Stena Drillship Set for High-tech Upgrade

Stena Drilling has contracted Kongsberg Maritime to deliver a complete upgrade of its systems aboard the Stena Carron, a harsh environment dynamically positioned DP Class 3 drillship capable of drilling in water depths up to 10,000ft. Stena Carron is due to dock this November for scheduled 10 year maintenance, during which new K-Pos Dynamic Positioning, K-Chief Automation, K-Thrust Thruster Control and a Kongsberg Riser Management System will all be installed.In parallel to the safety and efficiency gains enabled by the new control technology aboard Stena Carronā€¦

Kongsberg's Operational Advisory Solution for Harsh Environment Semi-Submersible

Odfjell Drilling has awarded Kongsberg Maritime the contract to deliver a real-time monitoring and advisory solution to provide operational safety and non-productive time (NPT) improvements for the 6th generation semi-submersible, Deepsea Stavanger. The contract is in specific relation to an upcoming offshore South Africa campaign awarded to Odfjell Drilling.Kongsberg Maritimeā€™s integrated services and systems delivery for Deepsea Stavanger is designed to provide high operational safety and availability in deepwater harsh environments, strong currents and high waves.

Schlumberger, Transocean Ink Service Agreements

Cameron, a Schlumberger company, today announced the signing of two 10-year pressure control equipment management service contracts on behalf of Transocean valued at greater than $350 million. The first contract calls for Schlumberger to manage Transoceanā€™s Cameron risers in the Gulf of Mexico. This comprehensive agreement includes storage, maintenance, inspection, repair, recertification and data-driven riser management on the rigs. Through the second contract, Schlumberger will provide a comprehensive suite of solutions to maintain and service blowout preventer (BOP) systems and other pressure control equipment for nine of Transoceanā€™s ultra-deepwater and harsh environment drilling rigs.

With a sophisticated integrated simulator suite, enabling specific operations and vessel team training, Ocean Rigā€™s new facility, is shaping up to become one of the worldā€™s most advanced offshore training centers, Kongsberg Maritime said. Ocean Rig owns and operates two ultra-deepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs and nine ultra-deepwater drillships (including three newbuilds for delivery 2014-2016).

Kongsberg Tech Chosen for 13 Newbuild Projects

Kongsberg Awarded Several New Asian Projects

Kongsberg Maritime was recently awarded separate contracts with three major shipyards in Asia for major technology deliveries to specialist offshore vessels. Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea, and Cosco Shipyard in China have each selected Kongsberg ā€œFull Pictureā€ solutions for, in total, nine advanced Offshore Drilling Units, an Accommodation Unit, a Multipurpose Construction Vessel and four LNG vessels with Integrated Automation Systems.

The contracts are in regard to two new Frigstad D90 Design drilling rigs and one Bassoe Technology BT-UDS Design drillship. The total value of the contracts is in excess of MNOK 150. The contracts have options for a total of 8 additional units.

Kongsberg Wins Drilling Rig Contracts in China and Korea

CIMC Yantai Raffles in China and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding in Korea have selected extensive Dynamic Positioning (DP), Automation, new generation Safety System, Integrated Navigation, Hydroacoustic positioning and latest riser management solutions from Kongsberg. The contracts are for two new Frigstad D90 Design drilling rigs and one Bassoe Technology BT-UDS Design drillship. The total value of the contracts is in excess of MNOK 150. The contracts have options for a total of 8 additional units. The rigs are destined for operation in the burgeoning Brazilian offshore oil and gas sector and Gulf of Mexico. Both projects are design according to DnV Dynpos Autro, IMO DP Class 3, and will operate in water depths up to 3000 meters.

Kongsberg Contracted for Four Drillships and Six Options

Kongsberg was awarded an offshore integrated monitoring and control system contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). The contract covers deliveries to four Transocean owned newbuild drillships, with an option for Kongsberg to deliver products and services for six more drillships. "We call this a 'full picture' solution, as it includes dynamic positioning, position reference systems, thruster control, integrated automation systems, riser management and environmental monitoring within the same project.

Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies AS (KOGT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Gruppen ASA, announced  the latest release of the advanced Kongsberg Riser Management System (RMS), which introduces a number of new features developed to enhance situational awareness and improve data presentation. RMS is a real-time monitoring and decision support system for safe and optimal operation of drilling and work-over riser systems based on instrumented monitoring of critical parameters. The system is already in use by major operators worldwide.

Kongsberg Simulators for Maersk Training Center

Kongsberg Maritime is providing maritime simulators for Maersk's new State-of-the-art drilling operations and offcshore training facility. Kongsberg Maritime simulators have been selected for the forthcoming MOSAIC 2 facility (Maersk Offshore Simulation and Innovation Centre) at Maersk Training in Svendborg, Denmark. Building officially commenced on the state-of-the-art new facility on the Maersk Training campus on 29th November 2011. A frame agreement signed by Kongsberg Maritime and Maersk Training on December 12th 2011 covers delivery of a range of simulators and ongoing support that will act as the platform for high quality offshore drilling operations training at MOSAIC 2.

Tyrihans Field Contract for Fugro

Fugro Structural Monitoring, a division of Fugro Global Environmental & Ocean Sciences Ltd., has been awarded a contract from FMC Technologies to provide a riser management system for the completion/workover riser for Statoilā€™s Tyrihans Field in the Norwegian North Sea. Working in partnership with MCS, Fugro Structural Monitoring will supply its riser management system, IRIS-RMS, for the projectā€™s C/WO rig. Tyrihans is one of the biggest development projects on the Norwegian continental shelf in coming years, and due to come on stream in 2009. Using the MCS Flexcom software, the Tyrihans IRIS-RMS will interface with the vesselā€™s existing system providing data integration; proven predictive analysis, display, and archiving of riser related data.
