Scorpio Tankers, Carbon Ridge Partner for Onboard Carbon Storage

Scorpio Tankers Inc. has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Carbon Ridge to collaborate on the development of onboard carbon capture for maritime vessels.Carbon Ridge is a U.S.-based startup working to commercialize existing gas separation technology without the need for large structural modifications. Treatment Standards Needed for Oily Galley Water

Marine regulators have been urged to introduce performance standards for the separation of fats from galley water before the oily mix enters the onboard treatment process and causes system failure. Currently there are no IMO standards for the separation of fats, oils and grease from galley water, despite the treated water having to comply with the MEPC 227(64) regulation, which does not allow the discharge of any oils. Mark Beavis, the Managing Director of water treatment specialist ACO Marine, said: “Galley water should be free of waste sludge, fats, oils and greases before it enters the treatment process otherwise biological overloading and system blockages can occur, causing system failure and possible pollution.

Aker, Fjords Join Forces

Aker Solutions and Fjords Processing have formed an alliance to develop technology and capabilities for advanced, cost-effective wellstream separation and treatment solutions for the subsea and topside oil and gas industry. The WellSep alliance will apply Aker Solutions' subsea processing experience and testing facilities and Fjords' topside and onshore separation technologies to provide complete solutions. "This is a great opportunity to further develop our key technologies with one of our most important partners, Aker Solutions," said Rune Fantoft, chief executive officer of Fjords Processing. Alfa Laval Now Offers Sustainable Solutions

Alfa Laval, Spliethoff Deal for Cleaner Ships

It covers the retrofit of a multiple inlet PureSOx exhaust gas cleaning system on board one of Spliethoff’s vessels which operates mainly in the North European ECA area. Hamworthy Improves on Separator Performance

Hamworthy signed a contract with FPSO Owner OSX 1 Leasing B.V., a subsidiary of OSX Brasil S.A., for delivery of its newest generation Vessel Internal Electrostatic Coalescer (VIEC) technology to the FPSO OSX-1. Upon completion of customization works currently in progress in , the FPSO OSX-1 will be delivered by OSX to its customer OGX Petróleo e Gás Ltda. under charter arrangements, for deployment in the basin, offshore . New Order EVTN’s Separation Technology

Enviro Voraxial Technology, Inc. (OTCBB: EVTN) announced on March 5 that the company has received an order from Twin Filter, a marketing partner of EVTN and a global provider of filtration equipment and services. The purchase order calls for the delivery of a Voraxial(R) Separator to the marine environmental subsidiary of a large oil company. The Voraxial Separator will be configured to perform simultaneous bulk separation of oil, water and sand from large volumes of contaminated water collected from various maritime sources, including ships. The installation of the Voraxial will improve the customer's overall wastewater system while significantly reducing its operating costs.

Genoil MOU with Tianjin Port

Genoil Inc. (TSX.V: GNO) (OTCBB: GNOLF.OB) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tianjin Port, one of China’s major shipping harbors. The MOU with Tianjin Port is for the introduction and implementation of Genoil’s oil-water separation system to treat and clean bilge water of oil, contaminants, chemicals and pathogens. This is the second Chinese port to sign an agreement with Genoil to use its oil-water separation technology. Tianjin Port is located 170 km south east of Beijing and east of Tianjin city – China’s third largest city. During 2007, Tianjin Port was the fourth largest port in China and sixth largest in the world with over 300 million tons of annual throughput.
