ST Marine Delivers 4th Patrol Vessel to Oman

Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine), the marine arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering), has held the Interim Acceptance ceremony for the Patrol Vessel (PV) RNOV Khasab. This is the final, in a series of four vessels, designed and built for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). The Guest-of-Honour was the Consul General for the Oman Consulate for the Republic of Singapore, HE Zakariya Hamed Hilal Al Saadi. The contract for the design and build of the four Al-Ofouq class of PVs was awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman in April 2012.

Austal Hosts Naming Ceremony for Oman’s New Naval Vessels

Austal has welcomed the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (CRNO), Rear-Admiral (RADM) Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi to the company’s Australian shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia, to officially name two 72 meter High Speed Support Vessels (HSSVs) designed and built by Austal for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). In a formal ceremony, RADM Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi named the ships RNOV AL MUBSHIR (S11) and RNOV AL NAASIR (S12). The first vessel – RNOV AL MUBSHIR (S11) – is on schedule for delivery in the first half of 2016…

Patrol Vessels Delivered, Named for Oman Navy

Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine), the marine arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering), today held the Interim Delivery and Acceptance ceremony for the third Patrol Vessel (PV), RNOV Sadh, together with the Naming Ceremony for the fourth PV, RNOV Khassab, built for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). The Guest-of-Honor was the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Admiral (RADM) Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah al-Raisi. The contract for the design and build of the four Al-Ofouq class of PVs was awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman in April 2012. It was the largest defence export contract in ST Engineering’s history. These four vessels will replace the Sultanate’s current four Seeb class PVs commissioned in the early 1980s.

Austal launches HSSV for Oman Navy

Austal has launched the first of two 72m High Speed Support Vessels (HSSV’s) being built for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), yesterday. Hull 390 - the future RNOV Al Mubshir - was successfully launched after 13 months of construction and fitout at the company’s Henderson, Western Australia shipyard. Austal Chief Executive Officer Andrew Bellamy said the on-schedule launching of the first HSSV demonstrates Austal’s proven capability to design, construct (and support) large, multiple naval vessel programs; locally, globally, successfully. “Our track record here in Australia and overseas clearly supports Austal’s strong proposition that we can effectively and efficiently deliver the Australian Government’s Future Frigate and Offshore Patrol Vessel programs,” Mr Bellamy added.

Oman Navy Receives New Patrol Vessel

Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine) delivered the second Patrol Vessel RNOV Shinas to the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). The Company also held the Naming Ceremony for the third PV RNOV Sadh built for the Navy. The Guest-of-Honour was the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Admiral (RADM) Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah al-Raisi. The contract for the design and build of the four Al-Ofouq Class of PVs was awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman through a competitive international tender in April 2012. These four vessels will replace the current four Seeb-class patrol vessels commissioned in the early 1980s. The Al-Ofouq class of petrol vessels measures 75m in length and displaces approximately 1,250 tonnes.

Oman Navy Celebrates New Patrol Vessels

The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) celebrates the delivery of its second of four new patrol vessel, together with the naming of its third, at an event hosted by shipbuilder Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine), the marine arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering). The recently delivered RNOV Shinas and recently named RNOV Sadh were celebrated at a ceremony featuring as its guest of honor Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Adm. Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah al-Raisi (TBA-RNO).

ST Marine won the contract to design and build four PVs for the RNO in 2012.

The Guest-of-Honour was His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harub Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman. ST Marine won the contract to design and build four PVs for RNO in 2012. This contract was awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman through a competitive international tender. The first vessel is expected to be delivered in 2Q2015 and the final in 3Q2016. The keel of the RNOV Al Seeb was laid on 29 March 2013 and the technical launch was on 29 January 2014.

Oman Navy Receives Al Shamikh Vessel

The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) organized a reception ceremony for Al Shamikh vessel, first of three vessels in the Khareef project for RNO. Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib al-Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs sponsored the ceremony which was held at the Said bin Sultan Naval Base, where he, along with commanders, greeted the vessel upon its arrival at the Naval base to join other vessels of the RNO fleet. Sayyid al-Busaidi and Senior invitees toured the vessel facilities and had an idea about its different sections and equipment.

Training Vessel for Royal Navy of Oman Constructed at Damen

The Ministry of Defense in Oman has awarded Damen Shipyards Group a contract for the construction of a Sail Training Vessel (STV). The 87-metre square rigged, three-masted steel clipper and will take up her role as flagship. In addition to its key role of training young Omani navy cadets and officers, the new clipper will be deployed in a distinct diplomatic role and emphasize Oman’s centuries-old maritime tradition. Due for delivery in August 2014, the ship will replace the RNO’s current RNOV Shabab Oman and will be in the RNO Fleet. In March (2013) the ship’s keel laying ceremony took place at Damen Shipyards Galati (Romania). This was conducted by Rear Admiral Al Raisi, the RNO’s commander-in-chief. The RNO has an eight-strong overseeing team stationed in Romania.

Patrol Boats – Singapore Shipyard Wins Middle East Order

Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) has announced that its marine arm, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine) has secured a contract worth €534.8m (about S$880m) to design and build four patrol vessels (PVs) and the provision of associated logistic support for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). This contract was awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman through a competitive international tender. ST Marine will build four 75-metre PVs based on its proprietary Fearless Class of PVs. The project will commence immediately with the first vessel expected to be delivered in 2Q 2015 and the final vessel in 3Q 2016. President NG Sing Chan said: “We are honoured to be entrusted by the Royal Navy of Oman with this project.

Royal Navy of Oman: New Ship Launched

The last of three corvettes under construction by BAE Systems for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) was formally named in a launching ceremony at Portsmouth Naval Base today.
