UAE Shipyard Begins Operations as Albwardy Damen
Albwardy Marine Engineering and Damen Shipyards Sharjah have officially brought both brands together under one umbrella. Under the new name, Albwardy Damen, the United Arab Emirates-based shipyard will continue to construct newbuild steel and aluminum vessels as well as provide the same ship repair services to its marine and oil and gas customers in the Middle East. Albwardy Marine Engineering was founded in 1978 and has been a joint venture with Damen Shipyards Group since 2008. In 2014 the official opening of Damen Shipyards Sharjah took place.

DryShips Inc. announced today that, it has agreed to enter into a “zero cost” Option Agreement (“LPG Option Agreement”) with companies controlled by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. George Economou, to purchase up to four high specifications Very Large Gas Carriers (“VLGC(s)”) capable of carrying liquefied petroleum gas (“LPG”) that are currently under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries (“HHI”) . Drum Cussac and Ambrey Risk have agreed the sale and purchase of Drum Cussac’s maritime transits security division. Drum Cussac’s transits security division provides security consultants in all marine environments to protect commercial shipping from seaborne piracy threats, predominantly in the Lloyds of London High Risk Area (HRA) of the Indian Ocean.
