Incus Investor Becomes Scana

Investment company Incus Investor has changed its name to Scana ASA and embarked on a new course as parent company for a group of equipment and service suppliers to the maritime industry. The head office will move from Stavanger to Bergen.Through its subsidiaries, Incus Investor has managed a broad Nordic industrial history that stretches back hundreds of years. As part of the company's new strategy, the board is planning an offensive maritime venture.Many probably recognize the new Scana name.

Scana Industrier Receives Turret Equipment Order

Scana Industrier ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Offshore Vestby, signed a letter of intent (LOI) for delivery of a FSO turret pull-in and locking system to Knutsen OAS Shipping AS / KNOT FSO1 AS. The FSO is a converted Shuttle Tanker in the Knutsen Fleet. Project work will commence immediately and final contract will be signed early 2015.   The equipment is developed in cooperation with Cefront Technology AS.   This is the first contract Scana has signed directly with Knutsen OAS Shipping.   Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2015.

Scana Win New Propulsion System, Thruster Contracts

Scana Industrier ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Propulsion recently signed new contracts: one for delivery of a propulsion systems to Kleven verft, and two more for tunnel thrusters to Nordic Yards and Guangzhou Salvage Bureau. The contracts have a total value of approx. 22 million NOK. This is for delivery of gear and propellers to a new construction vessel for Østensjø Rederi. The vessel is designed by Salt Ship Design and is to be delivered in March 2016. Scana Propulsion will provide gear and propellers within first quarter 2015. The contracts for delivery of tunnel thrusters have been signed with customers in Germany and China.

China's CNOOC Place Large Scana OSV Propulsion Systems Order

Scana Industrier has through its Norway-based subsidiary Scana Propulsion signed contracts with a value around 50 million NOK in second half 2013. The orders are related to delivery of propulsion systems for offshore vessels within China. The contracts are signed with companies within the CNOOC group and includes delivery of gear, propellers, remote controlling and tunnel thrusters for Anchor Handling Supply Vessels and Oil Recovery Vessels. Delivery will be during second quarter 2014.

Scana Industrier CEO Steps Down

Norwegian marine, energy, steel and machinery group Scana Industrier announce that as from 1, November 2013, Rolf Roverud leaves his position as CEO of Scana Industrier ASA and Jan Henry Melhus will act as CEO from the same date. Currently, Melhus holds the position as Executive Vice President / COO of Scana Industrier. "I want to thank Mr. Roverud for his strong efforts through a very challenging period for Scana. Both the Board of Scana and Mr. Roverud are of the opinion that there is a need for management changes in Scana in light of the strategy going forward…

Scana Industrier to Supply Steel for Ichthys Project

Scana Industrier ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Steel Stavanger, been awarded a new contract from Samsung Heavy Industry for delivery of steel casting intended for the Australian Ichthys project, representing a value of 36-million NOK. Including previously received orders from Samsung for the same project, the total value adds up to 93 MNOK. The project will commence activity immediately, and deliveries will complete by the end of 2013 and the contract includes approx. 60 casting components which are part of the mooring system for the Ichthys project. The Ichthys field off the NW coast of Australasia was named after the classical Greek word for “fish”.

China Firm Buys Scana Machinery Co. Stake

Norway Headquartered Scana Industrier ASA has entered into an "Equity Sale and Purchase Agreement" with Leshan Zhi Yuan Gao Di Mining Co. Ltd. regarding a sale of Scanas 80% equity share interest in Leshan Scana Machinery Co. Ltd. The new owner will immediately take responsibility for daily operation of the company together with the existing organization, and will take responsibility for the companys obligations, say Scan Industrier. Leshan Scana Machinery is located in Leshan City, Sichuan Province, China. "The transaction will gradually strengthen Scanas capital base through cash inflow and reduced debt. The "Equity Sale and Purchase Agreement" is now to be approved by Chinese authorities.

Scana to Supply Rolls-Royce with Marine Propulsion Components

Scana Industrier ASA subsidiary Scana Steel Björneborg, receives an additional order from Rolls-Royce, for delivery of complete propeller and intermediate shafts during 2013-2014. The total value of the contract is 20-million SEK. Scana Steel Björneborg has a long history as a supplier to Rolls-Royce, who requires consistently high quality propeller and intermediate shafts for their propulsion systems. During the latest 12 months Scana Steel Björneborg has received several large orders from the customer and the order reserve within Scana Steel Björneborgs marine area has increased considerable. Scana Offshore Vestby FPSO Contract Price Upped

Scana Industrier ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Offshore Vestby, been awarded a Variation to the contract for delivery of  Mooring Winches to Dana Petroleum. The contract is for the delivery of  Mooring Winches to Dana Petroleum SO at the Western Isles Development Project in the UK sector of the North Sea. The FPSO will be built based on Sevan Marine technology. The total value of the contract is now updated from 57-million NOK to 74-million NOK. The Mooring Winches have been developed in close cooperation with the customer, says Scana. The project has started and delivery will be in the 4th quarter of 2014. The contracts will involve Scana Steel Stavanger in addition to Scana Offshore Vestby.

Scana Wins GofM Lift Frame Equipment Contract

Scana Industrier ASA subsidiary Scana Offshore Services signs a new contract for Motion Compensating Coiled Tubing Lift Frames. Sweden's Scana Industrier ASA has, through its subsidiary Scana Offshore Services in Houston, Texas, entered into an agreement with a non-disclosed customer for delivery of Motion Compensating Coiled Tubing Lift Frame assemblies for use in the Gulf of Mexico. The contract value is approx. US$8-million and deliveries will take place in the 1st half of 2014. The project will be lead by Scana Offshore Services with engineering support from Stingray Offshore Solutions LLC, a Houston based design and engineering company where Scana holds a 25% ownership.

Scana to Supply FPSO Mooring Winches

Scana Industrier ASA subsidiary, Scana Offshore Vestby, has signed a winch supply contract with UK-based Dana Petroleum. The contract is for delivery of mooring winches for Dana Petroleum's new floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) which will be used in their Western Isles Development Project. The total value of the contract is 57 MNOK. Dana Petroleum plc is a $4 billion oil and gas business with operations in the UK, Egypt, Norway, The Netherlands and Africa. The Western Isles Project (Dana 77% and Cieco 23%) will develop two discovered oil fields called Harris and Barra in the Northern North Sea, 160km east of the Shetlands and 12km west of the Tern field. The FPSO will be based on Sevan Marine technology and built at COSCO Qidong Shipyard in China.

Norway's Scana Energy Call on Consultants

Scana Industries ASA engage consultants to evaluate strategies for Scana Energy's further growth and international development. Scana Industries ASA has engaged Bridgehead AS and its Swedish partner Avantus Corporate Finance AB, to assist in assessing various strategies for the business unit Scana Energy's further growth and international development. Scana Energy, is the Scana Group's largest business area with a turnover from 800 million to 1500 million SEK in recent years. Scana has in recent years invested heavily in Scana Energy to develop the companies and to offer advanced products of high quality for the global energy sector's various growth segments, particularly the oil and gas industry.

Scana to Supply Offshore Energy Control Actuators

Scana Industrier ASA subsidiary Scana Skarpenord, wins contracts to deliver actuators & control systems to buyers in S. Korea and China. The value of the contracts is 15 MNOK, and involves the supply of actuators and controls for FPSO and LNG/LPG applications. Scana Skarpenord states that through its strategic position aimed at market penetration in oil & gas applications in the marine market, these contracts are in accordance with that strategic direction.   The projects are planned to start immediately and deliveries will commence from 2rd quarter 2013.

Scana Subsea Wins Riser Material Contract

Scana Industrier ASA - Scana Subsea awarded riser material contract for North Sea and Australia operations. Scana Industrier ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Subsea, been awarded a contract to deliver machined riser forgings to a non-disclosed customer. The riser systems are intended for North Sea and Australia operations. The initial contract value is 27 MSEK. However, the contract contains additional optional work as machining, welding, assembly and testing, which may bring the total contract value higher. The projects are planned to start immediately and deliveries will commence from 3rd quarter 2013. The contract will also involve Scana Steel Björneborg, Scana Steel Söderfors and Scana Machining, in addition to Scana Subsea who front the contract.

New Marine Technology: The Hallmark of SMM 2000

The SMM exhibition in Hamburg has once again proven that it is the cradle of marine technology and the grand-daddy of all marine exhibitions. On display in 12 separate halls were more than 1,300 exhibitors from more than 50 countries, launching new products and discussing business with an estimated 37,000 visitors. More telling that sheer numbers, in this case, is the feeling of the exhibition and the ubiquitous marine technology theme. The quality of attendee and exhibitor is always high, but this edition of the bi-annual exhibition seemed especially charged due to the many positives currently running throughout the full spectrum of the maritime market.
