Jeppesen, Brazil Forge Marine Data Agreement

Jeppesen and ’s Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN) have reached an agreement giving Jeppesen access to all of the nautical charts and data published by DHN for ’s sovereign waters. The agreement, signed through Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais (EMGEPRON), will allow Jeppesen to use DHN’s high quality nautical charts and data in its industry leading marine navigation products for both commercial and light marine users. With direct access to sovereign data, Jeppesen is able to ensure the highest levels of quality and integrity, thereby increasing the safety of maritime navigation. The agreement also makes possible new chart and data coverage areas for Brazilian waters.

Transas Marine and VEI Form Alliance

Transas Marine (USA), Inc. of Lynwood, WA, and Valhalla Enterprises, Inc. (VEI), of Fort Lauderdale, FL, have announced a manufacturers’ alliance aimed at benefiting marine electronic dealers and recreational boaters. The agreement brings together VEI, a world leading manufacturer of flat panel displays and marine computers with Transas Marine, a world leader in electronic navigation products, vessel traffic systems and training solutions, marine surveillance, and simulation systems. Under the new alliance, VEI will distribute select Transas Marine navigation products to Transas Marine’s existing dealer network for the recreational market in the United States, the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Raytheon Completes Bridge System Installation

Raytheon Marine, provider of marine electronics, has installed its newest electronic bridge system on the 164 ft. (50 m) yacht Invader, a private yacht currently performing its maiden voyage from Italy to California. Built at the Codecasa shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, Invader's new electronic bridge system is comprised of various Raytheon marine navigation products including S-band and X-band Pathfinder®/ST MK Radar Systems and the Standard 20 Digital Gyro Compass. All components are designed specifically for high seas shipping and merchant vessels, and are utilized in Raytheon's Integrated Bridge Systems that are classified according to DNV (Watch 1 Certification).
