Bouygues Offshore Wins $128M Contract in Algeria

Bouygues Offshore with Italy's Saipem has won a contract for an oilfield development project in Algeria. The contract, worth $128.5 million for Bouygues Offshore, was awarded after a public opening process by the Sonatrach / BHP Billiton partnership on behalf of Sonatrach / BHP Billiton / Agip. It covers the Rhourde Ouled Dejmma field and five satellite fields, all located in Berkine Basin, East of Hassi Messaoud. This contract covers the engineering, procurement and construction of the facilities designed, and will be completed within two years.

Korea's STX Offshore Wins Patrol Ship Order

STX Offshore wins US$ 132-million order for 3 patrol ships for the Korea Coast Guard. Under the deal with the Korea Coast Guard (KCG), STX Offshore will deliver the vessels by the end of 2015, the company told Korea Times.

 The vessels, equipped with a Vulcan cannon, can cruise at an average speed of 30 knots. STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co., the nation's fourth-largest shipbuilder, also delivered similar patrol ships to the KCG in 2010 and 2011.

Bibby Offshore wins Shell Contract

Bibby Offshore won a contract with Shell, due to commence in Q1 2017, that will see Bibby Offshore provide engineering and subsea construction activities in the Gannet G field in the Central North Sea. Bibby Offshore is contracted to use utilize its multipurpose dive support and offshore construction vessel - Bibby Polaris - and its integral 1000 ton basket carousel to lay flexible pipe systems in water depths of approximately 95m. The company has also collaborated with a third party operator who will carry out trenching operations after the initial workscope is complete.

Semi-submersible Accommodation Rig Order for COSCO

COSCO Singapore Chinese subsidiary COSCO Qidong Offshore wins contract from Axis Offshore. The contract valued over US$200-million from Axis Offshore, a joint venture between Danish shipowner, J. Lauritzen and Norwegian private equity fund, HitecVision, is to build a harsh environment semi-submersible accommodation vessel. This rig will be built to Global Maritime’s design, GM500A and will provide accommodation for 500 persons. It will be equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system and is designed to operate in the harsh environment in the North Sea. The rig is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2015. The parties intend that the contract will be made effective within 3 months from the date of signing.  

Chiles Offshore Wins Award

The National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) awarded Chiles Offshore the 2002 Safety in Seas Award, recognizing their outstanding contribution to the improvement of safe operating procedures in the offshore industries. Selected by a blue ribbon panel of judges composed of representatives from the US Coast Guard, the Minerals Management Service and the National Academy of Sciences Marine Sciences Board, Chiles Offshore was recognized for their complete, rig- specific orientation, and the CrewMaster(TM) rig-based progressive training program. CrewMaster(TM) is part of Chiles Offshore's comprehensive professional development program, known as SkillMaster(TM).

Stolt Offshore Wins $150M Contract

Stolt Offshore S.A. signed an interim agreement for the second phase of the Amenam project in Nigeria. The contract, once finalised, is valued at approximately $150 million. It calls for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of a 640 tonne water injection platform with 550 tonne topsides at the Stolt Offshore Globestar fabrication yard at Warri in Nigeria. A 60 kilometre, 24-inch diameter gas export line will be installed together with a two kilometre 18-inch diameter pipeline that will link the new water injection platform to a process platform. The offshore installation programme will be in 2005.

Technip Offshore Wins Pipeline Contract

Technip Offshore Contractors Inc., formerly Coflexip Stena Offshore Inc., a U.S. entity of Technip-Coflexip has been awarded by BP America Production Company the fabrication and installation of a deepwater subsea pipeline for their King West Development. The King West well is located in Mississippi Canyon Block 84 in the Gulf of Mexico. The planned field layout for this development consists of one subsea well located in MC 84, tied back to an existing in-line subsea tie-in base associated with the producing King Subsea Flowline System. The pipeline installation is scheduled for April 2003, utilizing Technip-Coflexip's ultra deepwater pipe laying vessel the CSO Deep Blue…

Stolt Offshore S.A. received Letters of Intent, valued at approximately $26 million for two contracts from Statoil ASA on its Norne Satellites Project in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea. The Letters of Intent cover the installation of umbilicals between the Norne FPSO and the new satellite locations Stær and Svale, the installation of manifolds, the fabrication and installation of risers, water injection flowlines and flexible components as well as subsea tie-ins. All of the flexible components will be manufactured by our joint venture company NKT Flexibles. Work on both contracts starts immediately with offshore installation in 2005.

Bibby Offshore Scoops Two Business Awards

Bibby Offshore, a provider of subsea installation, inspection, repair and maintenance services to the offshore oil and gas industry, has been recognized at the 2014 Northern Star Business Awards winning in the categories Commitment to People Development and Outstanding Contribution to the Energy Sector. The awards were announced September 25 at the AECC. The Commitment to People Development award recognizes the company that has shown the most commitment to developing its staff through skills and personal development, investment and achievement programs and outcomes.

Bulk Carriers Delivered, Contract Awarded, Reports COSCO

COSCO (Qidong) Offshore wins a US$ 20-million contract for a jack-up barge, & other COSCO subsidiaries deliver bulk carriers. This jack-up barge for Australian owners will be built to GustoMSC SEA-1250 design and have capacity of 300 tons deck crane and operation in water depth up to 30 meters. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in eleven months time. COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard Co., Ltd has delivered a bulk carrier of 92500 DWT, “SIBERIA EXPRESS”, measuring 229.165 meters in LOA, 38.01 meters in breadth and 20.7 meters in depth, to its European buyer. COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd has delivered one bulk carrier of 35000 DWT, “MARINE PRINCE”, measuring 179.99 meters in LOA, 30 meters in breadth and 14.7 meters in depth to its Asian buyer.  

Thai Offshore Supplier Gets Chevron Contract

The 3 year firm contract with plus 2 x 1 year extension options is to provide coil tubing marine support services to Chevron`s production activities in the Gulf of Thailand. Uniwise Offshore will purchase a Platform Supply Vessel currently under construction in a Chinese Shipyard, to fulfil the service requirements. The vessel will commence operation in October 2012. The new contract is a continuation of a long standing relationship with Chevron in the region. CEO Diederik de Boer said, “This new vessel represents our sixth Offshore Service Vessel servicing Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. We have been able to leverage off our strong operating track record in Crew/Utility Vessels to further increase our exposure to Chevron’s OSV operations.

Hyundai Heavy Sets 2018 Sales Target $7.5 billion

South Korea's leading shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) aims to achieve 7.98 trillion won ($7.5 billion) in sales this year as its president warned of an unprecedented crisis due to declining order backlogs, reports Yonhap. Hyundai Heavy has not won any offshore plant orders for the past two years. The company's 2018 sales target represents a 60 percent decline from a decade ago. The shipyard said it is expected to post an estimated 10.03 trillion won in sales for 2017. The sales target is based on a parent base.

Coflexip Stena Offshore Wins Bongo Installation Deal

Coflexip Stena Offshore International has been awarded through Single Buoy Moorings (SBM) a significant part of the mooring and installation package for Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company's (SNEPCO) Bonga field development. This field is located in OML* 118 some 120 km offshore Nigeria's Niger Delta South West coastline in 3,600 ft. (1,100 m) of water. The field is operated by SNEPCO (55%) on behalf of Nigerian National Petroleum Company in partnership with Esso Exploration and Production Company Nigeria Ltd (20%), Nigeria Agip Exploration Ltd (12.2%) and Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd (12.5%). CSO International's scope will cover project management, engineering, procurement, transportation and installation of three dynamic 19-in.

Stolt Offshore Wins $120M in Contracts

Stolt Offshore S.A. received contract awards and Letters of Intent totaling approximately $120 million from various customers operating in the North Sea. In the UK sector of the North Sea, BP has awarded Stolt Offshore two contracts totalling $12.4 million for construction and installation of the gas import/export system for Clair Phase 1 and the tie-in of the Clair oil export and gas import/export pipeline systems. BP has also awarded Stolt Offshore a contract, valued at approximately $19.3 million, for the design and construction of an 18-inch hot-tap into the 36-inch BP Forties Pipeline System. Stolt Offshore has been issued with a Letter of Intent for the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of a 29km 12-inch pipeline system, in the Southern sector of the North Sea.

Canyon Offshore Wins Contract on Deepwater Canyon Express

Canyon Offshore has been awarded a one-year Remotely Operated Vehicle services contract to support maintenance on the Canyon Express development in Mississippi Canyon in the Gulf of Mexico. At 7,200 feet of water, Canyon Express is the deepest operating production project in the world and includes three separate gas fields, King’s Peak, Aconcagua and Camden Hills. Under the terms of the contract, Canyon will provide integrated ROV and DP vessel services on an ongoing scheduled and callout basis. Initial planned work includes a detailed baseline CP and visual survey of the East and West flowlines, and the main umbilical and methanol coiled tubing lines. In addition, Canyon will replace subsea chemical injection valves and undertake other field maintenance and intervention tasks as required.

L&T Bags Offshore Contract from ONGC

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has signed an offshore contract for ‘Bassein Development 3 Well Platform & Pipeline Project’ with Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Larsen and Toubro stated in a stock exchange announcement that the contract is valued at approximately 1,483 crores (approximately 229 Million USD). The order, won against International Competitive Bidding, encompasses ‘EPCIC’ – Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning - for the project.

Royal IHC Acquires KCI from Oceanteam

Dutch supplier of vessels, equipment and services for the offshore, dredging and wet mining markets Royal IHC said it has acquire all of the outstanding share capital of Dutch based engineering and consultancy company KCI the Engineers B.V. from Dutch-Norwegian offshore service provider Oceanteam ASA. IHC said it plans to maintain KCI as an independent brand and operating company which will continue to serve external clients while also working on IHC projects. Diederik van Rijn, IHC Group Executive Director, said, “The acquisition KCI fits within the overall strategy of IHC to further develop into a provider of knowledge and technology based services and products.

No Financial Aid for STX Shipbuilding, Say Creditors

Creditors of financially troubled STX Offshore & Shipbuilding are opposing financial aid for the shipyard citing the gloomy outlook of the shipbuilding industry, Korea’s Yonhap News has reported. Creditors of STX Offshore, led by the state-run Korea Development Bank (KDB), decided to provide 450bn won ($384m) in financial aid to the shipyard last week in return for a thorough restructuring. But Woori Bank and KEB Hana Bank notified other creditors that they would not join the plan citing the shipbuilding industry’s worsening business conditions.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas) have appointed Philippe Kavafyan to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Lars Bondo Krogsgaard to Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO) of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. The appointments will take effect on 1 April, 2018, and are made in accordance with the joint venture agreement's principle of changing its leadership every four years. Emas Reels in $32m Contract

Singapore-listed offshore firm EMAS Offshore Limited wins $32m of new business  has secured new awards and letter of intents for charters amounting to approximately US$32 million, including options. These new charters will see EMAS Offshore’s Anchor Handling Tug (AHT), Anchor Handling Tug and Supply (AHTS) and Platform Supply (PSV) vessels supporting National Oil companies (NOCs), International Oil companies (IOCs) and other offshore contractors on drilling operations and cargo supply runs for offshore oil field projects in their production phases.

SBM Offshore Hands over FPSO Turritella to Shell

SBM Offshore said it has completed the transaction related to the sale of floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Turritella to Shell E and P Offshore Services B.V.   Shell exercised an option to purchase the FPSO from SBM Offshore in summer 2017.    The Turritella FPSO is contracted for the Stones deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico, which began production in 2016.   The vessel has a daily production capacity of approximately 60,000 barrels of oil and 15 million cubic feet of natural gas.

Daewoo Ship, STX Offshore Lead Advances Among Korean Shipyards

According to a Nov. 1 report from Bloomberg, STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co., the world’s fourth-largest shipyard, led advances among South Korean shipbuilders in Seoul trading on expectations that growing global trade will prompt more orders. STX Offshore gained 8.1 percent to 28,550 won, the highest price since August 2008, at the 3 p.m. close of trade in Seoul. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., the world’s second-largest shipyard, climbed 3.2 percent to 30,600 won after winning a $510m contract. (Source: Bloomberg)
