD

Moose Boats, has been awarded a new contract from Los Angeles Police Department for the construction of a M1-46 Catamaran Dive Boat. The M1-46 all aluminum catamaran will be powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton 322 water-jets and Hamilton Blue Arrow Controls. The boat features a fully enclosed cabin complete with three shock mitigating seats, galley, dinette, head, shower and a workstation for ROV piloting, surface-supply air monitoring and Diver Recall System operation.

Moose Boats Delivers M3-34 Dive/Patrol Boat to LAPD

Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, delivered a M3-34 Mono-hull to the Los Angeles Police Department in San Pedro, CA in February 2012. The M3 all aluminum mono-hull is a new hull platform for Moose Boats and is powered by twin 300hp Yamaha outboard engines. The boat features a fully enclosed cabin with two shock-mitigating seats, bench seating for four additional personnel and a standing height head enclosure. The cockpit and foredeck are outfitted with weapons foundations and ammunition storage compartments.

USCG Hosts Intermodal Container Strike Force

The U.S. Multi-Agency Strike Force Operation (MASFO) for the purpose of inspecting the transportation of intermodal containers to ensure compliance with various federal, state, and local regulations. “The Coast Guard is primarily checking containers for proper blocking and bracing of hazardous materials,” said Coast Guard Ensign Tony Migliorini, Director of Compliance and Security. Local police departments check drivers for proper driving credentials, search for contraband, and inspect trucks for safety regulations.
