MacGregor Gets Large Crane Order for Prysmian’s New Cable Layer

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a large order for three cranes that will be installed onboard a new cable laying vessel (CLV) being built for Prysmian by shipbuilder Vard.MacGregor will deliver a 100-tonne active heave-compensated (AHC) crane, a 20T Offshore crane and a 3T deck crane to Prysmian, to equip the Italian owner’s third NB970 CLV from Vard.The crane supply scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.In addition, MacGregor has been contracted to supply its OnWatch solution…

Dutch Company Launches Wind Turbine Foundation Installation Vessel Design

Protea Launches Heavy-Lift Cranes

Protea, a manufacturer of offshore handling equipment, launched two types of heavy lift cranes at Nor-Shipping in Oslo earlier this year. “The target of any marine crane design is to provide high lifting performance whilst minimizing overall weight,” said Tomasz Paszkiewicz, Protea’s CEO. The two new crane types are the latest additions to the Proteus crane family. The first is a 1,600mT SWL floating crane targeted at the offshore wind market for the installation of offshore wind turbines.

Seaonics Secures Equipment Package Contract

Vard Holdings Limited, through its specialized subsidiary Seaonics, has secured a large equipment contract for a vessel under construction at Fincantieri S.p.A. Based in Ålesund, Norway, Seaonics designs and manufactures offshore handling equipment to improve all critical lift and handling operations. Its products are used in subsea construction, module handling, well intervention, reservoir exploration, ocean trawling and other specialized applications in the offshore and marine industries.

Caley Upgrades Saipem Reel Carousel

Offshore handling systems specialist, Caley Ocean Systems completed the refurbishment and upgrade of a 2,500-ton, 25-meter diameter reel carousel for Italian offshore contractor Saipem. The reel carousel will be used to transport umbilicals and flowlines from Norway to China on Big Lift heavy lift vessel Happy Rover, for the deepwater Liwan 3-1 field gas project in the South China Sea. Originally supplied over 15 years ago by Caley, the carousel has been extensively used by Saipem on a wide range of projects.

Offshore Cable Turntable Order for Jan De Nul

Jan De Nul Group to supply a 5,400 tonnes capacity cable turntable to offshore handling systems specialist Caley Ocean Systems. The turntable, including a 5 tonnes and 10 tonnes deck tensioner, is destined for the vessel Willem de Vlamingh. In addition to this turntable, Caley is supplying a modular loading tower assembly comprising loading arm, inboard chute, and control cabin. In the first quarter of 2013, Willem de Vlamingh will be being outfitted for cable laying offshore…

Hyundai RoRo Equipment Contracts for TTS

Norway's TTS Marine wins two contracts from Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries to supply RoRo ramps and doors TTS Marine AS, Bergen has through its subsidiary Company TTS Marine AB in Gothenburg, Sweden entered into two contracts with shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries for delivery of RoRo equipment being doors & ramps totaling a value of 49 MNOK. Deliveries will take place respectfully in 2012 & 2013. Bergen-headquartered TTS is a global enterprise that designs, develops and supplies equipment for the marine and oil and gas industries. The operations are split into three separate divisions: Marine, Offshore Handling Equipment and Port and Logistics. TTS is one of the top three largest suppliers in its specialized market segments.

Caley Winch and A-frame Systems for HHI Oceanographic RV

Offshore handling systems specialist, Caley Ocean Systems has been awarded a contract to supply oceanographic winches and A-frame systems to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for a new oceanographic research vessel. The state-of-the-art, ocean-going, vessel is capable of surveying to the full ocean depth (10,000m), using advanced exploration capabilities. Caley is providing bespoke oceanographic winches designed to handle high tension, heavy loads, featuring 'SMART' control systems for fully active heave compensation, and variable frequency drives.
