Simrad's R3016 12U/6X IMO SOLAS CAT 3 Radar System for the commercial shipping market in on the market. The new R3016 12U/6X IMO type approved radar solution is ideal for use aboard CAT 3 SOLAS vessels1, workboats, tugs and coastal fishing boats. Its 12-kilowatt X-Band transceiver and 6-foot open array scanner are designed for high reliability and low maintenance. Alongside the 6-foot array comes the new Simrad R3016, a compact control unit with a 1366x768-pixel high-definition 15.6” diagonal widescreen display.
Wind Server Delivered with Kongsberg Tech Package
The new Wind Server Wind Turbine Service Jack-Up Vessel was delivered to owner DBB Jack-Up Services in December 2014, with a full complement of Kongsberg Maritime control and automation technology on board. Built at Nordic Yards in Wismar, Germany, Wind Server went into operation maintaining offshore wind turbines throughout Northern Europe in February 2015. Wind Server’s Full Picture technology solution covers navigation, automation and maneuvering systems, and is designed to support safety and efficiency during offshore maintenance operations.
Integrated Vessel Control System Contract for Kongsberg
Nordic Yards in Wismar, Germany, has awarded Kongsberg Maritime a contract to deliver an Integrated Vessel Control System for a newbuild 80m Wind Turbine Service Jack-Up Vessel, owned by Danish offshore services specialist, DBB Jack-Up. The integrated 'Full Picture' solution covers navigation, automation and manoeuvring systems, and will be one of the first to feature Kongsberg Maritime's recently launched LAN-based Radar system. The new radar concept, K-Bridge 'Composite Picture' Radar CP360, is an integral part of the K-Bridge navigation system to be installed.
Kongsberg Unveils New Radar Solution at Nor-Shipping
Kongsberg Maritime presented a new solution for the distribution of Radar data on board ships during Nor-Shipping 2013. Utilization of an Ethernet based LAN (Local Area Network) is a significant addition to Kongsberg Maritime’s K-Bridge Integrated Bridge System and is capable of improving safety and navigation through enhanced Radar functionality whilst offering significant installation benefits. The system is currently undergoing Type Approval testing at DNV, with first customer delivery in Autumn 2013.
Bath Iron Works Files GAO Protest
Bath Iron Works, a unit of General Dynamics, has filed a protest with the General Accounting Office (GAO) challenging the fairness of the Navy’s DD(X) evaluation process. Bath Iron Works was the leader of the BLUE Team in that competition; the team included Lockheed Martin Corp., United Defense Industries, Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, L-3 Corp. and others. “After careful review of the facts provided during the Navy’s debriefing, it is obvious to us that the selection process was not consistent with the established evaluation criteria, and thereby gave an unfair advantage to the GOLD Team,” said Allan Cameron, president of Bath Iron Works.
