Wärtsilä to Supply Ship Design and Full Diesel Electric Propulsion System

Wärtsilä is able to offer its marine customers everything, from vessel design to the machinery and automation systems. This single-source supply capability leads to reduced building time, lower costs, and minimized project risks. This latest order also represents the first installation of the Wärtsilä 32 engine with increased power output. Wärtsilä, the marine industry's leading solutions provider, has been contracted to supply the vessel design and complete diesel electric drive installation for a new field support vessel.

Wärtsilä Receives Order for FSV Design

Wärtsilä, ship power system integrator for the marine industry, has received a ship design order from the Norwegian shipping company Sartor Shipping AS. The order is for two Vik-Sandvik 465 FSV design vessels that will be built at the Wison Heavy Industry shipyard in China. Wärtsilä scope of supply also includes two main engines, gear boxes and propellers. Sartor Shipping has options for further newbuildings at the yard. Kongsberg Launches FleetMaster Electronic Logbook

The FleetMaster Electronic Logbook is now commercially available. It provides an easier way of handling routines and reporting onboard ships, and offers many advantages over traditional paper logbooks such as a reduction in the need for double entries, the simplification of reporting and increased support for safer ship operations. Several shipping companies took part in the pilot scheme including Bergesen dy, Geoshipping, FT. Everard, Odfjell, Sartor Shipping, closing their paper logbooks in favour of Kongsberg Maritime’s advanced paperless solution. 6 ships are currently using the FleetMaster® Electronic Logbook with several installations planned in the coming months.
