Ulstein Implements Organizational Changes

Naming and organizational changes are underway in the Ulstein Group companies in the Netherlands. As of August 1, 2015, the ship design company Ulstein Sea of Solutions has been renamed Ulstein Design & Solutions BV (UDS BV), while the equipment company Ulstein Idea Equipment Solutions has been renamed Ulstein Equipment BV (UE BV). Edwin van Leeuwen and Gilbert Rezette enter positions as managing directors of the respective companies. Furthermore the holding company for the Ulstein Group activities in the Netherlands has been renamed into Ulstein Netherlands in which Sigurd Viseth takes position as managing director. He will also on behalf of Ulstein become Chairman of the Board in the Dutch companies.

Ulstein Designs PSVs for Otto Offshore

Ulstein Design & Solutions has entered into a contract with Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd, China, for the delivery of ship design and equipment for four PX121 type platform supply vessels. The shipowner is the Singapore based Otto Offshore Ltd., who will receive all vessels in 2016. The contract also includes an option for four additional vessels. These PX121 vessels are capable of supporting offshore activities which are being carried out further from shore and in deeper waters. The vessels can carry flexible loads.

Two More PSVs for Vroon

COSCO (Guang Dong) Shipyard Co. Ltd is going to build a further two platform supply vessels of the ULSTEIN PX121 design for Vroon Offshore Services, the Netherlands. Ulstein has entered into an agreement with COSCO on delivering ship design, power & control equipment and on-site follow-up services.The first of totally six vessels in this series, VOS Pace, was launched on 30 June. “The PX121 design is becoming increasingly attractive to oil companies as it offers a competitive combination of fuel-efficiency and cargo capacities/deadweight,” comments Sigurd Viseth, Managing Director of Ulstein Design & Solutions. “This translates to a performance level that is usually expected from larger PSVs, but at a medium-sized PSV cost - delivering excellent value-for-money for the owner and operator.

Ulstein Enters Oceangoing Tug Market

Ulstein has sold design and equipment packages for four ocean going tugs to Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair in Japan. The vessels will be built for the Dutch company ALP Maritime Services. The vessels are primarily designed for towing of large structures over long distances. This is a new market for Ulstein and the contract represents so far the highest value in one single contract for Ulstein Design & Solutions. The vessels of the SX157 design are developed especially for this project in close collaboration with ALP.

Ltd, China, on deliveries of ship design, power and control equipment and onsite follow-up services of two platform supply vessels of the PX121 design. Britoil Enters the PSV Market with Ulstein Designs

Shipowner Britoil Offshore Services Pte Ltd. has entered into a contract of design and equipment packages for two platform supply vessels of the new PX121 design from Ulstein. The vessels will be constructed at Britoil’s own yard, P.T. Britoil Offshore Indonesia, on the island Batam. The X-BOW vessels will mark Britoil’s entry into the PSV market. Singapore based Britoil has a fleet of 40 vessels, mainly anchor handling tugs and barges. The company has more than 25 years of experience in ship services and transport.

New Finance Manager at Ulstein Verft

Sindre Rotevatn (51) has been appointed finance manager and deputy managing director of Ulstein Verft AS. He will take up the position in November. “I am looking forward to joining ULSTEIN and to my new role as finance manager and deputy managing director of Ulstein Verft,” says Sindre Rotevatn. He comes from the position as Senior Vice President Business Process Improvement in Saferoad Group, where he previously held the position as CFO. Rotevatn also has several years of experience as finance manager in Ørsta-gruppen, Ørsta Stål and Møremøbler, in addition to experience from banking. Rotevatn also succeeds Sigurd Viseth as deputy managing director of Ulstein Verft.
