Maersk Line Deploys First Second-gen Triple-E

Four years after the arrival of the first Triple-E vessel, Maersk Line has now deployed Madrid Maersk, the first of its second-generation Triple-E containerships. With nearly 2,000 more TEU capacity than the prior generation Triple Es, the 20,568 TEU (nominal capacity) Madrid Maersk has set sail on Maersk Line’s Asia – Europe service network, calling the Port of Tianjin in China on April 27 as its first port on its maiden voyage. Madrid Maersk is the first to enter service of the 27 new vessels ordered by Maersk Line in 2015.

Maersk Reroutes Asia - US Service Via Panama

Maersk Line will transform its TP12 service in to a standalone, around-the-world service that provides significantly faster transit times between Far East Asia and the US East Coast. From the Far East to the US East Coast the TP12 service will transit the new Panama Canal locks and call the ports of Newark, Norfolk and Baltimore on the US East Coast. On the return leg to Asia, the TP12 will go through the Suez Canal and call the ports of Salalah (Oman), Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Singapore. This change will significantly improve Maersk Line’s product offering to shippers on the Far East Asia and the US East Coast trade. “We are changing our TP12 service to provide a better product to shippers in Korea, Northern and Eastern China.

Latin America Ports to Berth Larger Vessels

Maersk Sees Rise in Asia Trade Volume

The world's biggest container shipping line Maersk Line  by capacity estimates  up to a 15% increase in container volumes from Asia to the rest of the world in early 2016, which could indicate that industry demand is on the rise, despite recent issues with weak demand and swelling overcapacity, according to The Wall Street Journal. Maersk Welcomes Suez Canal Expansion

As the largest customer of the Suez Canal with more than 1,400 transits in 2014, the Maersk Group welcomes the expansion of the Suez Canal and the advantages it entails. Egypt has all through the 20th and 21st century acted as the bridge between Europe and Asia thereby enabling global trade and growth. From 2004 to 2014, container volumes transported via the Suez Canal has grown around 70 percent and the expansion confirms the Suez Canal Authority’s continuous commitment to accommodating growth in trade. Maersk Line wins 'Shipping Line of the Year' title at Supply Chain Asia (SCA) Logistics Awards 2012 in Singapore. The company was judged best in class among operators in the region – beating other finalists that included APL, Cosco, Hanjin, and Yang Ming. John Corris, Head of Regional Key Client Management, accepted the trophy from SCA on behalf of Maersk Line Asia Pacific Chief Executive Thomas Knudsen. “It is an honour for Maersk Line to win such an award. It validates our commitment to our clients to be a trusted and responsible partner now and always,” Corris said.

Bleak Outlook for Asia-Europe Ocean Container Sector

Maersk Line cuts further capacity on the Asia-Europe trade on low demand, cuts AE5 service permanently & suspends the AE9 service. “We do not expect volume growth on the Asia-Europe trades this year so there is currently no need for the number of ships sailing”, says Vincent Clerc, Chief Trade & Marketing Officer for Maersk Line. “We expect a 3% slump on the Asia-Europe container trades for 2012 and are taking steps to adjust to this without reducing our market position”. “Further to the 9% capacity reductions we made earlier this year, this brings the total capacity reduction in 2012 on Maersk Line’s Asia-Europe network to 21%”. Maersk Line Wins Two Awards at ASFCA 2011

Maersk Line took home the “Best Global Shipping Line” and “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line” at the 25th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards, which was held in Singapore on 27th April 2011. Maersk Line won the “Best Global Shipping Line” award for the 18th consecutive year, which serves testimony to its continued status as the global leader in container shipping. It was also the second time that Maersk Line was awarded “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line”, recognition of its leadership on environmental performance.

Maersk: Partnership on Low-Sulfur fuel In Singapore

Maersk Line welcomes the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative and actively supports a joint industry approach to cleaner fuels in Singapore. Copenhagen, Singapore: April 13, 2011 - Today, Maersk Line announced its active participation in the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative by committing to switching to low-sulphur fuel in Singapore. The announced fuel switch backs up the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s engagement with the shipping line community to reduce carbon and sulphur emissions in Singapore.

Maersk Line Asia Pacific Appoints Gray

Maersk Line announced the appointment of Katie Gray as the new Regional Process Excellence Manager for the Asia Pacific region. Katie will be overall responsible for driving a portfolio of Process Excellence (PEX) strategies, initiatives and plans through effective end-to-end project and change management. Katie assumes her new role with immediate effect and is based in Singapore, reporting to Jesper Praestensgaard, Chief Executive of Maersk Line Asia Pacific. Katie joined Maersk Line in 1994, holding various positions in the United Kingdom and Copenhagen.

Noes to Lead Maersk Line Australia

The A.P. Moller – Maersk Group today announced the appointment of Nicolaj Noes as the new Maersk Line Country Manager for Australia. Nicolaj will be responsible for the development and execution of strategy in Australia, overseeing sales, operations and customer service. The 39-year-old is scheduled to assume his new role from August 2, 2010 in Sydney, Australia. He reports directly to Jesper Praestensgaard, Chief Executive for Maersk Line Asia Pacific. “We are very pleased to have Nicolaj join our team. A.P. Moller - Maersk Group and Xiamen Port Celebrate Opening of Terminal

A.P. Moller - Maersk Group and Xiamen Port (Group) held a grand opening ceremony for the Xiamen Songyu Phase I Container Terminal at Songyu Port, Xiamen. Madam Wu Yi, Vice Premier of the State Council, presided over the opening ceremony in the presence of Madam Ma Xiuhong, Vice Minister of Commerce. More than 200 people attended the event, including government officials from Fujian province and the city of Xiamen, as well as senior executives from the Xiamen Port Group and from A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, including Mr. Tom Behrens-Sorensen, Group Executive Vice President, and Mr. Richard Nicholson, Vice President for APM Terminals in the Greater China Area. APM Terminals is the terminal operating unit of A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.
