ETC Offers ECDIS Training Through Local Partners

Hamburg, Germany - ETC, the MSG Marine Serve GmbH operated ‘ECDIS Training Consortium,’ offers ECDIS type-specific training through local partners in order to provide a cost effective solution to its clients. The ECDIS training course ware, ECDIS training systems and approved Train-the-Trainer courses established by MSG are provided to the training partners, who are then supported with 24/7 certificate authentication and trainee database services for reference by them, by customers and by Port State Control and other concerned authorities.

MSG MarineServe GmbH Obtains German Flag State Approval of ECDIS Courses

MSG MarineServe GmbH obtains German Flag State approval of its ECDIS Training Courses. MSG MarineServe GmbH has received, as one of the first German training providers, approval from the BSH (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency), the German Flag State, for its STCW compliant ECDIS Training Programme. ECDIS Training is now a mandatory requirement for all ship’s captains and officers on SOLAS ships equipped with ECDIS, as the STCW manila Amendments came into force on the 1st of January, 2012.

New Training Alliance for Chartworld

MSG MarineServe, Safebridge and ChartWorld ECDIS training alliance. ChartWorld International has selected MSG MarineServe GmbH, its sister company Safebridge GmbH and the ECDIS Training Consortium (ETC) as its official training partner for the new ChartWorld eSeries, a “ECDIS as a Service” concept. MSG Marine and Safebridge will provide a complete eSeries training package, which encompasses both generic and type-specific training using a combination of traditional class based training and advanced web-based E-Learning programs.

As per January 1, 2018, Hoppe Singapore Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hoppe Group headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, has opened. “The decision to set up Hoppe Singapore, enhancing the already existing Hoppe network in China and South Korea, proves Hoppe’s commitment in ensuring a reliable and timely response on service and spares support to customers in the region,” said Marc Rohde, Managing Director of Hoppe Marine GmbH, Germany. Danelec Marine Appoints MSG to Provide ECDIS Training Worldwide

MSG MarineServe GmbH announced that it has been appointed as official training agent by Danelec Marine to provide ECDIS training services locally and worldwide. The agreement with MSG includes ETC, MSG’s ECDIS Training Consortium, to ensure that Danelec is able to offer a complete equipment training service in support of its global customer base. The training provided by MSG and its ETC partners is configured on a single, comprehensive, training structure and methodology in order to guarantee the quality and consistency of the training, while allowing Danelec to monitor content, quality standards and recordkeeping through a single point of contact. “We are very pleased with the partnership with MSG and ETC,” said Hans Ottosen, Danelec CEO.

MSG Contracts with Imtech to Cover ECDIS Training

MSG MarineServe GmbH contracts with Imtech Marine to cover their ECDIS training requirements worldwide. MSG is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Imtech Marine for the provision of ECDIS training services worldwide. Imtech had already reached agreement with MSG’s sister company, Safebridge, in March 2011 to entrust them with the creation of an E-learning training platform linked to their own ECDIS software for internet delivery;  this new agreement now entrusts its complete equipment training obligations to MSG and its worldwide support organization…

MSG to Provide Simrad ECDIS Training Worldwide

MSG MarineServe GmbH, a  maritime training company, will act as the official ECDIS training agent for the Navico Simrad ECDIS systems. The ECDIS training will be provided by MSG and its ‘ECDIS Training Consortium’ (ETC) or by sister company Safebridge GmbH using its innovative, online simulation, E-learning courses. The courses will provide trainees with comprehensive instruction, leading to full certification upon completion, and also allow third party authorities and customers, such as Port State Control, to reference trainee database services.

Simulation Companies Join to Teach ECDIS

Videotel, Safebridge and MSG join forces to offer a co-ordinated learning approach to ECDIS.   Maritime training software supplier Videotel joins hands with distance learning specialists Safebridge and MSG to offer the maritime community their ECDIS training courses, now updated to follow the latest IMO STCW amendments.   Deck officers who gain an interim certification of successful foundation training from Videotel, can progress to type-specific training and final certification by attending one of the training centres located strategically around the world that form part of the MSG controlled ECDIS Training Consortium (ETC).

Online simulation training specialist Safebridge will launch a new training course for Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS). Kelvin Hughes Marine Systems, a supplier of ships’ bridge systems, has appointed Safebridge and its sister company MSG MarineServe GmbH as authorized training providers for Kelvin Hughes ECDIS products. The new course is available online through the Safebridge cloud-based Internet infrastructure, on-board or as classroom-based training through the ECDIS Training Consortium (ETC) Network. The Safebridge online ECDIS training course includes guided lessons, open freeplay and a competency test.

Volvo Penta Names Kelleher VP Customer Support, Training

Volvo Penta of the Americas announced the appointment of Tony Kelleher as vice president for customer support and training. Kelleher will be responsible to support both marine and industrial segments within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Kelleher was previously director of the marine leisure segment with responsibility for OEM and dealer sales and partnership development for North America. He has also served as head of the service department and purchasing director within Volvo Penta of the Americas.

Jason Marine CEO to Retire

Joseph Foo Chew Tuck will take over as chief executive officer at Singapore based marine electronics systems integrator Jason Marine Group, following the retirement of long-serving CEO Ronald Tan Lian Huat.   On March 31, Ronald Tan Lian Huat will step down as a director of the Jason Marine and its subsidiaries and associated companies after more than 35 years with the group.   Company founder Joseph Foo Chew Tuck, who currently serves as executive chairman, will assume the role of CEO from April 1, 2018.

Elektrans Group has joined hands with German tank operator Chemikalien Seetransport (CST) and the consultancy and engineering company Marine Service GmbH to establish a joint venture -- Chemtrans India Pvt Ltd. "Elektran Group and a company affiliated to the reputed German tanker operator Chemikalien Seetransport GmbH (CST) and the consultancy and engineering company Marine Service GmbH are pleased to announce that they have concluded a joint venture agreement to set up 'Chemtrans India Private Limited," Elektrans group said in a statement.

HATLAPA Takes Over KGW Business Unit

As of April 1, 2006 the managing partners of HATLAPA Uetersener Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG (HATLAPA) took over the former business division “ship technology and cargo handling” of KGW Schweriner Maschinenbau GmbH (KGW) and integrated this into a newly founded company KGW Marine GmbH, located in Schwerin. Close to 20 KGW people, covering sales, design and development department as well as service and commissioning personnel, are going to stay with the new company, keeping responsibility for the existing orders. In doing so, the long-term future of the ship division’s product range of KGW is ensured. Within the last almost 15 years KGW Schweriner Maschinenbau GmbH has become one of the leading suppliers of wind mill towers.
