PCCI to Provide Revised Crane Load Chart

PCCI, Inc. of Alexandria, Virginia, was awarded a contract by the Department of Transportation/U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) to provide a new, revised and certified crane load chart for the self-propelled crane barge “MARY ANN”. PCCI’s naval architects and marine engineers specialize in stability and heavy lift operations.  The new crane load chart is being prepared to allow the barge to maintain OSHA certification following replacement of the original stack tower/wheelhouse structure.

PCCI Wins Skimmer Boats Consulting Contract

PCCI awarded DC Water contract for the design and build process of skimmer boats PCCI, Inc. of Alexandria, Virginia, was awarded a contract to provide consulting services for the design/build process of debris skimmer boats for the Department of Fleet Management for the DC Water and Sewer Authority. PCCI’s consulting support includes providing technical assistance, system configurations and oversight of the acquisition, design review and the design/build process for new skimmer boats.

Navy Ocean Services Contracts Awarded to Five Firms

The US Department of Defense inform that five firms are to share in a broad range of ocean engineering services contracts with a combined maximum dollar value of US$99-million. DoD explains that the work to be performed provides for ocean engineering services in support of projects involving ocean cable systems, ocean work systems (such as shipboard load handling systems and undersea work systems), waterfront facilities, offshore structures, moorings, and ocean construction equipment. Tim Beaver, Chief Executive Officer of Global Diving & Salvage, Inc., has been elected President of the American Salvage Association at its recent meeting in Arlington, VA, October 5, 2011. Beaver succeeds Mauricio Garrido, who served as President from 2009-2011. Paul Hankins, Donjon-SMIT, LLC, has been elected Vice President. Todd Schauer, Resolve Marine Group, has been named Secretary/Treasurer.“This new leadership team will serve to energize the ASA’s approach to the diverse fronts tackled by the ASA,” said Beaver.

Sites Joins PCCI as Senior Engineer

PCCI, Inc. (Alexandria, Virginia) announced that Eric Sites has joined the engineering staff in their Alexandria office as a Senior Engineer. He will be responsible for mooring design, ocean engineering and ocean facility construction management. Sites brings to PCCI experience as a Naval Architect, Project Engineer and Hydrodynamicist emphasizing hydrodynamic and hydrostatic analysis of floating structures, and pier/wharf construction and renovation. He possesses a Master of Science in Ocean and Coastal Engineering from the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, at the University of Hawaii (SOEST), and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University.

PCCI Provides Training on Marine Terminal Mooring and Pollution

Prevention to Senior Level Oil and Gas Transportation and Terminal Managers from Eurasia PCCI, Inc. conducted technical training for 15 senior executives participating in the Special American Business Internship Training Program (SABIT) on September 17, 2003. The participating executives were from oil pipeline, shipping, and terminal companies; and from design and engineering companies; located in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.

PCCI Awarded Subcontract for Port Environmental Engineering

PCCI, Inc. was awarded a subcontract by MPRI, Inc., a division of L-3 Communications, to provide environmental engineering expertise to an Egyptian commercial port for matters related to port environmental, marine firefighting and ship security. PCCI provided subject matter experts to review the port’s infrastructure and procedures and provide recommendations for improved all-hazards emergency response, port safety, and waste management upgrades. PCCI also developed draft plans and procedures for the port including: oil and hazardous substance spill response plans; port environmental, fire and safety training and exercise plans; and waste management plans.

PCCI Gets MARAD Training Contract

PCCI, Inc. was awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Transportation/ U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) to provide Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training to Ready Reserve Force (RRF) personnel and key RRF vessel crewmembers. This training will be performed on-site at MARAD reserve fleet sites and at out-port locations throughout the U.S.

USN Awards 391 Contractors

The U.S. Navy is awarding indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award contracts to 391 contractors that will provide for their competition for service requirements solicited by Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Naval Supply Systems Command, Military Sealift Command, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Strategic Systems Programs, and the United States Marine Corps. The 22 functional service areas within the scope of the contracts include 1. Research and Development Support. 2. Engineering System Engineering and Process Engineering Support. 3. Modeling, Simulation, Stimulation, and Analysis Support. 4. Prototyping, Pre-Production, Model-Making, and Fabrication Support.

PCCI Participates in Camp

For the second year in a row, PCCI, Inc. partnered with the Alexandria Seaport Foundation for their Summer Environmental Camp. PCCI volunteers provided a weekly educational session explaining the sources, clean-up methods, possible results, and remediation of oil spills to camp groups that ranged in age from eight to thirteen and ranged in size from four to ten. PCCI, Inc., based in Alexandria, Va., provides marine and environmental engineering, planning and training services for industry and governments worldwide. PCCI Awarded Contract in Support of Navy's Response Program

PCCI, Inc. was awarded an indefinite quantity contract by the Atlantic Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for services in support of the Navy's Oil Pollution Response Program at Various Locations within the Atlantic Division, NAVFAC's area of responsibility. PCCI responsibilities include: development and updates of facility response plans required under OPA 90, oil and hazardous substance spill contingency plans for both domestic and overseas locations, integrated contingency plans (ICPs), SPCC plans, the conduct of drills and exercises to meet PREP guidelines, spill management and other spill response training, and the design of spill prevention systems. The contract includes two one year options for the same professional skills.

West Joins PCCI

PCCI, Inc. announced that Todd West joined the professional staff in its Alexandria, VA office as a Project Engineer. Mr. West will be working with Ocean Facilities engineering, Dry Dock engineering and Salvage engineering. Previously, Mr. West held the position of Engineer at T.Y. Lin International, where he worked on bridge design. He received a Masters of Civil Engineering, with a concentration in structures, from the University of Delaware. His graduate research focused on applications of advanced composite materials for bridge rehabilitation. He also possesses a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.

PCCI Awarded USACE Contract

PCCI, Inc., Alexandria, Va., was awarded a contract by the USACE Engineering Research & Development Center for the investigation and modeling of mooring forces, and the design of rapidly deployable mooring systems for floating breakwaters. This is the second contract awarded by the Army Corps to PCCI in this research area. PCCI has just completed Phase 1 for the development of a computer model specifically tailored for the dynamic analysis of moored floating breakwaters. The model was constructed using the Visual Orcaflex software package developed by Orcina Ltd. PCCI engineers use Orcaflex for ocean system modeling.

PCCI Conducts Oil Spill Response Training

PCCI, Inc. conducted oil spill management training for 18 senior executives participating in the Special American Business Internship Training Program (SABIT) on November 1, 2002. The participating executives came from oil, pipeline, and ecological companies located in Russia, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. This is the third time that PCCI has provided training for the SABIT program of the U.S. Department of Commerce. PCCI provided the visiting delegation with comprehensive training in the areas of spill preparedness, evaluating and procuring oil spill response equipment, and oil spill response readiness.
