TWMA Wins UKCS Contract with Premier Oil

Huge Offshore Engineering Contract for CB&I

US-based CB&I wins a project contract worth US$250-million from Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co, Ltd. (DSME). CB&I's scope of work, which will commence in the first quarter, includes detailed engineering design services for the Mariner Topsides project that is part of the Mariner oil field development project being operated by Statoil in the UK North Sea. The Mariner heavy oil field is located on the East Shetland Platform of the UK North Sea, approximately 150 kilometers east of the Shetland Isles. Pending final approval of the field development plan by the UK authorities, Statoil expects to start production from Mariner in 2017. The field is estimated to produce for 30 years with an average production of around 55,000 barrels of oil per day.

BW Offshore Gets Contract Extension for FPSO Polvo

BW Offshore has signed an agreement with Petrorio for a one-year extension for the lease and operation of the FPSO Polvo. The firm period has been extended to Q3 2019 (from Q3 2018), with options until Q3 2022. The company has also announced that BW Catcher FPSO received the First Oil Certificate following the successful completion of the 72-hour interim performance test subsequent to the introduction of hydrocarbons on 23rd December 2017. BW Catcher FPSO is owned and operated by BW Offshore and the First Oil Certificate confirms the commencement of a seven-year fixed term contract…

Awilco Offshore Awarded Contract for Operation Offshore Vietnam

Awilco Offshore through Premium Drilling has entered into a Contract with Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore BV (Premier) for the jack-up drilling rig, WilBoss. The contract with Premier is for 6 months operation offshore Vietnam. If the firm contract period is increased to 12 months prior to commencement, Premier will be given an option for a further 12 month period. The firm contract value for 6 months is approximately $40m. The contract is to commence during the first quarter 2008. WilBoss is under construction at KeppelFELS Shipyard in Singapore and is scheduled for delivery at the end of the fourth quarter 2007. WilBoss is Awilco Offshore's fourth jack-up newbuilding and is equipped for high pressure/ high temperature drilling in water depths up to 400ft.

SBM Offshore Bags Premier Oil FPSO Contract

SBM Offshore informed that Premier Oil plc (Premier) has awarded the Company the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract for an FPSO for Phase 1 of its Sea Lion development in the North Falkland Basin. The 18-month contract awarded to SBM Offshore covers the FEED elements of the proposed FPSO. PEC Premier Adds to SafeGulf Training

SEMS awareness training is now available as a part of the SafeGulf offshore safety orientation program. On January 1st, PEC Premier added a Safety and Environmental Management System module to its one-day Basic Safety Orientation and its three-day Core safety training course, meaning that both will now meet the new requirements for SafeGulf. The company is also offering stand-alone SEMS training for offshore workers who already have their SafeGulf cards. The U.S. government is now requiring oil and gas companies to implement SEMS plans for their offshore facilities.

Island Offshore Wins Premier Oil Service Contract

Island Offshore, a global Light Well Intervention (LWI) specialist, has been selected by Premier Oil U.K. Ltd. to undertake a new LWI service contract on the U.K. Continental Shelf. The win strengthens Island Offshore’s established position in the dynamic and competitive North Sea marketplace. Premier, an oil and gas exploration and production company, awarded the business to Island Offshore and the North Sea RLWI Alliance, the operator of three monohull vessels specially designed for well intervention tasks. A key factor in the decision-making process was said to be Island Offshore’s extensive segment expertise, having successfully performed approximately 250 well interventions since 2005.

MSRC Completes Gulf of Mexico Expansion

The Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) announced that it has completed its Gulf of Mexico expansion program, known as Deep Blue. The new response capabilities created under this program are now ready to respond to an oil spill incident, if and when necessary. The key objectives of this expansion program include increasing the effectiveness of mechanical recovery through expanding the number of dedicated oil spill response and recovery platforms in the Gulf of Mexico; increasing the ability to utilize commercial Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and Multi-Purpose Support Vessels (MPSVs) to reinforce MSRC’s existing dedicated platforms…

Premier Oil and Rockhopper Abandon Ocean Rig Contract

Two of the major British players in Falkland Islands offshore oil development, Premier Oil and Rockhopper Exploration, cancelled a joint venture contract with Ocean Rig UDW. In June 2014, the companies entered into a contract with Ocean Rig for the provision of the Eirik Raude for an exploration drilling campaign in the Falkland Islands. However, following a number of material "operational issues" with the rig, Premier and Noble Energy issued a termination notice to Ocean Rig on Thursday, terminating the contract with immediate effect.

Dutch provider of offshore support vessels Vroon has entered into a five-year charter plus options with Premier Oil for one of its emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRV). "We are pleased to announce that VOS Famous has entered into a five-year charter (plus options) with Premier Oil, following a competitive tender. This is to attend their newly arriving Catcher FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading)," said a press statement from the company. This builds on a steadfast partnership built up over a number of years on a number of vessels.

Premier Awards FPSO FEED Contract to SBM Offshore

SBM Offshore announced it has been awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract from Premier Oil plc for an FPSO for Phase 1 of its Sea Lion development in the North Falkland Basin. The 18-month contract awarded to SBM Offshore covers the FEED elements of the proposed FPSO. The asset will be a converted FPSO with a throughput capacity of approximately 85,000 barrels per day and will operate in 450 meters of water. The proposed Phase 1 Sea Lion project, operated by Premier with Rockhopper Exploration plc as the JV partner, is located 220 kilometers north of the Falkland Islands. This first phase is subject to final investment decision targeted for the end of the FEED in the second half of 2017.

Drydocks World to Build Solan Underwater Facility

Drydocks World, a  service provider to the global maritime and offshore oil and gas industry has entered into a multi-million contract with Premier Oil, a well-known oil exploration and production company with interests in several countries, to build subsea facility for Solan oil field, at its Dubai based premium shipyard.

OTC: Offshore Industry Barometer For More Than 30 Years

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) annually attracts a global audience of leading engineers, managers, and scientists to the heart of the oil and gas industry. It was 1969 when OTC made its debut in Houston, a big year for the energy industry: oil was discovered in the North Sea; environmentalists were blocking the Trans-Alaskan pipeline that would bring North Slope oil supplies to the lower 48 states; oil rich countries in the Middle East and North Africa were demanding a bigger share of oil profits; and oil prices were positioned for takeoff. That inaugural event was modest by today’s standards, attracting just 4,200 offshore professionals and 125 exhibitors-less than one-tenth the turnout of recent years. Currently OTC is the offshore industry’s largest annual gathering.

Premier Supports Development of Offshore Industry

Speaking durig a recent Business Summitt held by the Mayor and City Council of Prince Rupert, Premier Dan Miller voiced his support of the development of the offshore oil and gas industry on the coast of British Columbia. "I am not opposed to it [the lifting of the moratorium on offshore oil and gas exploration]," said Premier Miller. From the Mayor and Council Business Summitt came the recommendation that a Canada/British Columbia offshore petroleum board be established. This board is to have decision-making capabilities along the lines of those established in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Currently, there is both federal and provincial legislation preventing offshore oil and gas exploration on Canada's west coast.

GL Noble Denton to Manage Premier Oil Asset Integrity

Premier Oil, the FTSE-250 oil and gas exploration and production company, has awarded a major asset integrity management contract to GL Noble Denton for the provision of asset integrity advice and inspection services across Premier Oil’s U.K. operated assets. The multimillion pound deal will include inspection management, risk analysis, examination support and nondestructive testing to a range of production and processing facilities. Ocean Safety’s New SOLAS Premier Kru Falcon lifejacket: integrated survival and recovery. The UK’s largest independent marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has introduced the latest in its range of lifejackets, the Premier Kru Falcon. The lifejacket is not only designed to support a person in the water but it boasts a number of ready fitted features that can aid recovery and survival. Kongsberg to Supply FPSO Safety System

Kongsberg Maritime Engineering (KME), the wholly owned Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) subsidiary of global maritime technology developer Kongsberg Maritime, will deliver an Integrated Control and Safety System for the new BW Offshore Catcher FPSO. The contract follows BW Offshore’s signing of a lease and operate contract with Premier Oil and its joint venture partners at the end of April 2014 for a FPSO to operate on the Catcher oil field in the U.K. North Sea. The field is owned by Premier Oil (50%, operator), Cairn Energy (30%) and MOL (20%). BW Offshore's scope includes the delivery of the FPSO, mooring system, installation and operation of the unit throughout the charter period.

Vallianz Bags US$300m Contract to Supply Two Platforms

Singapore-listed Vallianz Holdings has won a contract worth up to US$300 million (S$405.51 million) to supply two self-elevating platforms to a large national oil company in the Middle East. The contract from one of the world’s largest national oil companies involves the supply of two self-elevating platforms which will be used to perform well servicing for offshore platforms and well structures. The five year charter contract, which includes a two-year extension option, is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2015. The platforms will be used in the Arabian Gulf.

New CEO, Co-CEO to Lead MHI Vestas Offshore Wind

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas) have appointed Philippe Kavafyan to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Lars Bondo Krogsgaard to Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO) of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. The appointments will take effect on 1 April, 2018, and are made in accordance with the joint venture agreement's principle of changing its leadership every four years. Ocean Rig Loses Two Drilling Contracts

Ocean Rig UDW Inc., a global provider of offshore deepwater drilling services, announced  that two of its drilling contracts have been terminated. The Nasdaq-listed drilling affiliate of DryShips said that Total E&P Congo has terminated its long-term charter of the ultra-deepwater drillship Ocean Rig Apollo, which is currently deployed in Congo and will be demobilised “in due course”. As per the contract Ocean Rig is entitled to a termination fee that varies from 50% to 95% of the operating daily rate that will be payable over the balance of the contract.

Motion Compensation Solution for Solan Field

Motion compensated access solutions developer Ampelmann informs it  will provide one of its offshore access solutions to enable ‘walk to work’ for a commissioning campaign on Premier Oil’s Solan field, West of Shetland. The Ampelmann system enables the safe and effective transfer of the workforce in one of the world’s most challenging offshore locations. To meet the demands of working offshore West of Shetland, the multipurpose service vessel the Siem Spearfish is being fitted with an Ampelmann E-type system.

Bibby Topaz Charter Extension

Bibby Offshore, provider of subsea installation and services to the offshore oil and gas industry, said it has secured a long-term extension to the charter of its dive-support vessel (DSV) Bibby Topaz, owned by Volstad Maritime. The terms and conditions of the extended charter arrangement have been adjusted to reflect the current market environment. According to Bibby Offshore, the charter extension allows it to maintain and grow the group’s market share in the North Sea DSV market.

PetroCom LLC has entered into a binding agreement to be acquired by an affiliate of H.I.G. Capital, a Miami-based private investment firm. Headquartered in New Orleans, LA, PetroCom is a leading cellular carrier in the Gulf of Mexico and a full-service telecommunications solutions provider for the offshore industry.
