Plans in Progress for New North Sea Wells

Esgian has published its Week 49 Rig Market Roundup highlighting new drilling activity in the North Sea and a new licensing deal in Morocco.Drilling Activity and DiscoveriesSerica Energy is continuing with plans for its four-well drilling campaign in the UK North Sea, scheduled for 2024 and early 2025. The campaign will be carried out using the semisubmersible COSLInnovator. All four wells are production wells. The first well in the campaign will be a sidetrack of an existing well (B1z) on the Bittern field.

Malaysia: Petronas Launches Investigation into Fatal Offshore Incident

Malaysian oil and gas giant said Thursday it was investigating the cause behind the incident that happened earlier this week when the Dayang Topaz offshore vessel crashed into its platform at the Baram field, off Sarawak."A thorough assessment of the platform structures is being carried out. Sapura Energy Bags Multiple Contracts

Malaysia’s oilfield services player Sapura Energy said it has has clinched contracts worth a total of MYR 1 billion ($242 million) for several new oil patch deals and one – the company’s first – offshore wind contract.The 10 new contracts are for its engineering and construction and drilling segments across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia, said a press release from the company.In addition, the company has been selected for a frame agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for fixed offshore structure works, the company said in a statement today.Regarding the first offshore wind farm contract, the statement said, "Sapura Offshore Sdn Bhd (Sapura Offshore) has been awarded a contract by Yunneng Wind Power Co. IPC Begins Drilling Program in Malaysia

The oil and gas exploration and production company International Petroleum Corporation (IPC) has commenced drilling the first well in a planned multi-well drilling program on Block PM307, located offshore Peninsular Malaysia.Canada-based IPC is the operator of Block PM307 and holds a 75% working interest, with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd holding the remaining 25% working interest.The PM307 drilling program is planned to consist of two infill landing pilot wells in the south-eastern and north-eastern areas of the Bertam field, followed by the Keruing exploration well and three Bertam field infill wells, IPC said in a press release.The first pilot well will test the upside potential in the northeastern A15 area…

MISC Buys Back 50% Equity in Gumusut-Kakap for $445mln

Malaysian state-owned shipping company MISC has bought the remaining 50% stake in the Gumusut-Kakap Semi-Floating Production System Limited (GKL) for $445m from E&P Venture Solutions (EPV), part of Petronas Carigali. GKL, a wholly-owned subsidary of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB), owns the Gumusut-Kakap semisubmersible floating production system (FPS), which is now on a 25 year charter with Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. - a unit of Royal Dutch Shell plc. - that commences October 2014. MISC told Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday that it had sold the stake in GKL, which left it with the remaining 50%, to strengthen the group’s financial position, which has since improved significantly.

Lundin Spuds off Malaysia

Lundin Petroleum's wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Malaysia BV  has commenced drilling of the Selada-1 exploration well in Block PM308A, offshore Malaysia. The well will target hydrocarbons in Miocene aged sands and is located 14 km to the south of the Bertam field operated by Lundin Malaysia. The Selada-1 exploration well will be drilled with the West Prospero jack-up rig to a total depth of approximately 1,700 metres below mean sea level. The drilling of the well is expected to take approximately 30 days. Lundin Malaysia is the operator of and holds a 75 percent working interest in PM308A with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd holding a 25 percent working interest. Lundin Malaysia operates seven blocks in Malaysia, namely PM307, PM319, PM308A, PM308B, PM328, SB303 and SB307/308.

Technip Awards EPIC Offshore Malaysia Contract from Petronas

French oilfield services provider Technip SA  said it has been awarded an engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning contract by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd or PCSB for D18 Project. The project covers the procurement and installation of two 8” water injection flexible pipes totalling 9.5 kilometers. The flexible pipes will connect three fixed jacket platforms which form the existing D18 infrastructure offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, at a water depth of 36 meters. This contract is part of the 5-year Framework Agreement signed with PETRONAS in late 2014 and is in line with Technip strategy to strengthen its partnerships with its clients to drive cost optimization.

Barakah Offshore Gets Contract from Petronas

Barakah Offshore Petroleum’s subsidiary, PBJV Group Sdn Bhd (PBJV), has received a Letter of Award from Malaysian oil company Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, for the supply, refurbishment and maintenance of cleaning pig and associated services in Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Barakah said its wholly-owned subsidiary PBJV has received a letter of award from Petronas Carigali for the proposed job. "The total value of the contract will depend on the actual work orders to be issued by Petronas Carigali from time to time during the contract period. Barakah management estimates that the value of the contract to be about RM20 million to RM30 million, based on the current estimated work programme," said Barakah.

Carimin Wins Petronas Spot Charter

Carimin Petroleum Berhad one of the leading providers of offshore oil and gas (O&G) support services in Malaysia, has received an umbrella contract for provision of spot charter marine vessel services from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). The award, secured by the Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary Carimin Sdn Bhd, would commence immediately and be effective for two years until 2017. Carimin is required to provide two types of vessels, namely the Anchor Handling Tug/Supply (AHTS) vessel and the workboat. The contract has an option for a further one-year extension. The spot charter contract stipulates usage of the vessels by the client on demand within the contract period.

EnQuest Eyes ExxonMobil Malaysia Assets

EnQuest PLC, through its wholly owned subsidiary EQ Petroleum Production Malaysia Ltd, agreed to acquire ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc.’s interest in the Seligi oil field and the PM8 PSC, located offshore Malaysia. The agreement is subject to the approval of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and satisfaction of certain conditions precedent. This acquisition is another step in the execution of the Company’s strategy to extend its international footprint in Malaysia. Lundin Petroleum Drills Offshore Malaysia

Lundin Petroleum AB has commenced the fourth well in its 2012 Malaysian exploratory drilling campaign. Tembakau-1 exploration well in PM307 Block, offshore east coast Peninsula Malaysia, is a vertical well to be drilled by the jackup rig West Courageous to a depth of 1,650 metres in approximately 80 metres water depth. The drilling of the well is expected to take two to three weeks. Lundin Petroleum holds 75 percent interest in PM307 through its subsidiary Lundin Malaysia BV. Lundin Malaysia BV's partner is PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd with 25 percent interest. Lundin Malaysia BV operates six blocks in Malaysia, namely PM307, PM308A, PM308B, SB303, SB307 & SB308.

Keppel on Track to Complete FSO

Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to complete the fast-track conversion of FSO Sepat, a floating production and storage (FSO) unit, for Bumi Armada Navigation Sdn Berhad (Bumi Armada). With a storage capacity of 500,000 barrels of oil, FSO Sepat will be deployed in offshore Malaysia for the development of the Sepat field for PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. Naming the vessel today was the Lady Sponsor Datin Aspalela Mohd Yusop, the spouse of Datuk Abdullah Karim, President of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. "We are pleased to have been entrusted with all of Bumi Armada's FPSO and FSO conversion projects to date," said Mr Nelson Yeo, Managing Director of Keppel Shipyard. Petronas-Shell Makes Fourth Discovery

CS Mutiara Petroleum Sdn Bhd, a 50/50 joint venture company between PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd and Shell Exploration and Production Malaysia B.V., has made another gas discovery in Block PM301, off the northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Drilling operations on Bumi South-1 well commenced on 25 February 2005. The exploration well, located in a water depth of 55 m was drilled to a total depth of 1650 m and encountered multiple gas zones. Further technical evaluation is required to determine the reserves. Bumi South-1 is the fourth discovery in Block PM301, following the recent exploration successes of Bunga Kamelia, Bunga Zetung and Bunga Anggerik. The latest discovery is located about 25 kilometres northwest of the Bunga Anggerik gas field discovered in November 2004.

Technip Awarded Contract

Technip has been awarded a contract for the Cili Padi gas field development by Shell Oil and Gas Malaysia LLC. Shell, a production sharing contract (PSC) contractor to Petronas, is the operator for the field, with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Nippon Oil as partners. 91m. the contract. platforms, a new 30km pipeline including a subsea T-piece for the tie-in of the Selasih field, and a new electrical power generation and distribution system. The project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter 2008.
