Bureau Veritas Launches Worldwide E-certification

Bureau Veritas said it is now issuing both classification and statutory e-certificates after having successfully piloted the program with ship owners and flag states. Transas Updates Ship Security Alert System

Transas Marine launched its latest ship security alert system ShipGuard 4 SSAS, utilizing the SkyWaveIsatData Pro transceiver. The IsatDataPro(IDP) series operates on the Inmarsat I-4 constellation which provides improved network speed. Polling request and response times now takes 30-45 seconds, which Transas says is four times faster than its predecessor. Transas ShipGuard 4 SSAS is type-approved by Germanischer Lloyd and provides regulatory SSAS functionality. It includes modem / GPS receiver, two alert activation circuits and on-board OFF/ON/TEST key switch.

Transas Releases New Version of FleetView Online

Transas Marine has released a new version of its FleetView Online web-based SSAS-tracking service. New FleetView Online version boasts improved user interface, object overlay and chart navigation controls. Object overlay on the charts have been updated to enhance visual appearance and improve user experience at lower scales. Previous toolbars have been removed and navigation controls added to the chart display to improve viewing ability. A 'Google' style map slider bar has been added allowing scaling through the charts in three ways: zoom slider, mouse wheel scroll or manual selection from lower task bar. Vessel information panel on the left of the display can be hidden, providing a full screen chart display for presentation views.

New Veslink Premium OnBoard and Agent Portal

At The Posidonia 2010 International Shipping Exhibition, Veson Nautical, provider of Maritime Enterprise Resource Planning (Maritime-ERP) solutions and services, announced two modules for its automated communication service: Veslink Premium OnBoard and Veslink Agent Portal. These two Veslink additions offer shippers, vessel personnel, office staff and port agents a configurable web-based service for collecting and exchanging data vital to successful shipping operations. Veslink Premium OnBoard enables two-way communication between the vessel and onshore office for the collection of vessel reports including position/noon, port activity, departure, and custom reports.

New Navy Contracts

MAR Inc., Rockville, Md., is being awarded a maximum amount $30,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract in support of the Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center, Port Hueneme, for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the M/V Independence, including providing research, development, testing, and evaluation of undersea surveillance systems, load handling systems, acoustic array systems, cable system components, cable and system survivability studies, installation methods, test vessel support, and training range establishment and maintenance. Work will be performed in Port Hueneme, Calif. The term of the contract is not to exceed 60 months, with an expected completion date of April 2015.
